How does your game fit the theme?
It's a reversal of katamari's mechanics! Instead of navigating space, you play as the universe exerting gravitational pull.

THIS IS SO ADORABLE OH MY ... i would not launch my dog into space but i might launch myself up there for a chance to meet laika... the gameplay was lovely and the interactions between laika and the universe were so silly and oddly compelling !!! just a wonderful job overall !!!!!
Fantastic Game! One of the most interesting submissions I've played so far. The concept is very unique and combined with great visuals and music it creates a very relaxing and just overall enjoyable experience. Great Work, Good Job!
Absolutely loved this one! The game is funny and very enjoyable to play. Artstyle, music and soud effects were very cute and worked very well with the theme.
The connection to the theme feels slightly far-fetched, I wouldn't have gotten it at all if it wasn't written on the submission page.
Otherwise, there's really nothing bad I can say about this game. Really, really solid entry. Great job! :)
I have never played Katamari so I was going into this blank. I really enjoyed the game regardless. It was such a fun game. Also, you guys did all this art and music in such a short time? That is outstanding. Lovely game overall :)
Cute game! Extremely well done and captures the feel of a katamari game while being a flip on the idea. I particularly love how the objects being knocked loose become satellites for the planets.
Hey! you guys seem to also have created and rigged a character in the time! I loved playing your game and the feeling of spinning Laika around is one of the best and most polished from the games I've played in the Jam! Congrats!
Thank you I'm so glad you liked it!!!! :D
I really like modeling and rigging simple characters like these. The characters I rig are usually much more complicated but just having a few joints and controls to place makes it so much fun. and claire did a great job on the animations.
Also I'm so in love with the snail you made for your game o_o
The visuals with the attraction and the debris are cool.
The game itself is very cute. Perfect for playing at 3am
There's two different effects, both of which are made using the Shapes plugin for Unity! Both of them could most likely be done without the plugin, though.
The gravitational pull is a quad drawn between the planet and the dog, and it's using an arctan function to determine its angle using the difference in positions. The width and opacity changes based on the distance, too. This could be done in vanilla Unity by creating a procedural mesh and modifying its vertices, and adding a custom shader/material that creates the gradient with a slider for distance.
The orbiting effect is done with an arc that changes opacity + length based on the dog's velocity, but you could definitely do the same thing with a trail effect. Let me know if you want more detail!
It's cool, its fun, it looks and sound great, it's relaxing, GG !!! In the end the cute little dog had some weird movement I don't know if it was intended or not. I think it's "too easy" to use the side of the screen to bounce back and forth with a planet near the edge, maybe instead of bouncing back the dog should appear on the other side ? (but maybe not it could break the physics)
BRILLIANT! Somehow zen and relaxing as well... oh to be a little dog in the gentle grasp of a kind universe.
Suprisingly oddly satisfying and relaxing. Cool idea reminds me old Yeti games, where you threw the penguins to highest distances. Unfortunately, this is different concept. Love the physics it must have been hard work.
