The music is my favorite part of this game. I'd like to see some more character actions in the future, maybe running with a double tap. The main character's design is good and the graphics make me feel nostalgic for earlier game consoles. The sound effects are hilarious but a bit too on top of each other, should be an easy fix. Look forward to future updates.

I liked the overall aesthetic a loooot, and the main character was pretty cool. The limits of the map were a bit annoying, I didn't know how to get back to pick up missed food or money on higher levels of the map.

Developer

Hey there Sandra!
You mean in the first level? You can walk up the ramp and jump to the upper level o.o
I like that you liked it and thank you for taking the time! Hope you'll enjoy the post-jam updates even more ;)

Submitted

I think it was the second level, maybe I didn't see it, sorry! Sometimes I jumped beyond a platform without knowing and couldn't restart the level right away so I didn't repeat those

I think you're onto something here, this is a good start of what looks like could be a larger game. I see you're working on game modes, you mentioned in another comment. I liked the aesthetics of what you have so far, the model and its movements were cool/dynamic/interesting. Overall, the game reminded me in some parts of the following: Jet Set Radio (futuristic/music), Toejam and Earl (weird/collecting), and Zombies Ate My Neighbors(weird/collecting/something intangible I'm not sure what, maybe the movement kind of even though yours is 3D). Not sure if those games were what you inspired by, but I liked it. And it could be because of me thinking of Jet Set Radio, but maybe the character could have skates or more speed to their movement.

Developer

Thanks a lot SnakeWinter I appreciate it! Those games are certainly influences I carry :) You could also add Hit & Run, Saints Row 2, CrazyTaxy, Battle for Bikini Bottom and a little bit of Destroy all Humans to the list of games that influence me... at least with this project ;)
Be sure to stay around for future developments!

I cannot express how unfun waiting is as a mechanic in any game. The atmosphere is great, the animations are super fun, but it's just hard to play because I'm expected to do nothing for certain periods of time.

Developer

Yes the gameplay loop changed several times T_T  At the beginning there was just fast-pace collecting, NICE. Then made bad choices under that "rushed" mental state :(  You know what I mean?
More relaxed now, Im working on a couple game-modes for post-jam release. This ones should be crazy, but make sense and be fun too :)
Thank you for the frank feedback Solar, I appreciate it and glad you liked the rest! :)

The atmosphere is reminiscent of Babsi 3D, in a good way.

Developer

I cant see any similarities but Im glad you liked it Don! Thank you

This was super trippy. Loved the music and sound effects, well done.

Developer(+1)

And more trippiness awaits after the jam :) Glad you enjoyed the experience agon, and thank you for taking the time!

Simple but in a lot of ways true to the era. I think the jitter seemed a little extreme. I also seemed to have lost with seconds still on the clock and my meter not full. It's a simple concept, just like a lot of games back then.

Developer

Thank you dbeta! I did all I could to make it true to the 90's and specifically PS1, glad it managed to fullfill that :)
Was the jitter too much? O.O In my screen it seemed pretty tame, I thought it needed even more! And yes some of those problems like the timer have been fixed now, for the post-jam release ;)

Authentic vibe and throwback graphics, yummy! The two incentives go a bit against one another (get stuff fast vs take little breaks) so the game loop feels weird. If you polish this a little and do all the stuff you intended but didn't get time to do (great music), I think this will make for a wonderful post-jam game!

Developer

Thanks a lot Polychrombo! Yes I think i get what you mean about the game loop and development will definitely continue! :D

Submitted(+1)

Such a vibe! ^^ I need to start walking how she does, people might start paying attention haha. Im stil;l unsure on the mechanics I think its just not to get things too fast? that seems to work out :) great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you Ricky I appreciate!
It is definitely a strut! Testing the game took longer than needed cause I kept getting hipnotized by it xD

For some reason the game won't run in Firefox and in Brave i just get a black screen with music but cant play, maybe add a download version?

Developer(+1)

Hi there Cranile! Thank you for taking the time :)
Could you describe what happened when you tried to run it on Firefox? Did you got a specific error?
Im using Firefox and its working perfectly in 2 different computers, both in regular and private browsing, same with Edge (windows internet browser).

Submitted(+1)

Sorry for the late reply, i tried to run the game again and left it to load for a bit and it work, but i took like 5 min. the transition between the main menu and level selection also takes a couple of minutes, so i think the problem is actually my PC :(

Developer(+1)

Dont worry about it Cranile, Thank you for getting back to me!
Alright so It did load in the end, but extremely slowly. It does sound like it is something on your end, if your computer is good then it might be driver related or lacking some kind of package like the C++ distributables or maybe DotNet, that type of stuff. If you computer isnt very good then it could be the hardware itself :(

Already edited the project on my end so I cant upload it here or I would be disqualified. In case you still want to give it a try later: In about a week Ill be updating it and also add desktop versions! Good luck Ill be checking your entry later, screenshots look cool!

Love the crazy style! You did a fantastic job with this game! I am curious about what the sidebar is for and how the success or failure is determined!
