What work did you complete today?

Every day if you want, reply on what work you got done today.

I started on storyboarding last night (jam started at 11 pm here), and watched a few refresher tutorials for my game engine of choice

Today, I finished the main character's spriteset, programmed the controls and physics for the character, programmed the death/game over sequence, made some neat chiptune for the intro level, and started creating said level.

Next I'm gonna implement the first enemy and a mini-boss, as well as a title screen.

Have a little sneak peek (WIP)

Parsec

I’ve been at work for 10+ hours with only one break. this is my first ever jam of any kind. This is a procedural space shooter with pickups, different weapons etc.

it is a lot smoother than the gif shows :)

I'm doing a space shooter too!
You start looks awesome, however if I can make you a lil remark: sprite/particles rotations wasn't possible back in the GB days. Even if the game looks great, it could feel a bit "off" compared to what a GB is able to do.

Anyway cool stuff, keep going!

thanks for the suggestion, man! will have to change my whole wave code now :-D

I mean you don't have to right :) It's just my personal feeling, I'm sure a lot of people will do the same thing about rotated sprites to be honest.

You shouldn't use fade out effects, as it results in more than 4 colors on screen

yep, changed that now :)

ugh, NOT as much as I was hoping
I thought I had a basic understanding of GB Assembly, but it's harder than it looks
Glad I chose as basic a game as possible

I feel that. My progress in assembly is making me feel inferior!

Can I post videos here?

My first enemies :)

Looking good! I like the skeleton art.

As it turns out, Godot has 3D tile maps! :O Sweet!

Day 2 went way better than Day 1

It may not look like much, but this combination of Sprite and Background tiles with user inputs, written in Game Boy Assembly is a huge step forward for me.

On my first two days I was extremeley busy but I managed to make all the backrounds and menu's.

This is my favourite backround I made although it will look much better when I put the sprites in

I just made some sprites and a mockup.

Here is a Devlog Video I made.

In the last few day I:

-Forgot to post progress here lol

-Added and finished balancing the enemies and the mini-boss

-Finished the intro level

-Added a intro cutscene and a tutorial with the controls

-Added a title screen

-Added some sounds and music tracks

Today I'm planning to add a new level as well as new enemies and the first real boss, and maybe I will also add a score system or something but I'm not convinced yet

It's done. My game is done. I couldn't get the audio working. It's a short game, but it has two endings. I can't wait to see your feedback! https://mikes.itch.io/i-am-you

In the past few days I made the menus, all sprites and implemented everything. The enemy's are proving quite difficult to code but I still have 3 days so I should be able to finish them by then.

I have ALL the art done (backgrounds, sprites, title screen, etc)  Collisions and the basics of the quest are done as well. All the dialogue is written.  Need to add logic, and the triggers for events.  Almost done!

Today I realized that I have no time to  finish the game, so the only option left is to upload an still incomplete (but polished as much as possible) prototype/beta that has only 2 levels out of the 6 I planned

I am in pain

And today I updated my game by adding a lot of bugfixes and adding a screen with the names of my beta testers, because I promised them that their names would be in the credits.
