Awesome game! From a fellow "interpret the theme as pick a gun" jammer, you did a great job delivering a fun game and the dice aspect of choosing what face the weapon is on is a clever idea. However, I don't know if this was a purposeful design decision, but I felt like the tiny platformer area was a little too small and limiting. Also, the jump felt a little weak and floaty, but the combat still felt great.

Thanks for the feedback! Will definitely consider all of it when improving the game after the jam

That's great cause I want to add some of that after the jam!

Thank you!

the animation and movement is great! Music would've been nice thoug

This is definitely the coolest concept I've seen come out of this jam. The fact that you executed it so well blows me away. The art is great, the controls are tight, the effects are punchy, and even the music is awesome. Great job!

Cool game, but the defense mode could've used a little work if you weren't on such a time crunch. The infiltration was fun though. Great job!

Cool idea! I wasn't good enough to ever trace a shape completely in the lines but it was fun anyway. The dialogue at the beginning was a nice touch.

I love simple arcadey concepts like this that end up being really fun to play! This game gets a lot of use out of a cool simple pong twist idea. Well done

*Chef's kiss*

Cool art! I liked the screen effect

Awesome art work! The cover art is very cool

Cool idea. Could've used some sound but still enjoyable. It was a fun challenge to not fling myself around everywhere

This game made me wish there was a polish rating category just so I can give it 5 stars! Good job

Great game! I made it to level 13

Super polished game! The puzzle platforming mix feels great to play and the great effects are a fun added bonus

Glad you liked it cause I kinda hated how it turned out lol

That's exactly what I thought XD

This was a great idea! The game was super simple and easy to learn, but fun to play at the same time. The only problem I had with it was that it got really hard to catch the blue ropes by the end, but I guess that's part of the challenge. I enjoyed this one a lot.

Here's my metroidvania: Crystal Core by RotundMammoth (itch.io) Hope you have fun!

Really cool idea! I liked the map, and the menus were well laid out and easy to navigate. I don't know if this was just my computer or if its a code problem, but I got stuck in the ground a lot. Other than that, it's a cool game. Good job!

Cool Idea! The dialogue was witty, and the puzzles felt good to solve. Overall, it was a fun, polished experience.

Cool idea! The main mechanic was unique and fits the theme well. The player movement also felt really snappy (in a good way). Something I would've liked a lot would be some way for the other character to follow you so you don't have to constantly switch between them, but the switching was quick and easy.

Hi, I'd appreciate it if you check out my metroidvania! Here's the link and a screenshot: Rate Crystal Core by RotundMammoth for Brackeys Game Jam 2021.1 - itch.io

Awesome game! I loved the art, but my favorite part of the game would probably have to be the slime sound just because it fits so perfectly! Overall great use of the theme.

Glad you like it :) I originally wanted to make the character slow and have weak jumps to convey his size and weight, but I didn't really revisit that so it ended up just being annoying to control.

That's a good idea! If I ever revisit the game I'll definitely add a sprint button and checkpoints.

Cool idea, and (like everyone else says) great animations! I was a fan of the music in this one. Good job!

This was a great concept! It was super simple to learn, but really entertaining to play

Here's a link to my game, along with a screenshot. Check it out if you get the chance.

I loved exploring the metroidvania world! I ended up making a metroidvania too, so I thought your world design was really cool and fun to see. I also had the bug a few other players had where crates would fall on the torch, but I played the web version instead of the download, so I'll cut you some slack there :) Game design wise, this is one of my favorite jam games I've played yet!

You did a great job on this game! I loved the art and the neon color palette. The music was really good too.

I liked the lighting and the city background, but for some reason the double jump stopped working, so I was only able to get to level four. Not sure if this happened to anyone else or if it was just me. The game seemed cool though!

I made a platformer metroidvania. Here it is for those who are interested: https://rotundmammoth.itch.io/crystalcore

Here's a picture too.

Great Game! I got stuck in a bush once, and it would happen to the ninjas sometimes too, but other than that, it was a super fun polished experience. Loved the artstyle.

Thanks for pointing that out! I didn't have a ton of time to test that system, so I guess I missed that.

Just finished my game: "Crystal Core!" If you end up playing it, feel free to leave a comment or a rating. I would love feedback! Here's a screenshot, and here's a link: https://rotundmammoth.itch.io/crystalcore

Same here. I thought it was a good idea to make a metroidvania for some reason. I'll definitely finish, but I've had to work on it nonstop. I'm also a first-time jammer :D

Wow that's great! Thanks so much

Thanks for the attempt! If you can't get one done, don't worry about it though.
