This is awesome!
The time-stop mechanic is fun and executed very well.
The level design is also really good. Good job on introducing all the new concepts.
I love that the game slowly introduces it's lore through small scenes that just happen passively in the levels.
The game is pretty hard, but it's a managable challenge. And like that the reward to beating a level is way higher.
I also tried (and succeded) to beat some of the later levels with less time-stops than were given to me.
I don't know if it's intentional that you can do that but it's great that the player can give themselves a bigger challenge.
Great work!
Thanks for playing the game, I'm glad you had fun!
Yeah, I tried to design a few of the later levels to have multiple ways of beating them—this is actually the main thing I wish I'd had more time to expand on and work into the final level. It's something all my favorite platformers do to some extent. It makes it more likely for a player to beat a level in a way they enjoy, and it can potentially help them progress instead of getting stuck because there's only one path and it involves a specific trick they struggle with. It's also satisfying to discover obscure paths and outsmart what seems like the intended way!
This was awesome! The art style is very simple but easy to understand, the sounds complement the mechanics, and the time stopping is used very well with the obstacles. There was also a very light "plot" with the other Npcs being bounced/tortured around, which was cool and funny too!
Also the difficulty is good, but at what was probably the last level I had to give up because it was waay to long, and redoing all of it after dying was a little to much for me, but I felt that I got how well designed the game was, so congrats!
Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! ♥
Totally understandable about the last level, it's definitely a challenge. If it weren't for playtesting it would've released in a considerably more difficult state too, which turned out to be way excessive for the progression I was able to work into the game within the deadline.
The level design in this game is amazing! The difficulty curve is just right and the mechanics and hazards are introduced smoothly. That last level was incredibly hard but I couldn't help but keep trying again and again. It's super fun and crafted expertly. I'm surprised this is your first jam game
Thanks! I'm really happy to hear you liked it, and congrats on beating the game!
Like every other commenter has said, incredible level design! You struck a nice rhythm of having to balance your ability to progress and precision platforming which makes the game challenging, intuitive, and fun. Great work!
Thank you! It means a lot to hear you enjoyed it, and I'm glad I was able to make it feel intuitive.
difficult one, gets addicting fast, you have to carefully time your actions to beat the levels, i liked the freeze time mechanic, you had to understand when to use it to not waste it.
Overall great game!
I m playing it Just now! I really like it, very well made! Very good work man!!
Love this level design, though I am certainly finding it quite hard as a lot of the movement needs to be quite tight! Great job!
Amazing level design!! Simple but executed really well, and all of the concepts felt intuitive with how they were introduced. Nice entry :)
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Wat
Someone found the secret room! Congrats!
The game is a masterclass in level design.
Your character's movement is basic, limited even, but every mechanic introduced was given time to flesh out and combine into an engaging experience. The bounce pad mechanic in particular creates some funny background events that double as world-building.
There are even levels that want you to ration your time stop correctly to progress.
Every level has its checkpoint which helps players familiarize themselves with the mechanics.
And the final gauntlet kicked my ass, but I did it anyway! The ending was really satisfying too!
Finally, what is this?! 10/10
Thank you! Hearing all this means a lot to me. ♥
Congratulations on beating the game!
I really liked the game, although it is a bit too unforgiving for my reaction times and coordination skills :D but at least I only needed to start from the same screen. I got through a lot of levels, I think, but stuck on one. This is a game where the monochrome palette is a plus, otherwise the whole screen would be red by now. It is a neat little platformer, it was fun to play, great job!
I'm really happy to hear you had fun!
For the record, what level were you stuck on? I like learning about people's experiences with my games for future ones.
No need to worry, it's absolutely just the lack of my skills. On the level I'm starting from the left, the right part is split in two, the part on top has about 8 arrow shooters from top to bottom and a switch, the bottom part has two jump pads and an arrow shooter on the left - the pads throw me right into the arrows - and the exit. I always got the arrow somehow :)
Here's the solution, it does take a bit of skill, but it's not pixel-perfect.
Spoiler
Use time stop at the bottom path, it's possible to clear the top path as-is.Oh! I haven't tried that, thanks!
