Well done. Nice animations, chilling music and its really hard . Keep working in this game.

Developer

Yes, I will! Thank you very much for your comments! :)

Hey, nice submission! Great job on making it through your fitst game jam and ending up with something pretty cool!

One issue I had is that I didn't really know what I had to do or where I had to go for quite a bit. It's only after a while that I managed to notice the objective. What you would want is to design your level in such a way that player can almost always see their objective, or at least see it at their starting position. Another thing I'd look into is the level's lighting - some parts of the level were quite dark (at least on my screen), so I had a hard time finding my way around.

That being said, I still think you did great, especially for your first game jam! Good luck with further development of this game and great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for your feedback, it's really helpful! :)  Some people have also told me about the lighting, I wanted it to be kinda dark but not SO dark, but in my scarce knowledge on how to handle the lighting, that's the best I could do xD but yes, I plan on improving that in the future, as well as giving some more indication regarding the objective.

Again, thank you very much for your comments, it's super motivating to get constructive feedback! :)

Realy cool! But i have some trobble with red button. I realy hate this button... red button...

Developer

oh sorry to hear that! but you mean a problem because it didn't work or with the visuals of the button? Thanks for your feedback and for playing! :)

This was a fun game, I enjoy 3D platformers a lot and I enjoyed the parkour feelings a lot. Some jumps were hard but manageable. Great submission and my only sugguestion is that implementing something like Coyote Time would be nice as a lot of platformers have it. If you are unfamiliar, it is time after you fall that you can still jump. Since a lot of the falls were due to a small small mistiming.  Oh and a volume slider.

Fun game and I love how it looks!

Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm glad you liked the game, even with its flaws xD I didn't know about Coyote Time, sounds like a great idea, I'll try to implement it in the future as well as the volume slider :) thanks for playing!

Submitted

Thanks for the game. it's so annoyingly hard... and then when you are about to give up you make the next jump... just to fail again on the following one. Great submission.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! the difficulty was actually what gave the name to the game, my husband also told me that it was hard and that I should call it "Dark Jump" in reference to "Dark Souls" xD My idea was to not make it so easy since it was only one level, but I hope to keep working on it in the future, maybe add some checkpoints so that it's not so frustrating :)

Submitted(+1)

Oh yeah, checkpoints would be great. esp on the first real jump... I think I made the jump around the corner about 1 in 5 times.

Submitted(+1)

I hated it.
And then I loved it.
And then I hated it again.

Developer

hahaha I'm glad you liked it in the end xD Thanks for playing!

Cool concept. I would love to see some parkour action with the mesh detecting collision with walls and stuff. But good job all the same. The jump animation, very cool looking. I think the character could use some better braking friction to help with jumping from spot to spot. But over all really good job. I enjoyed myself. Nice chill background music too.

Developer

Thanks! yes, the braking friction is on the top on the list in terms of improvements :) Thank you very much for your feedback and for playing my game, I'm glad you had a good time!

Good job on the visual details and sound! I was terrible at the game, and couldn't get past the first pillar. Well done on putting yourself out there with your first game 😎

Developer

Thank you! and don't worry, thank you very much for taking the time to play it! I'm taking all feedback into account to continue to improve the game in the future, so all feedback is welcome! :)

Submitted

Good effort, I hope you carry on working on it after the jam.

It's my first jam and first game I've made too, I completely understand the lack of time to get everything done, I missed out on so many features I wanted to add haha.

Congrats on you submission

Developer

Thank you! yes, I'll indeed try to keep improving it after the jam with what I keep learning. Congratulations on your first game as well! I'll be sure  to check it out :)

Submitted

Congratulations on an Unreal build that runs well! Sorry to say I'm in the 'too hard for me' camp though. I see you know about the sliding, so maybe a checkpoint on each roof could help too :) Might not even be necessary if you can drop the inertia when the player is touching a surface and also has let go of movement controls - I don't know anything about how Unreal works though!

Developer(+1)

hahaha don't worry! Thank you very much for playing my game and for your feedback! the checkpoints on the roofs are a good idea too actually, I'll take it into account! :)

Submitted

Congratulations on your first game! With that said, it's really impressive you were able to do this in the 10 days we were limited to. I liked the environment and character controls a great start! I would recommend tuning the jumping mechanics to make them feel more grounded when you land - maybe I'm just bad at platformers lol, but it was hard for me to get to that second pole! After that though I got it down! Again, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback! It was indeed hard work doing it in 10 days, specially since I had to google most of the things I wanted to do given I had no prior experience developing games xD yes, most people have told me about the jumping issue, I noticed it too but I didn't know how to fix it :( But I'll try to do it in the future, along with some other features I wanted to add but didn't have time to :) Thanks for playing my game!

Submitted

Found it very difficult to get anywhere, other than the first roof. Nice aesthetics though and the level design does seem solid.

Developer

Hi, thank you for your feedback! Yes, I've been told the game might be a bit too difficult, my idea was to not make it so easy since it was going to be just one level for the jam, also the character has some drag when jumping that I wasn't able to get rid off which makes it even more difficult xD but I'm taking all the feedback into account to keep improving the game in the future :) Thanks for playing!

Hey nice work here.   I like environment setup, it does give me that post-apocalyptic feel.

I like the portal a lot at the end, really cool effects.     I don't want to ruin the surprise but i also liked the secret thing you can do (not sure if it is meant to be a hidden mechanic, but i liked it as is).

Just for the feedback purpose, i feel like the jump needs more of a "stick to ground" force.  it gives player more sense of control.     As a player, i didn't feel like I was in control of the jump because you slide a bit when you land.

great work tho! keep it up!

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback! yes, it's supposed to be kind of hidden ;) glad you liked it!

Regarding the sliding when jumping, yes indeed I felt the same thing but I didn't know how to fix it :( but I'll be sure to look it up and improve it in the future!

Thanks again for the feedback :)

I suck at platformers, didn't get further than the first roof. This didn't effect my rating though.

I like the looks and feel of the game, and the music and SFX are nice.

I didn't get the store and theme. From another comment I understand that you explain this on the game's page, but for the voting part of the jam I didn't see that page before playing.

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback! No problem about the theme, I know it's not obvious at first :)

Submitted(+1)

Your first game ever made ? Great work.
I’ll love to see more from you.

Developer

Thank you very much! :)

Submitted(+1)

Very nice!  I love platformers.  Not really sure what this has to do with the jam theme but it's cool nonetheless.

Developer

Ah the explanation is on the game's page :) it's supposed to be a post-apocalyptic setting where almost all humans are dead and the character needs to escape through the portal to another dimension for a new beginning, I know it's not so obvious at first by just looking at the environment but it's the best I could do by myself hahaha thank you very much for your comment :)

Submitted

Ah, ok.  I like the concept!  Great work for a solo project.
