I didn't finish it, but I loved the level design and music! It was a really cool story idea too. Great game!

The game was cool! I liked the art, the different levels, awesome music, ... I couldn't finish it though, got a bit hard for me and it was also a bit hard to distinguish from immovable objects and interactable objects (obviously because of the jam). I did want to see how it ended, so I watched the walkthrough. It really is a good game and I think that a remake (without the Nokia Jam Restrictions) would also be very fun. I didn't really understand the ending, though.

Thank you for you review!

About the game’s plot: Game starts from a moment, when mouse’s relatives were taken by birds on the top of the mountain (every entity on this height slowly freezes even when it’s day). And saving its relatives becoming the main goal of the game. So the mouse goes up to the mountain’s top and saves them by pushing from tree on hillside, where they will be unfrozen. But the mouse gets freezed exactly after this. And in the end of titles small picture show that the mouse was eaten by a bird.

And the meaning of all of this is: You always have to pay something for what you want. Or alternatively, it’s my small rebellion against sweet endings in games (and not only).

Reminds me a lot of Risk of Rain! Quite the challenging game, but fun nonetheless!

it was really clever to press c to reveal hunger and time considering how limited the play area is. i think the visuals, mechanics, and sound created a very interesting vibe that kept me engaged. good job !

Very fun game, the mechanics are simple and the graphics are very polished, the game reminds me a lot of games like Limbo

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I’ve never tried Limbo, but it looks interesting, so I will try it soon.

Good work man! I hope you'll make a non nokia version! I really like it! Even the mouse movement, perfect!

Developer

Thank you very much! I also want to make a full story, but I don’t know, do a lot of people want it.

by now, for me, the best game of the jam. Super complete, smooth, interesting, mysterious, long. You can save it and continue. Im not done yet, but I lovet it. The art is great, all the creatures look very alive just with a few pixel. 5/5 rated.

Developer

Thank you very much! I think if this game gets into the top three winners, I’ll make a full game not in nokia restrictions. There are a lot of different creatures and places that I wanted to add, but didn’t have time. image.png image.png

Really fun! It must've taken a long time to make that whole map, too.

I had to watch the playthrough to grasp how the mechanics worked at first, but it was smooth sailing after that. Grew really fond of the little guy's journey by the end of it. Keep at it!

👏 congrats for your game! You achieve to put a very large game/map that is still "readable" for a small screen. For this kind of game (and map), what was the most challenging aspect of developing for the 84x48 pixel format?

Developer

I think the hardest was to create these maps. It took me about 20 hours to make them (50 hours in total). It was hard and long. I had to draw only hitboxes of the map, move it to engine, test it, fix some jumps, decorate the map, and add all enemies and items.

I love the idea and concept of the game. The gameplay is also very nice. It was a bit confusing at first but after a minute, it made sense. The art was extremely detailed even at such a low resolution.

Great game.
