An interesting twist on a roguelike especially using the dice rolling for equipping/using weapons.  Though a little difficult to try and setup attacks sometimes due to the short range as well as the enemies attack patterns.

Though that really depends upon the enemy in the game, I feel like for me what kept getting me is that fact that I couldn't strategize to use the enemies as a "bumper" basically.  Allowing me to queue up another die for a risk of some sort.  Instead I had to try and squeeze them close enough, but not too close to avoid walking over the enemies mid attack.

Which to be faire, was an interesting thing, though not exactly the most helpful with trying to stab them.  Since it made it so I basically always had to be a straight block away, rather than being able to stick close and attack.  Them combo that with the attack ranges of some of the enemies and it makes it a little bit more difficult to try and fit in that range.

Otherwise though it was an interesting setup to show a randomized queue as well as allow equipping weapons to different sides for sure.  It definitely helps with planning things out and allowing more strategy in the midst of randomness.  Though the fact that movement is so slow sort of limits that.  I wonder if there could be some perk to allowing extra moves based off the side you roll?  Possibly?  Though that would likely be a pretty big balancing change so it's hard to know.  Maybe sides that don't have an item, can move their full distance.  Whereas sides that do cannot.

Definitely a really cool setup overall though.  Would be interested to see some more abilities for sure or just more in general.  Really cool for 48 hours though for sure.

Dear m4nqo!

Your game is really great, it's fast if I want it to be and fun to play. Good length for game jam as well. I really enjoyed the core mechanic and liked the art style. It would be great to give the player some feedback with sounds and f.e. camera shake or red tint when you get hit.

Overall, great experience, I'm glad I randomized your submission! Keep on jaming!

Fun game and great idea. I felt great strategizing my position to attack the enemies, especially the boss. For expansion in the future, it would be interesting to see enemies be impervious to certain attacks. You could strategize your movement to line up an attack that does damage them.

Sound and music would have also been nice, but the visual style was very charming alone as well

nice concept, I loved the ability to choose a side to equip weapons on. the simple pixel art is nice and charming. music and sound effects would elevate this game  to the next level.

Nice game, I like the concept of having an item for each face.

I had some trouble triggering the sword at the good moment. Maybe it would have been simplier if the dice number increases by one at each movement (1->2->3->4->5->6->1...) instead of actually rolling it but I guess that's just my opinion.

I´ve never expected to play as a dice in a dungeon crawler... but here we are. Really nice work, i love the idea with the equipment system!

Very fun! The dice are a bit far away from the center of the screen which forces me to look at the edge a lot, but it makes me slow down and think which is probably a good thing :D

A very cool game! i think the idea of equipping weapons to the sides is amazing, and the gameplay is addicting! the only thing missing is some music, but still i really enjoyed it a lot!

Thank you very much!

It's a bit like "shotgun king" it looks nice, it's a cool concept, and demands you to think and plan in advance, but it is not so intuitive and the Rng of the dices orders pulls me back a lot, still, pretty cool for the time given, and something that can be corrected (i hope) easily, I will be looking up for this game if they keep development.

Thank you! I agree that the RNG ends up leaving players finicking until they get the right rolls. Unfortunately I likely won't be continuing development on this project, as I already have something else I'm working on.

Reminds me of Crypt of the Necrodancer.
I love this idea of playing as a die with associated face abilities. Really great implementation of theme.
Oftentimes in gameplay I have to just fiddle around until I get the right configuration of moves to come out. Presentation is clean and great concept.

(1 edit)

The visuals are nice and the idea is neat. However, it does feel like it's just luck. It's hard to strategize when you can only think 6 moves ahead at maximum and your enemy is 10 turns away. I wish there was some more predictability that would make assigning an item to a specific dice number an important decision instead of a completely random one.

The concept is neat though and it's still quite good given the time limits.

Good job!

Thank you for the feedback and kind words!
