Thanks! This is what we were going for with the graphics, so we're glad you noticed :)

Although the art style is not the one I would usually personally enjoy, I thinks it fit very well with this game.

The controls are responsive and it felt fun to jump around and shoot the guns (except for the low accuracy smg). Additionally, I also appreciate the infinitely respawning health and ammo.

didnt expect a fps in this jam so it suprised me! although i encountered the bug that wipes away the text on the buttons twice, the game is still very fun! love the artstyle of the enemies, also the ninjas remind me of a certain suspicious video game! also i feel like the recoil on the duo guns is too high, and sometimes the bullet looks like it hit the enemy but enemy doesnt become damaged, overall amazing submission!!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I hate this bug! It's only present on web build, and as far as I gathered it happens when resizing the screen, but only sometimes.

As for the recoil. The weapons in the game were to designed to be distinct. So you have a pistol, with no recoil but slow rate of fire, and mid damage. Uzis and shotgun, both have bigger recoil, but uzis have rapid fire, and shotgun's got tons of ammo. Last two weapons also have no recoil, but bullets move slower, so aiming it right takes a bit more skill (especially at ninjas).

Being hit, and not registering, was reported to me by two people by far (one during jam, one during development), but I haven't been able to replicate that on my machine.

Once again, thanks for playing and glad you liked it!

wow, the game is good, in special the creativity and original graphics, and the camera is similar at doom

Developer(+1)

Glad you like it! Doom was a major source of inspiration for us.

Developer

Thanks for playing, and thanks for in-depth review. It's always nice when all the things you put in the game get noticed.

As for the dialogue, I noticed it adds to the atmosphere, and is pretty easy way to inject some humor to the game, while being very easy to implement (Cutscene.cs file has less than 100 lines of code), and easy to divide work between team members (most work is on graphics side, and it happens at the time I do bugfixing).

Excellent entry. I love the art style, especially how each unique character looks and all the flavor text you added. The movement and shooting feels good, which is very important for a game like this. Every weapon has an identity and each one is very fun to use. And, like you mentioned in your review of our game, I too love when a game has plot, levels, and a boss fight at the end, and you did great in those aspects. You went the extra mile by including dialogue in your game and the writing was very funny. I pretty much finished the game without dying and found the boss fight at the end to be well done, reminded me of the spider brain boss in og doom games. Overall, very fun entry with a lot of effort put into it--and it shows.

Damn some hot games around this jam! Love the old school vibe of 3D. I think that some lower res art would fit better in this type of game but nonetheless game is fun. Mullet guy is my favorite! Keep up the good work

Developer

Glad you liked it! We considered lower-res graphics for a moment, to keep with the 90's feel, but ultimately decided against it. It just looked cooler full-rez.

As for the mullet guy- from the people I talked with he seems to be the favorite one :)

Very fun and active game, was killing it until 4 ninjas ganked me when I was inside a bus stop hahah. Would have liked if enemies had sound effects like a ninja running at you "JIAAAH".

Great job!

Developer

I always feel like I could have done more with sound in my games. Hey, I have a graphics guy, maybe I should get a sound guy too :)

As for the bus stop- it's a deathtrap :)

waa the game is so fun, hilarious and the 2.5D style it's great, i realy like that.

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it!

I really like how goofy this game is xD
Unfortunately the UI just stops working once I start the tutorial level and when I beat it, it ended up erasing all text in the endscreen and menus

Developer

This sometimes happens in web game if you change to fullscreen and back. You can download windows version, or reload the page. The game saves your progress, so you'll start where you finished!

Submitted

I love the narrative and the game design. The map is also easy to navigate and instructions are clear! Bonus points for making it a cute 2.5D experience. Love how you drew the characters! Great job.

Developer

Glad you liked it! We really focused on making the maps streamlined, so the player could focus on shootouts and humor, and not finding your way around.

I had a blast playing this game! Right from the start, I could feel the old-school Doom vibes oozing out of every pixel.

The graphics are impressive, and I particularly loved the shotgun level. Although I have to admit, my mouse had a mind of its own a couple of times and decided to jump around on me. Maybe it was just the Web Build playing tricks on me, but either way, it kept me on my toes!

And don't even get me started on those sneaky enemies. I swear I hit them multiple times, but they refused to give me any credit. What a bunch of sore losers! :D

All in all, you guys did an outstanding job on this game. Keep up the fantastic work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We were aiming exactly for that vibe, so I'm really glad you got it!

The mouse thing happens in web build, and I saw it happen in other unity games. Guess it's a unity web player thing :/

I had one tester report some hit detection issues. It did the best to fix them, but in the end they didn't occur at any machines I had access in my house.

All in all- really glad you liked our game! If you liked it, you may be interested in other stuff on my profile :)

your game is great it has good graphics the controls are good and the movement is great

Developer

Thanks man! Glad you liked it :)

Submitted(+1)

Loved it!

The movement is very smooth and dodging the bullets feel good and natural

Also the weapons visuals and animations are 10/10

Awesome work!

Developer

Hell yeah! Glad you liked it! All the praise for the animations in instantly passed to my graphics guy!

To put it simple: It's amazing!
The inspiration of old school shooters, the charming blend between hand draw and stylized visuals, the challenging difficulty, the music. It's really amazing, not gonna lie.
The only issues i found are, at least on the web version, the camera moved to the left without input, one of the levels has some performance issue (the park level), and it's easy to run out of ammo with some classes, but other than that, you did great!

Developer

Thanks man. My heart grows when I read reviews like yours!

The camera bug was never reported to me earlier (then again I didn't have that many testers prior to the jam). The performance issues... if I knew earlier I would have all the background trees as sprites :/

As for ammo- some weapons have less to make them not-overpowered. Dual uzis would be simply too good if you didn't have run for ammo sometimes!

Submitted

Absolutely love the art and music! But mostly, this game is comedy gold. One could say in a way the final boss was my mum uh?

Favorite entry of the jam so far, my only problem with it was a little lack of polish, probably because the scope of the game was pretty big for the time you had. I managed to soft-locked myself a few times by getting out of bounds.

I really think if you were to turn that idea into a game with more polished entironment, if would be a gem.

Great job and you earned a follower!

Developer

Aww yeah! Always cool to gain a follower!

And graphics and humor were definitely the stuff we aimed for, so the fact that you praise it means a lot!

As of lacking polish... yeah, I get it. If this was a month long jam, we'd just polish the stuff we have (like changing all the background trees in the park to sprites).

Submitted

Dude, I gotta say you watched a lot of good movies :D the music is so vibrating, I love it and the hand drawing graphics is kinda funny but of course it not fit the scene. I know the character don't use knife or some melee weapons but it will be good to have something to lean on when run out of bullet.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the fact that all the movies were from the nineties kind of gives away my age :)

We planned more weapons at the start (including mele, like crowbar from Half-Life), but they got cut due to time constraints, and level design.

Glad you liked it :)

Submitted(+1)

Art and humour is great ! I feel the game super difficult ! I like the possibility on switching weapons

Developer

Thanks!

As for the difficulty my advice is:

1. Keep moving. The game is designed, so that baddies aim not at you, but a point a bit behind you, that moves toward you. If you move in relation to them they'll miss.

2. Try to keep the baddies at a distance if possible.

3. You can try to move back to previously cleared rooms and wait for the bad guys there.

4. Remember about medpacks and ammo! They respawn, so don't worry about collecting them all.
