Im a late starter to ITCH.IO.

I started making Unity games 6 months ago and ended up finding something of a sanctuary here at the start of the year.

At first it felt like a jump i may not be prepared to take, being so rooted in Steam.

But I must say i love it here a lot, not had so much fun online for a long time.

It is an impressively streamlined experience to publish software.

Favourite thing: browsing by latest upload and just throwing myself into all sorts of odd experiences.

The Jams and community are a breath of fresh air also. very wholesome.

Im still quite unsure about the history of the site. I feel like I should have been here earlier.

But hey ho, No time like the present :)

How long have you been here and what's yer favourite things about this strange realm?

EDIT: My actual favourite thing about ITCH.IO: My eyes have seen things they will NEVER unsee.

I first started browsing Itch.io sometime in 2014, and finally joined in autumn for the first PROCJAM. That was an amazing experience, and still what defines Itch.io to me, even if I was in few jams since then. But all of them were just as good.

But I thought you were the guy who started this website...

I have been here for a year - that's when I started making Unity games. I took my first tutorial on brackeys and made the cube platformer game.
Then I started getting more serious into game development, made more games. Itch is great for indie games so I'm gonna stay here for a while.
My favourite thing about itch is that this is a good place to be for starting indie developers, like myself.

I started using itch.io in late 2019 when I uploaded the demo of Chuhou Joutai 1. I've been using it for a year and a half now.

Since 2014.

After about two decades of computer gaming (Amiga500 started it), when 2013 was coming to an end I was playing GTA1 again and wished it had more frames per second. I thought I should make a modern clone with 60fps so I searched Google for "game making software" and of course Gamemaker popped up. Quickly found out GTA1 is too hard for a programming newb, but I've  been loving gamedev ever since.

I mostly like how easy it is to upload and make nice game pages here.  But so much other stuff too, like the clean look and layout.
