  • Loved the visuals and music, there's a lot of care put into systems that are otherwise easy to dismiss in the context of a game jam - such as the reactive camera, enemy animations, and changing music. I liked the noticeable progression in the level design, introducing new enemies in a safer environment and then ramping it up. I felt the gameplay was lacking and movement felt sluggish, little faster run speed and a bigger jump/double jump could have done wonders! Great work!

What do you like about your game?
I think i captured a sliver of the charm of N64 games like DK64, i really like how the texture painted environment turned out

Really nice looking game - great job! Very polished and great control and movement on the main character.

One thing I would say, is that the enemies in the water are really easy to avoid, but the enemies that throw the blobs at you are really hard - feels like they need tweaking.

Great game though - I enjoyed playing this one :)

Developer

thanks! yea the slime enemies predict movement so they became too difficult, i plan on changing them to be more fair post jam

That final stretch was hilariously chaotic. The visuals are impressive. I'm a particular fan of the gooey ooblek effect.

Developer

haha thankss also i really liked the style of your game, reminded me of courage the cowardly dog

Omg thanks :D Yeah I was quite transfixed by that show as a kid so it makes sense, haha

just lovely, gives me nostalgia, great job!

that awesome thanks so much

This game looks incredible, the character is really cute, and the camera movements/angle changes are really smooth. Also it felt like a good progression of difficulty - though toward the end it got too difficult for me and I wasn't able to finish it. I definitely felt the stress as the enemies gradually caught up with the little character jumping helplessly in the water. I wonder if a small dash ability in the water or something would give players a greater sense of control. Or maybe items that could be picked up/earned and dropped as you are swimming to temporarily distract enemies.

thanks ! your 100% right about the end i want to tone that part down considerably post jam. there were mechanics i considered like a powerup that resets your stamina while in the oobleck but i didnt quite have time for.

Submitted(+1)

It's a very cute horror =)

Phew! I got stressed easily! I like how much thrill you can get from such a simple mechanics. Kinda feel like the experience could be extended with a few more mechanics into a big game; because it is all about timing and location, i has a loot of room to build spatial-time puzzles.

I think that placing that 1st crocodile at the beginning accomplishes my (really mine?) 101 rule of interactivity, which is making learning progressive. That single pond sets the basis for everything that comes next.

Besides of that, I had to learn my myself that you could jump while in the water, which is an interesting micromechanic as well, as I realised I was slowly sinking.

Another interesting aspect is the cognitive dissonance you build (I think this is what makes it more thrilling/stressful): cute things, death. Yay!

Developer

Thanks for this comment! I would love to extend the mechanics with new types of areas and enemy types, different color oobleck has different properties possibly. I totally agree about the cognitive dissonance, i think the crossover of cute and horror drives players to be more protective of the main character ie immersing you more in the experience.

Looks really great, game is rather lovely
Just feels like it lacks some gameplay and that the way you play doesn't change anything much

Absolute banger game! The fact you made all this in 2 weeks is mind-blowing. Farthest I could get was at the purple slime part lol. If you were to make this into a full game, I would play it.

Amazing entry! Beautiful. Captivating. Great controls, even for an old guy like me!

Submitted(+1)

the noise the globoglabgalab guys make is really funny

Developer

Not me running into the first goo alligator thinking it was going be a friend lol
Probably one of the most gorgeous and cutest game I've played yet in the jam! Great job on the presentation, I also love the enemy variety and how well the difficulty escalated. All around great job.

Developer(+1)

ahaha at first i had some angry eyebrows on the gooblegator but then i was like nah i want there to be some uncertainty wether they are dangerous or not lmao, thanks so much !

This game is so pretty! And the quality of your characters and animations were amazing considering the time frame! Really nicely done.

the n64 vibes + modern shaders for water effects are 6/5 for presentation, as for the gameplay, it's also very original and fun, truly outstanding

P.S: even the sound design is very well done and satisfying

This game looks amazing. It really does have that N64 charm, mixed with a bit more modern, higher poly models! The game nicely introduce the enemies. However, I found that as the game progressed more and more enemies would appear in one room, and in the room what I now know is the finale, there were so many enemies that I tried for a while and couldn't do it (mainly because I softlocked, but due to the comment below, I won't really sccount for that.) Overall, this game has a great artstyle, and the gameplay is pretty nice, although the massive amounts of enemies later on gets frustrating. Good work!

Developer

thanks and i totally get what you mean about the too many enemys at the end haha, i needed more playtesters to properly judge the difficulty of that section

I get it, my game didn't have any playtesting, so I have no clue what It'll be like to other people! Thanks for the reply :).

Very adorable! Much enjoyed the unique paint-themed aesthetics throughout. Could tell a lot of effort went into making the liquid paint, blobby enemies, and the painted environment work together. Great progressive level design as well!

Developer

thanks so much! the oobleck visuals was definitely what i spent a lot of development time on since there is so much of it

Submitted(+1)

This was a blast to play so cute!

Developer

really appreciate it
