Nice game concept! This is very fun and I think the singleplayer mode as a lot of potential. The graphics are very top notch too as the other comments have pointed out. Gameplay wise, a minor complaint would be the controls - it would make more sense for the single player controls to be 4 vertically aligned keys (like 1qaz) instead of the arrow keys.
To sync music with game events you have two options. One, you can decide on a BPM value then build an array of "beats" at which you want the events to fire. You then store an integer representing the index of the beat you are expecting next (starts at 0). Then in an update loop, you fire an event if the audio clip (in seconds) is past the current beat (converted to seconds) you are expecting.
You can also manually set the position of objects every frame according to the music. All the math is linear so it shouldn't be too bad.
Check out our game, it is also a rhythm game ;)
Wow, did not expect to see a card game submission! Very creative idea and good art. You did well with the limited scope granted to you by the week long jam. I think this is a project you should continue developing, it has potential.
There is a bug where cards are no longer responsive if you spam the End Turn button too quickly.
I don't think it is necessarily a bug, it's a "core" feature of similar games of this type: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokoban I don't think you were necessarily going for a puzzle game, but the mechanics are very similar to Sokoban.
Basically, the idea is that if you push an object against an edge 3 blocks wide you can no longer move it back. The main goal of such games is to avoid situations like this. Most of those games have a quick restart option.
Nice emotional take on the classic "put the boxes in the right places" game (forgot the exact name). Very artistically inspired game, music in particular is very nice.
A small complaint - there are certain situations where the level becomes impossible to complete unless the level is restarted. However, restarting triggers the initial cutscene. A fast restart would be a good addition.
Fun game! I could see this being developed into an addicting mobile game. The pacing of the game in particular is better than most other games on here!
Just a small concern not addressed in the comments below - the move speed of the player character is perhaps too fast compared to the size of the camera. Either decrease the wolf's speed or increase the field of view.
The menu music sounds really nice too, it really grows on you.
Always nice to see other rhythm-based games! Very polished game, in particular the UX and pixel art are top notch. The "act in rhythm" mechanic is a nice idea, and I would have like to see it be the central mechanic of the game. Perhaps some feedback on how close the player was (etc. "early!" or "late!" popups) would be nice.
Hello everyone!
I am a Unity programmer who has teamed up with a sound designer and we are looking for people to join our team for this game jam! We are especially looking for a 2D artist. Here's a project we worked on in global game jam (a few days ago):
