Neat take on the theme and the different traits were at times very hilarious. I love the art and you found the right audio to match it too. Very minor complaint but I wish I could click through dialogue as well so I didn't have to use the space bar. Not sure what happened with my playthrough as I didn't get any sort of win/lose/endgame screen so not sure if I did something wrong or if there wasn't one. Otherwise, had a good chuckle and it was quite fun!

The art is good, I'm just not entirely sure what's going on?

For instance, there was a round where my heaven task was to send everyone to heaven, and my hell task was to send one person to heaven who didn't belong there. Sounds easy, those goals don't conflict with each other, so if I send everyone to heaven I should stay balanced. But then I did send everyone to heaven, and it said I hadn't completed the goals and hell was still too powerful???

We run out of time, so the game over/win screen is nonexistent :) There are 2 ways the game ends now - throws you out to the main menu (if heaven or hell is overwhelming the other) or all the characters start reciting lorem ipsum - if you kept the balance all the way.  Maybe we will have the time to improve it after the jam, but for now it is what it is. Thanks for playing!

I love decision makings games but I am not sure if I finished the game or not.

I actually need to read comments here before I wrote mine because I was not sure. @Envilon Script mentioned before an evil guy favors hell and a good guy favors(?) heaven all the time no matter what we chose thus the scale moves one direction.  I have no idea what the quest did but I guess that was the system that is balancing this.

What I would do about the deeds  was this.  I would list all the deeds in one list and even after the eye reveal the deeds will only show their absolute value. Anyways than let the player put the deeds on the left or right if the eye is open it would also auto calculate the scores.   With more questionable deeds  this would make the decision making  more interactive. Furthermore I would add a second eye mechanic reveal that shows some white space we could not see before. Like the guy we were sending hell because "he pulled a lever to kill 1 guy" text would turn into "he pulled a lever to kill 1 guy to save_5 other_guys on the rail"

I enjoyed playing this game and keeping the scale in balance. Until the numbers appeared which gave a value to each trait, it was a little hard for me to tell if I was making correct decisions or not. Also I was a little confused by only getting to visit one of Hell or Heaven, not both. I really like the system to cast your vote which reminded of Papers, Please. Overall fun game and really cool artwork!

The background of the game page is a bit scary, but otherwise your game is beautiful, I really like the style. And your gameplay is very interesting it reminds me of the game I made for the previous ludum dare where we had to select the right people to send into space, but I think you've done a much better job with the concept and your game is much more interesting to play. Really good work ;)

Interesting concept.  I found the bad/good things chosen to be humorus.  I also mostly liked the graphics/art direction.  Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of the UI but It's interesting when you get the hang of what's trying to happen.

I love the concept and I think the moral system is pretty great. A lot of the choices gave me a bit of a laugh so I was able to have a very enjoyable experience. I made it all the way to "Senior Intern Specialist" (if I'm not mistaken this is what it was called hahaha). Great work everyone!

Very interesting idea! I loved the art style and sound design very much. However, the traits are kinda unclear and ambiguous. Everyone perceives them differently based on their moral compass so it was hard to figure out what values you have assigned them before receiving the Eye of Horus. After that, it was also difficult to figure out how the mechanics of balancing work in order to affect the final result (I still have no clue).

Some other things:

  • There is no ending and the game soft locks at the end when back in the menu.
  • In one run I somehow managed to get all the characters to recite lorem ipsum to me.
  • The SPACEBAR to proceed in dialogues is very unfortunate when the rest of the game is controlled with a mouse.

Also, tell Bast to chill a bit. :D

thanks for playing with the game and for your feedbacks. so the idea of the gameplay loop would be to keep Heaven and Hell balanced. eg. if Heaven's score is around 75, Hell should be around -75, etc. every character has a score according to their traits, and that score adds to the value of Heaven and Hell, to where you send the soul. so if you send an overall -8 valued soul to Heaven, Heaven would lose 8 points. but if you send the soul to Hell (the right decision), Hell's score receives -8 (they go negative direction). the main reason the visit Hell or Heaven mechanic is to check how the score is, and try to figure out, what could be the right balance. probably could have explained it more, but tbf wanted to give the players the liberty to play the game as they wish and don't feel they have to make right decisions. to extend that if you finish the quest lines, you have the option to side with either Heaven or Hell as an extra victory condition, I'm very sorry you came towards an immersion breaking error. we'll look into the bugs you noticed!

That sounds very misleading. Because what you have described is that if I have a -8 character the balance will always change in the favor of hell no matter what my decision will be. If I send them to hell, it gains 8 points, if I send them to heaven, it will lose 8 points. This means that hell will always “gain” 8 points in their favor.

Now the interesting speculative part: I would suspect that this can be inverted for a positive character, meaning that it will always be in favor of heaven no matter my decision. If this is the case, that sounds like the overall balance of the scale is pre-determined by the randomness of the characters I get and my choices don’t affect it.

But I think that Ammut said in one instance that he wants me to bring some good people to hell as well. Then, I would expect that would be a positive outcome for him (not losing points but gaining points for positive characters I send to hell). Which would empirically tilt the whole balance toward hell.

Maybe the quests have a significant effect on the balance but I was unable to verify this. For me, the information if I finished a quest was not sufficiently conveyed. For example, I had one quest for heaven to “bring all characters to heaven for the round” and I did that for multiple rounds and the quest was unchanged. And because of the RNG, hell was significantly better off after I did that.

I liked the variety in Faces and different Moral characteristics that you came up with. They really made the game, and injected lots of humour and character. Dialogue is also made to a high standard.

One very minor improvement you could make is that the some of the UI (e.g. arrows at side of screen) kind of blends in with the rest of the game, making it hard to differentiate what is interactable or not. Maybe change the tone of their colours or something to make them stand out?

Overall cool idea for a game. Definitely fits the Game Jam theme.
