OMG. First I think the glide power is a little bs, then the drill comes and I'm like this is bs, but then the grappling hook comes and I become nostalgic for the earlier levels, because it's so BS!!! Great game though. Took me like an hour and I'm late from gym so this kinda ruined my day but great game still.

this game made me want to punch my computer. 5/5

Great work on this one! Really solid and engaging platforming with fun modes to switch between on the different levels. Nice job!

A very polished platformer with varied and interesting mode mechanics! Especially liked how momentum was handled in the gliding mode. Great job!

These were some fun mechanics! The physics felt smooth, and the blend of minimalist graphics and color-changing was great!

The main bug that I ran into was that the music randomly blared and then cut out entirely (not sure if this is a web-only thing or not). Also, the way some of the obstacles were designed, it was sometimes difficult to track my trajectory and control my momentum. Though I bet with more time I could improve my skills, which is a mark of pretty good design.

Great entry! I had a fun time.

Developer

I am aware of a web-only bug where pressing the arrow keys during gameplay causes this. Dunno why.

This game is engaging and fun, but NUTSO hard. I died dozens of times on 1-3 and my friend is still trying to beat it on the other computer lol. I got 6 floppies before resigning. Backgrounds are pretty, grappling hook is fun.

Love the oldschool game-n-watch style presentation. I really appreciate the simple but fun gameplay premise & simple 2-button control scheme. Really solid work!

Developer

Game and Watch was exactly the type of style we were going for! Glad we nailed it :)

It reminds me of those toys that come with happy meals, or at least used to, but it's an actually fun video game that was well thought out and looks stylish. Just don't press the arrow keys during gameplay; it's buggy and blasted my ears out and required the volume buttons on the main menu to fix.

Developer(+1)

Woah. Nice catch. No idea how that bug came to be. Thanks for the feedback :)

Congrats on the solo game! I like that this game has super simple mechanics but difficult gameplay . The movement and physics feel really polished. The respawning was also very clean and snappy so you don't feel deterred from trying over and over again. Nice game!!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

It isn't a solo game. The sprites for the character and the obsticles were done by https://thenri.itch.io/ . They just haven't accepted the invitation for co-admin yet. Glad you liked it! I honestly wanted to tone the difficulty down a bit towards the end but didn't find the time.

Edit: Seems like they did accept but I didn't check the "show as collaborator" box. Itch is really making this difficult '^^

Very unique art style!! Tthis game is deceptively difficult but it runs very smoothly and is super satisfying once you get the hang of it. I enjoyed it :)

The drill and the plane were awesome stuff, the grappling hook I think need some work too bad it was a show stopper for me cause I could not adapt to the way it works. I'm not a fan of autoscroller but your game with the drill and plane give a lot of freedom even if the level design is strict. I can safely say I played more of this them Geometry dash and I would love to see it in a more full fleshed version(or even a more relaxed platform vibe...the powers are really awesome). Loved the aestetichs and the music!

Developer

Yes, makese sense. The grappling hook mechanics were still wonky in the end. I think I know what I could've done better by now and will look to improve it in the post-jam edit. I'm telling you though: grappling hooks are suprisingly hard to code, especially if you don't work with a physics engine.

Oh yeah I know what you mean. In one of the first games I made I tried to add a grappling hook to use it wherever you want but I had to change the mechanic around fixed point. Good stuff bringing it up because I would love to have it working properly nowdays and would be a great challenge. Looking foward to your updates!

Nice concept and interpretation of the mode theme. I think it has potential to become a really smooth platformer if you flesh out the mechanics. I found the levels a bit difficult, maybe the difficulty ramping was a bit too intense. I died very often from hitting the environment which was very unforgiving when it sent me back to the start. I think the default key bindings were somewhat unintuitive for my brain because I am used to "A" being a movement key in most platformers. Maybe binding "E" would be more intuitive? Otherwise, I hope you keep building these mechanics out in a more complete game, you have something good going!

I really enjoyed this! I found it pretty difficult to switch seamlessly between the modes, in the same way that it's hard to tap your head and rub your tummy at the same time. The glider's momentum was really well done and really forces you to have good timing. I could see this working really well as a speedrunning game, since perfect timing is rewarded with good momentum. Really nice minimal, futuristic graphics, too. Reminds me of Neon Genesis a bit.

Really good idea, very pretty and well executed. I wish the levels were shorter so I could make progress, cause it is quite hard, but really liked it overall.

Developer

If I would've had more time, making the game easier was the next step on my to-do list. It can be suprisingly hard to get the difficutly right when you have been playing the game all the time during development, but I was aware that it was a bit too hard at the end. Glad you still liked it!

This was one very fun, and very difficult at times, has a lot of potential

Really cool idea! Love the paper plane. Good pacing and tempo, and very difficult which provides a nice challenge for a masochist like myself.  Loved it! I think you'd like my game, there's some similarity here :)

Looks and plays nicely. But too punishing for a wimp like me! The streets below must be covered in my fallen corpses.

Developer

Haha yeah, I wanted to make it easier, but didn't get around to do it in time. It's a quite difficult atm

Nice game. I got engrossed into the gameplay quite fast, nice tempo and pacing when restarting after death. Good luck!

Developer

Thanks! I was quite frustrated when I discovered that one of the level packs crashed on HTML. Glad you liked it!

Very nice! Art is pretty and clean, mode switching is fluid and fun when you work it out. Surprisingly hard considering it's so simple!

Submitted

I like it, especially the complexity it reaches even though it only has 2 controls! There is a small problem with some modes though, it took me some time to understand how to control the drill, and the hookshot becomes like 3 times as hard because of the travel time of the hook, I literally couldn't beat the last level of that mode.

Developer (1 edit)

Ahh, we were debating removing the traveltime of the hookshot, but I ended up leaving it in cause I liked the feel more. Thanks for the feedback!
