I'm not a fan of the escape button resetting all your progress when you just want to pause. But it's a very interesting concept, and I love how the enemies slam into the screen when you jump on them.

Developer

oh Jesus my bad. The pause key is b for break. I mentioned it in the page manual I think. But I can understand what you are saying that it is really unintuitive. I will come back to fixing the issues next week after my current project

its very rare to see turn based platformer, and this one is also very stylish and atmospheric (:

Thank you 🤗

Very interesting concept, I would have loved an option to only undo one action at a time rather than immediately undoing all inputs. Might just be me trying to immediately do everything in as few turns as possible though lol

having the enemy dinosaurs slam into the camera was my favorite thing that happened to me today.

thank you 🤗

This game is really fun, requires thinking too! Good game!

Thank you so much!

My game is stuck on the third level :( Player did not spawn :(

There is a bit of an issue with repeated keybinds, sometimes when you input them in quick succession the game doesn't register them.

I feel that somehow the game is not deterministic. As if the same input made twice would give different outcome. Especially in a bit sequence. I feel that it shouldn't be the case, maybe it's just my brain !
I went back and played again, game feels a little jank, but fun !

It is a very nice game! very interesting mechanic for a platformer! I didn't finish it cuz my game bugged, I fell down into the pit and I didn't respawn, like the dino was still accepting my inputs, then I pressed esc and everything reseted and I lost all my progress, but overall it was a fun experience

Thank you!

Idea: Amazing

Having dinosaurs splatter on your screen: Super fun

Graphics: Absolutely solid, only thing missing is a parallax effect.

All your tutorial prompts were perfectly placed and had useful information, props for that. The idea was brilliant and gameplay fun, but I think it would've been better explored in a grid based system. There were many spots were you were half over an edge, and it was unclear if you should jump or move forward, where as if the movement was on a grid it'd provide much clarity. Also I wish enemies moved more linearly, them accelerating to speed made it hard to predict my own movements.

Anyways I very much enjoyed playing, solid submission and I'm shocked I haven't seen turn based platformers before, brilliant concept.

Developer

thanks for the feedback. much appreciated!

I really like turn-based experiences, as I am one of those who does not enjoy being pushed. Giving the chance to space the mind is a great way to gain the attention of people who is usually reluctant to play videogames because they think that they're stressful.

I think the twits of combining two genres (platforms, turns) is brilliant. At the end, it boils down to convey which short of choices will put you out of trouble, which also pushes the player to use memory. It feels like a chose-you-own-adventure game where you are compelled to explore a lot of deathly branches until you find the one that saves you (like in a multiverse).

The way you set controls (arrows to pave the road, then a key to start and a key to remove the plan and try again, along with a key to keep running forwards) solves all the major concerns a player can have. If you had, for example, left the remove key, I wold had been pushed to go trough a failure even if I already knew. If you had removed the forward key, I would had to keep playing turns even when there is no more thread. This gives the game a lot of smoothness and agency to the player to feel he is in control.

Congrats, it's an amazing idea!

thank you !!!!

Nice puzzle game, cute visual, but controlling is a bit buggy sometimes it does not register that I press a button I'm guessing that you get input in fixedUpdate?

a move planning platformer is such a fun idea! its easy to understand but hard to master! having to plan out your moves while taking other moving objects into account makes it pretty engaging (reminds me of the game Transistor in that sense). im also shocked by the amount of levels you came up with in a short amount of time, i was surprised that it kept going seeing new game elements getting introduced here and there (especially at the end of the game).

the use of the lighting colors to define an entity's behaviour (red for moves when you move, and green for time-independent move) was a nic indicator. a lot of this game's presentation is just so fun, like enemies getting slammed onto the screen when defeated!

though ngl, im not sure if i solved some of the puzzles in the right way xd. i think some of the issues that i ran into were caused by Unity's physics misplacing the character in a way where it would misalign me from the intended designed solution due to being pushed around or because of friction, especially on the moving platform levels (i get pushed off when the platform rises up). maybe playing around with rigidbody constraints (freezing the x position of the character after exhausting all the commands) or parenting the player to the moving platform on landing on it and zeroing its velocity would help lessen the issue.

since you also seem to be looking for bugs, there was one i encountered where the camera bounds seems to move away from its fixed position after i respawned in one of the levels (i think it was the 4 platforms level moving up and down ). i think when respawning, my character got moved a little bit to the left which cause d it to go off screen, but for some reason the camera started moving slightly to the right. this caused the player character to be out of view everytime i spawned after that point (though it wasn't too bad).

regardless, this was a super fun game, the mechanic is fleshed out really well! i enjoyed a lot of the puzzles and the presentation was very playful. great work!

Developer

thank you! that is a great review and helpful feedback !

nice puzzle, graphics, and gameplay, but the character do get stuck sometimes I have to full reset

Developer

Can you elaborate what you mean? (Future fix). I need to be able to reproduce the bug you had

got stuck on level 1 using Ctrl in the "- = -=-" level. I think it does clip in corners, happened to me twice.

Developer

thanks for the reply! now it is clear to me
