Like the concept and the intro. The art and the music fits well each other. The level design is a bit tricky with the placement of the trigger but that might another challenge. The player has to be in the exact place to trigger it is quite challenging too. But still, managed to get to the finish. Good Game!

Thanks for trying out the game! I'm glad to hear that you liked some aspects of the game! :D

Exceptional game 😯. I loved all the details: using old style projection for the cutscene was a nice touch, using the word of dreams vs day and how the music changes in between,  and great level design too. Quite enjoyed the experience, great work! 🙌

I like the idea, and the intro is really nicely done! I am not sure, but from the tutorial I was expecting walls to block light... except they don't? Is that intended?

Developer

Thanks for playing the game!

The walls do block light, just not the light indicator on the ground because I still don't know how to properly "crop" them if an image passes through another object. I'll have to look into it but you shouldn't get hit by the light if you're behind a wall. Still, thank you again!

a-ha! Now I get it! =) thanks for explaining

Developer

No worries! All good :) It's just my lack of skill that made it a little confusing!

I think I've played and rated your game at the first that of the submission, and I forgot to leave comment. This game has the greate mechanics to switch btw day and night to reach the final, and this fits the theme so well, and the control is smooth, great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing the game!

It's all good no worries. And I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed playing the game! :D

Wow even has an intro cinematic and dont even get me started on the aesthetics! Very cool and nice work!

Developer

Loved the dreamy vibe right from the start - the floaty, dual-coloured title screen, and the accompanying music. Nice sepia and vignette effects and audio on the intro slideshow too!

Very nice mechanics. Clever and tricky, and a good use of the theme.

Love the dynamic music when you're getting low on health!

Really nice entry, well done! :)

This was a lot of fun! I encountered a few issues with the green switches, but it's ok. As much as I liked the story and mechanics, I thought the music was outstanding! It was so cool how it would change depending on the night/day and amount of health you have left. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing the game! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed playing it and loved some aspects of the game.

About the green switches, it is possible that you're referring to the green doors not opening. This is because I intentionally added 2 green doors in each level to make it a little bit harder since I was only able to make 2 levels due to time constraints, so another green switch is hidden around the map. You should be able to see them when standing on a specific position but I can agree that I may have made the second green switch and a button quite harder to find in the first level. Still, thank you again and we appreciate it!

Totally understandable!

Wow what an awesome game.  Switch bugginess aside, this was a delightful and cleverly designed game.  Any tips for designing puzzles?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing the game!

I'm still thinking of a way to fix the switches detection but to no avail. Regarding the designs, I actually didn't plan the level designs much and was just thinking of a way on how to make things challenging while still being doable. I'm not good at level designs myself, much so with puzzles. But I appreciate it that you think of the level designs that way.

I'm a big fan !!
If I can make one suggestion, please add more feedback to interacting with a switch, more sound and maybe something in the UI, but overall its a wonderful game.

I think the issues with the switches is that you are basing them on a OnCollisionEnter, where as you should make them trigger colliders and use an OnTriggerEnter event. That then allows you to add more features in the OnTrigger such as sounds and UI changes.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing the game!

I don't mind the suggestion and I've been thinking of a way on how to fix it but to no avail. I was detecting interactable objects differently by using Raycasting than the normal Unity way of using Rigidbody and Colliders so I'm not sure if the OnTriggerEvent will work so interacting with them around the sides or especially the corners are a bit hard. I wanted to try implementing a UI notification when interacting with the switches as well but didn't have time since I was barely able to make the audio feedback work properly. Still, thanks for the suggestion and I'll see if I can try to improve upon this!

Submitted

Your right, raycasting is different to trigger colliders, so ignore my suggestion :)

I absolutely love this game. What a silly little story for such a fun mechanic to play around. The puzzles were extremely well designed as backtracking to the same area at a different time of day wasn't tedious at all, it was exciting to progress even if it meant going through the same area. Really great work!

Developer

Thanks for trying out the game! I'm glad to hear that you absolutely love it! This was such a challenge for us and I'm glad it paid off :)

Super fun! I'd totally play a full game of this.

I like the character models and light and dark mechanic.  I struggled a bit getting the character to line up just right on some of the switches to let me interact with them, maybe increasing the size of the trigger volume for interacting with the switches would fix that?  Overall, cool game, nice job!

Developer

Thanks for trying out the game!

Regarding the switches, I already tried increasing the colliders for them to be interactable but it didn't fix the issue. I guess this is happening due to how I'm trying to detect objects around the player, which is a new method for me. I'm not using the native rigidbody and colliders of Unity but instead using raycasting so I have a lot to learn to properly fix this. Still, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed some aspects of the game!

Submitted

That makes sense why it was tricky to aim, maybe look into spherecasting instead of raycasting, just one idea.

This is a solid puzzle game. I love the character designs. The levels were well thought out. I love the light mechanic in this game. Great Job!

was a lot of fun I could not get past the green door unfortunately it was not unlocking

Developer

Thanks for trying out the game! I had 2 green doors on both levels and hid the switches for the extra doors just to make the levels harder since I was only able to make 2 of them due to time constraints. But I'm still glad to hear that you found the game fun!

Submitted(+1)

I very nice concept had to quit on both levels. The doors wouldn't open or I needed to do something else as well. But I liked it nevertheless! Good work!
