Nice game! I didn't expect find a fighting game in this Jam, but what a great surprise! Well done!

Dude, serious props for making a fighting game! Obviously the AI and such are just too much to deal with in such a short time, but what you have is impressive for just 3 weeks.

Loved the end of the fight.. right before he dies he pummels you.. wow, great touch!

Developer

Haha, you may have found another bug! His death animation is just supposed to be falling over. Maybe he caught a few on ya before you ended him. Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

Haha, no! The whole fight he blocked until I stayed away long enough, then I punched him 5 times. Repeat until he died. Then once his life was gone I lost control, the leaf man did a little dance, a then he punched me like 10 times before falling over. I LOLed so loud!

Hope you get a chance to rate my game and leave some feedback, too!

Developer

For sure! I’m at an event thing today but I’ll definitely check yours out! Thanks again!

I played the game again and I realize that its not hard to read I think the first time I played the text from defeat and victory were triggered so I couldn't read it.

Developer(+1)

Ohhh, I see. There’s a bug I need to fix to resolve that. Thanks again!

I liked the game play feel. I loved the art and animation of the characters. I like that you included a controls screen.  I just wish those screens were a bit bigger or full screen. I like the leaf particles. one e end text font was a little  hard to read.

good job.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback! I'll try to make those panels a little bit bigger in the first update. Do you remember which font text was hard to read?

A fighting game for a jam is definitely taking on a lot, but you definitely have something to be proud of.  The animations and overall feel are pretty good, it felt satisfying to attack.  The AI could definitely use some work, and some more attacks could be added, but this is a good base to add more to.

Developer

I plan to release updates after the voting ends, and adding additional moves and combos is a priority for sure. Thanks for the playing and the feedback!

Cool idea. Great animation. The main character, while a pile of leaves, definitely *feels* beefy. I don't know how that's accomplished, but I'm impressed.

The enemy is not very aggressive--he spends most of his time blocking, and only occasionally attacks. Also, a sound effect should play upon victory! Finally, a thematic quibble: green leaves don't typically fall off trees; it might make more sense if the leaves making up the main character were yellow, orange, and red.

Great point about Leaf’s color. I had originally thought he was intended to “fight” the autumn changes. In fact, his character sprites are in greyscale, so changing them to another color would be easy. When I wrote the summary I wasn’t really thinking about the original backstory!

I definitely plan to change the behavior on Stumps. I’d like to put in a way to detect the player wailing on him before he blocks, instead of simply counting hits.

Thanks very much for playing, and the feedback!

Oh boy, that was fun! Your title drew me in and gameplay didn't disappoint. I don't know how, but I was both victorious and defeated at the same time. Stumpy didn't throw a single punch, he just threw sticks and blocked until I got him down to 1 (or 0) health. Then, he went nuts and let out like 100 punches at once. It was funny because I still had decent health and time to react, so I just started spamming punches back. It got really hectic until we both died. I assume that was a bug triggered when he died (maybe not?), but it was really fun! Game felt very responsive in my browser. The attacks were great and I would've loved to use combos or something. Still, for 3 weeks this was a solid game. Great job all around!

Thanks for the feedback! I hadn't considered what would happen if both characters reached 0 health - I'll have to make that scenario result in a draw when I make the first update.

Developer(+2)

I just recreated it - Stumps knocked me out mid-victory dance. Haha!

Submitted(+1)

Haha, nice! It was a bug I'll forever remember :)

The title said it all, but still I wasn't expecting to punch a stump with leaves...
but I felt less ashmed of my fighting skills when the opponent started punch spamming like I was doing :D

I tend to be a button masher as I'm not super into fighting games, so creating one was an interesting challenge. Hopefully I can figure out how to make the opponent vary it up for future iterations!
