My childhood dream was to create a game, but I made my first one when I was 28 years old :')
I made my first game, an implementation of Othello, when I was in high school, in BASIC on an Apple II+ (and then a 6502 assembly version that played really fast and incorrectly, and then a parallel processing version in college for my thesis), but I didn't work for a game studio until I was 35, started self-publishing on app stores in my 40s, and finally on Steam (and itch.io of course) in my 50s.
I think I was 12/13 when I first published my games, though they were crappy text-based games I uploaded to a previous and pretty bad version of my website. I also tried selling CDs of my games to other middle schoolers and learned the hard way you can't trust middle schoolers to keep their word on paying you, lol.
I am 35 and i just made my first game. It's a bit late to start learn coding and unity, but it was a child dream to make a point and click adventure in the old Lucas Arts Look. Now my dream is to have a team and make something bigger :-)
