I got lost but finally found the meat! The timer was a good addition it gave a lot of pressure to finish on time!

Big boi has a pretty huge house

Very nice! I really liked your game! The idea of doing chores by platforming was very clever and unique. I thought the house flipping around was really cool. It was almost like a surreal horror game. I thought the art (particularly the player) was really cute! For a first game, this is really good especially since it was made for a game jam.

As for feedback: I would suggest smoothing out camera transitions as the ones here were kinda jarring. Your jumping sounds got pretty repetitive. I would suggest randomly pitching sounds up or down with each jump to give it some variety without too much effort. On the first day when you had to light the fireplace, the player was required to make a huge leap that seemed impossible. You always want your player to be able to tell which jumps they can make and which ones they can't.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed playing and I hope you keep creating and improving. Good luck and nice work!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the game! also yea, I forgot about adding a random float for the pitch : , )
I'll keep the level design in mind for my future games and jams, thank you for this comprehensive feedback!

No problem! Keep at it!

good art and platformer game but character is little bit to fast

It kind of felt like I was playing a game based in a Dr. Seuss Book, based on the strange architecture of the house. But that's what made the platforming so fun!

Interesting self-care platformer, not sure I've seen a game tackle doing chores as well as classic platforming before! Definitely curious to see what you do next!

omg santas change my house distribution XD nice platformer well done

Ah that's a cute entry ! though the music made me think I would encounter a screamer or some horror genre element during the game, very eerie !

Developer

To be fair before making this game I was considering making a 3D horror so I think that idea distracted me a bit lol

ChoreVania!

It would benefit from a bit more visual feedback on the character actions and the scenery (when you have to jump a series of platforms, for example), but nice idea overall

Didn't understand the dash mechanic, btw. It teleported me while jumping the camera, wich was distracting

Interesting game!

The combination of the music, changing house layout and cutscene-style camera positions would make for an exciting horror game or maybe a puzzle game. I think horror is the way to go. Would say the music could be improved.

As you pick up things a lot in the game, pressing becomes quite tedious and feels cramped quickly. I would recommend changing the pick-up button to Space, perhaps?

Otherwise great work!

Fun game but the controls are not very good

Developer

How can I improve them?

Submitted(+1)

Here are a few comments: 1) It is unclear why there is a dash in the game. It is needed in one place and there is no need to use it anymore. 2) There are moments in the game when you need to jump into the unknown, and since the abyss looks the same, the player can get stuck in one place without understanding what to do. 3) There are not enough music settings. This music made me feel uncomfortable. I would like to have the ability to turn it off. In principle, the game is normal. Considering that this is your first game, then even more so.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!! I'll keep in mind the level design more in the future games. Also could you recommend me some courses for music making (since I know that I really lack in that part of game dev)?

Submitted

I haven't taken any music courses. So I have nothing to recommend to you.

Interesting concept, could definitely be expanded upon as a puzzle game or even some sort of horror if you really wanted to. Cool game :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! as a matter of fact I was actually considering making a new game based on this, since I'm getting a lot of positive feedback for the concept :D

The music, droning atmosphere noises and the changing layout of the house reminds me a lot of "MyHouse.wad".  All of that vibe in a simple platformer - really inspiring stuff tbh. Well done!

Developer

thank you!

Great! The house changing for each level is an interesting choice as well. Enjoyed this short and sweet game quite a bit!

Cute little platformer. Movement is very clean. Some of the quick camera movements, like when you dash, are a little bit jarring.
