This is like Inception but with hats that are also gardens! It's so cool to see characters inside of characters inside of characters! Wonderful concept and execution! I would love to see it if you made another release!

Developer

Thanks a lot! I'm working on it right now :D

If you want to see the updates, maybe it's possible to follow the game on itch.io? Or if not, my profile?

I'm thinking about joining the "post-jam" event also ( https://itch.io/jam/post-jam-jam-7 )

I love the idea and the implementation of this game! Using recursion as a game mechanic is very interesting and the game looks really cute!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah I put my best pixel art skills in it x)

Cool and unique concept, I was a quite lost when it comes to what I should be doing, but trying out different interactions and figuring it out bit by bit was still fun.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yes the game needs better instructions. The pages can give you some hints, and the "supposed" goal was to find a way to get a crystal and put it on the central slot.

Among the possible interactions, you can:

- drop objects on your hat or your character (with different effects)

- combine two objects (wood branch + rock) to spawn a tool

- use the tool to break big rocks

A pretty cool idea for a puzzle game! I didn’t quite understand the health / stamina system and I could not figure out how to interact with the lake, but the main puzzle was pretty fun. At one point, crystal slots just stopped spawning for me and I’m not sure if I could have done anything about it.

Definitely a concept worth exploring further!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot, I may go further with the concept!

Too bad for the crystal slot, it's a bug and that's the second time I hear about it :(

The lake was supposed to give you drops of water to give you some stamina, as the fruits do. Stamina is only changing your move speed. It was there o you have to choose between giving something to your character or your hat ^^

I'm thinking about changing "health" by age as it's only a timer (at start I thought we could delay it with water or fruits but...).

interesting game, good job.

Very unique idea! Nice job!!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Your game looks very nice too, checking it right now :)

Really interesting concept!  I enjoyed learning the different item combinations and uses, nice work!

Developer

Thanks a lot!

Interesting take on theme. I will say that this idea is very unique to all the other submissions and it seems like a cool concept. In terms of the actual gameplay, there isn't much to do and some things you can't even interact with. Some suggestions I'd give to make it more interesting is probably to allow you to control both the character and the character within the other characater's hat at the same time and make it so that what you do in one world affects the other world (its a bit of a weird concept, but you can be creative with it). Overall, very creative idea but could be presented and implemented better.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your comments!
The interactions you suggest are in the game, but I did not have the time to put the instructions in the game, only on the page :/

Like:
- putting rocks and fruits on your hat, which make spawn the same object in a bigger version.
- combining rock and wood to make tools.
- you can actually control 2 characters at the same time.

Here are the controls:
- Right click to control the camera
- Middle click to zoom in and out (this way you can switch between the 2 alive characters)
- Left click to interact (take objects, combine them when it's possible, use them on your character, use them on your hat)
- WASD for move

It was a bit ambitious and experimental for a solo dev, so I could not find enough time to present it well, sorry for that!

I have no idea what is going one but I can't stop playing!

Developer

Beware the stack overflow! ^^

Developer

Also are you the Unity tutos/plugin recommendation Youtube channel (got a lot of nice stuff from there!) or this Code Monkey name is a coincidence?

Submitted(+1)

Liked the hat-ception concept !

I discovered a very cool game, with the interactions on the object (creating a pickax)

Not gonna lie, I wasn't exactly sure what to do to finish completely finish the game, but I'm sur with some simple explanation in-game it will be neat !

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Totally agree about the explanation problems, I would have loved to get a bit more time for that!

Actually the "end" (just a message in the UI) happens when you insert a crystal on the center crystal slot

Submitted(+1)

The idea is excellent, well done Luc! I spend a good 5 minutes looking for what I could do with everything. I did not finish it since I had crystal but did not know what to do with it (and no pink square to put crystal in it anymore). I've noticed a new bug: one time I spawned on a lake and could not move untill the character dies. Also, I never find how to interact with the lake, and I wish a could had more time before my character dies. Aside from that, good game :D

Developer

Oh thank G-Ro! Sadly I hadn't the time for proper instructions and UX, it was a bit ambitious.

You mean the below screenshot square slot disappeared? :o This would mean my bug list will increase even more ^^""

Thanks also for finding that "spawned on a lake" bug!

Actually the lake was supposed to spawn a drop in your hand (and you could use it to make more lakes spawn on your hat => new feature creap but cool idea: maybe spawning 3 or more lakes on a hat could change it drastically!!!).

Totally agree for the too short lifetime. I think about making it last longer + getting a way to shorten it (fast forward in time).

YUP, that's the pink square I was looking for but never find when I finally had crystal in my hands 😭

Really a great idea, i'd like to see it as a real puzzle game! I think there are lots of possible intressting mechanics in this game. Would be really cool if those transmissions were seamless, but, come on, it's 48 hours :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, this camera transition was the far most difficult thing I made. Working with titanic scale changes if hardcore!

After making the "zoom in" I thought "zoom out" would be the same but in reverse, and... not at all :'D

Sure there is so many crazy things to do!

Submitted(+1)

It's interesting concept, to have multiple 'self' by zoom in and out, almost surreal I think, althrough I was a bit confused with the goal of the game loop :P

Developer(+1)

Yeah it needs some informations about that. You win when you fill that "crystal slot" in the middle of the hat, I admit it's not easy to reach!

Key features for it are that:

- you can drop some objects on your hat (rocks and fruits), and they become bigger versions of themselves there.

- you can combine some objects together (big dropping one on another).

Submitted(+1)

Had a hardtime understanding exactly what to do at first, but ended up enjoying the experience, very unique take on that, hats off ! Nice game!

Developer

Yeah I did not have time to explain all of the features inside of the game.

Also I'm not sure people think about putting some objects on their hats!
