Wow, very smooth and polished shmup. Pretty patterns I was just able to survive, getting down to my last few lives of my last continue. Partner systems are always fun, and I liked the choice of character pairings in general! As far as music goes, good stuff all around and like others I especially enjoyed Evening Star.

Developer

Tysm!! I'm so glad you liked it ^^ Though Evening star isn't in the game ^^;

Oh god I forgot the name and just searched in the comments so I copied the same mistake. Yorimashi Necrofantasia, I mean. That one. You know, the correct one. Was good

Probably the best danmaku game this jam, and one of the best games in general. The patterns are fun and reasonable to dodge in a blind run for a Normal mode player. I didn't really get the switching mechanics, but I was able to beat the game with just Marisa, and it was fun even without switching.

Unfortunately, I suffered from some occasional slow down, and I think Marisa's unfocused movement speed might be too slow, in general? If not for the slow down, I would probably have played around with it some more to go for a low-miss clear.

Not only is the danmaku great, but the art and music is also a real treat, too. Great job!

Developer

Tysm ^^ And sorry about the slowdown

shout out for that evening star remix for yukari! I found it to be a pretty tough but pretty danmaku game.

Developer

I didn't remix Evening Star for Yukari, but thanks anyway ^^

It was Yorimashi between dreams and reality ~ Necrofantasia + some of Border of Life

The visuals and various bullet patterns are very pretty, my eyes are very happy.
In the spellbook part, if you lose and press x, it continues where you left off, not sure if its intended.

Developer

Ty ^^ And yeah, no idea why that would happen, this is the first I've heard of it... I'm just gonna pretend its a feature XD

this game is incredibly polished! lotta awesome visuals, substantial amount of patterns, even a daaaaamn spell practice............i meant to get that working too............

yeah i dont have too much else to say, i kinda stayed in marisa mode the whole time, and i kept getting pleasantly surprised at the fact that there was more to the game after i beat each boss

Developer

Tysm!! So glad ya liked it ^^

Very fun! I enjoyed every last bit of the game to the point I No-Missed it - it wasn't too hard mostly thanks to the I-frame mechanic but still.
Only thing that's missing is the boss marker, this thing at the bottom of the screen that's here to indicates where the boss is - but it's not an issue, just quality of life.

It's probably obvious and already said but I think it too: it's really great to see the pattern fusions and all the tag-team things! The danmaku patterns are also recognisable for each boss character, which is pretty great fanservice for a Touhou player like me! The theme mashups too, they're as great to listen to!

Developer

I'm so glad you liked it ^^ I'll be honest, I have no idea what the boss markers are, but I'll try remembering it for next time ^^ So glad you like the music too! We had a really good team on that front ^^

I know you were really worried Kit, but this is great. Very neat sprites, nice music, good and funny writing, and fun patterns. You did great combining the characters’ danmaku and their unique styles. That’s something that even the official games could explore further. Wriggle’s bullets shining in the darkness was a neat detail. I appreciate having spell practice. I don’t think I could 1CC it, but I went back to capture every spell card after beating it the first time. I hope to see you participate in future jams as well.

I'm so glad you liked it ^^ Spell Practice was a pretty last minute addition (Literally dawn of the final day lmao) so i'm really glad it works well! Honestly? I don't think I could 1CC it either lmao

Fusion patterns are awesome and something I dig a lot. The Danmaku was also a lot of fun. Nice work.

Developer

Tysm!! I was inspired by the whole thing Violet Detector did (Though I havent played it, i did look at some footage) and the complaints a lot of people had about the duo bullet patterns having no synergy, I wanted to make double boss patterns that'd work together, so i'm glad it seems to have worked out ^^

Really cool game with fun and beautiful patterns.  The animation on the characters was also really good.  I also liked how the two-boss system interacted with the danmaku, with characters switching in and out and using their specific style of patterns.

Tysm! ^^

Oh hell yeah, Danmaku Double Dash! Loved that we got a cameo from the shikigami's too no less. The sprite work was FANTASTIC and I really loved how the attacks truly felt like a cooperative effort on the part of the girls. I've never really considered how so many 2hu's got a signature style of boolet that they use, but this game really made that apparent to me!

Developer

Tysm!! I'm so glad you noticed ^^ I was thinking a lot about that when designing each fight, of how i could make the bosses feel more different with different bullet shapes ^^

Great great great danmaku game!! I'm not the best at them even though I love em, so it gave me a challenge. I'll definitely have to retry for 1CC.

It's so impressive that there's two bosses at once, and switching between characters giving just a moment of invulnerability is great. The story was surprisingly really sweet too! I know how hard it is to add a whole plot with just some dialogue and you did a great job. The music was really pretty too. Also all of this and I haven't mentioned how beautiful the spritework and UI layout is, wow!!! The little animations are so nice.

Really good patterns and just a great shmup. I like how the patterns are new but callback to the characters spellcards from previous games too.

I'm so glad you liked it ^^

Rad danmakugame. The sprites have a lot of polish and there's quite a few of them, given the timeframe. Kinda awesome that you added two more character sprites for one spell. The music was rad and the patterns were really-well done, with enough of them present to feel like a pretty substantial game. The final bosses' patterns were by far the best ones, but each boss had their own cool gimmick, and I appreciated how they all moved in interesting ways for at least one pattern. I liked the dialogue, though parts of it felt a bit too cheesy-- it's hard to explain and a bit rich coming from someone with my tastes in stories, sorry.

Like the previous commenter said, the lack of background changes between stages/nonspell portions was pretty noticeable. Even just a color change to the same background can go a long way. But at the same time, there's not really any location changes, so it's fine. Besides that, I kinda wish you had a slightly longer invincibility time after getting hit or switching characters, considering theres no bombs. Also, I think the visible player hitbox is too small. It's more accurate to the actual size of the hitbox than what the official games do, but even without the window being small I think I'd have to squint to see it, and at that point it's no help at all. Maybe making the player character's sprite smaller would solve it too. And one last thing, the characters seem to be paired up mainly because they come from the same game a couple stages apart, and while that's neat I'd have liked to see something a bit more out-there.

Okay sorry, this review might sound negative for all that flaw-listing, but keep in mind these are real minor nitpicks. The core game here is really good, and I admire how you were able to put so much danmaku in here.

Developer

Tysm for the feedback! I originally meant to add in background changes (The Hakurei Shrine for stage 1, a Stage for stage 3, etc.) but ran out of time, will definitely add those in a post jam version (Which tbh i'll wait for summer to end if I ever do, coding under the heat is unbearable X.X). Tysm for the graphical feedback ^^ I do apologise for the short player invincibility period, we meant to have bombs but they ended up breaking everything so I had to cut them, and didn't really compensate for it ><; And I do kinda agree with ya on the point that I should have included more crossgame ships, as a crossgame enjoyer myself (3 of the stages I had to cut for time were crossgame ones)

No worries btw, I really appreciate the criticism ^^

A very solid danmaku game. I think there could've been some more visual variety, mainly in the backgrounds.  The spritework is really well done. The dialogue is very entertaining though I feel sometimes it drags on for a while. Another big problem is the lack of being able to change the window size, on my 4k monitor its very small.

Overall a solid little danmaku with some gay lesbians in it.

Developer

Thanks for the rating ^^ I meant to add fullscreen mode at the start, but my dumb ass forgot about it, and now there's so much screen size related variables, I'd have start from scratch to add it in ^^; I should probably add in a warning somewhere about the lack of screen size changability on the itch page

I'm glad you enjoyed everything else ^^
