Really great game, short one but with good idea and good realization. I would say this is the best game i've played in the jam yet

I'm happy, that I  could finally beat the last boss ! ...

Ok, I think it's a great idea, but it needs some improvements, I would recommend you to improve.

1. You should improve the art (take more time or via the internet(and by the way I am not saying this to offend you, I'm myself bad at art)) or do more simpler art (simpler to animate and is also pretty with own stile !).

2. Develop further the presantion (with an optionsscreen, implement more particle-effects, etc.).

3. Better polish / balancing -> for example:  if all dices are lower than 4/3:

-> next_move (for attacking or/and healing) - 4/3/2 (random)

It has a huge potantial and as a pokemonfan (as a little child), I really like this game.

I would really like it and recommend it to you to develop it (a bit) further.

But nonetheless already a cool game !

Thank you for the feedback!

Good job! There's amount of strategy here and there, but I'm still unable to finish this game because I was salty with the dices haha

Here's some notes from me :

  • At first I thought I can stack up dices multiple times for an action (6 + 6)
  • Is low dices also make your dices low too?
  • Balancing. If this game is using pure random, then I think it can't be helped. I suggest using controlled random (I forgot what people call this most of the time haha)
Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

  • I didn't have time to add a tutorial / explanation, so the stacking isn't obvious. I chose that option because I had 4 dice slots, and at the final battle the player has 4 dice. So, I believed it would make for interesting scenarios where you'd strategically think which dice fits each slot the best, rather than put all in damage and destroy the enemy.
  • The dices do not affect each other. If you get a low dice (which ranges from 1-2), it doesn't affect your other regular dices.
  • The code actually does control some of the randomness behind the scenes, but I wasn't able to implement more in time, hence the balancing isn't great.

Thanks again, much appreciated!

This is an amazing concept! One thing to note is that the game is perhaps imbalanced. Either it is very easy to win, or literally impossible. If you can add more bosses, that would be nice!

The fact that I lost your game and then thought "oh no, I've got to complete this one" is testament to how fun this game and the concept is. The core gameplay loop is fun, the art is cool, and I really liked the concept.

My main criticism would be one of balance. On my first playthrough, despite beating the first monster without taking damage, it was impossible for me to beat the second monster because it was just doing more damage than I was rolling to defend. It was only on the second play, when I knew that my armour stacked, that I knew to just build that armour up to survive the next two enemies.

But still, that's balance that is hard to create in two days, and what you have here is just wonderful. Great work!

Thanks a lot of the feedback!

I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed playing it!

Amazing game! The art is great, however some of UI looks a bit wonky. The final boss was really fun! The music sounds really good and fits quite well. The core gameplay loop is really well designed! It could use a harder difficulty mode because on my first run I only picked extra dice and I still won. One of the best submissions I've played so far!

Very cool game! I especially love the art, and I think the turn based combat system was really unique and fun. It took a bit of clicking to fully understand what I was doing with the UI, but once it clicked with me I was hooked. Great job!

I liked this game, choosing where to use the dice after they roll was a great idea and made it more more strategy than being completely random. The idea of investing in a new die was cool twist.

Not a bad premise for a game, but it probable needs some balancing overall. if you are able to bank investment points and armor early you can push through the later fights a bit too easy. I also noticed that even though you can technically place 2 dice in a slot, it only counts the value of the last dice placed.

It would have been good to allow multiple dice in slots so you always have to optimize how many dice you have available for each slot and are forced to make interesting decisions about how many dice you put in each spot. This could create a loop where the player is encouraged to keep buying more dice but you could scale your enemies so that the player could never brute force their way through them.

Good work overall.

Thank you, those are great suggestions!

The game is great and challenging and I really had a lot of fun!

But sometimes I really wanted to alter my choice :D

Nice job!

This is a very unique system, with many action choices, and the idea of investing dice to become more powerful later is very interesting.

The art-style and character design are very cool, and the UI is simple but easy to understand.

More rounds would be nice, but I understand the limitations due to the short time limit.

This was very fun to play

I dig the character design ! It's edgy cute and reminds me of Undertale a bit.
The background, not so much XD

First, the mecanic is cool. I like the idea of investing. Buying a weak dice sounds pathetic but then you realize at least you have 3 of them now.
It would help to have a cancel button or to be able to move dices after placing them.
