This was a great concept, and I loved having a ghost "partner" to play along with on a loop! I think plenty of others have mentioned this, but I would have more feedback as to lasers damaging rocks/enemies and I would personally recommend having things die in less hits, maybe about half? It was great overall, and as others have said I think some music would ramp things up nicely

Really cool game! I liked how the 2nd run can be easier than the 3rd one because of the behavior of the 1st one, this creates an unpredictability every time you play the game, that makes you improvise with what you have and think in your next one. The one thing I don't liked very much was that the asteroids becomes toooo small and still kills you, as it is an one hit kill game it seems a bit unfair, I know it can be part of the player strategy avoid destroy them in the middle of the loops, and maybe and just can't avoid destroy some asteroids when I see them hahahaha

Oh! And I really liked the art style too, space was a real great choice because of the jam limitation, and it fits very well :)

Glad to hear you enjoyed the game!
I can't blame you for going after the asteroids, it's nice cleaning the screen of obstacles.
Also, those asteroids were made on purpose to punish players that were holding down the shoot button the whole time (so that when they become the smallest ones they're harder to avoid).
;)

What I liked:

  • You implemented the theme really well. Even though, I seen a couple other games that use shadow player mechanics, I still think each one is pretty cool.
  • Artwork looked pretty good. Did you make them yourself?

Feedback/Suggestions:

  • I feel like there needs to be some more feedback to the player when they successfully hit something. Just a small noise confirming that it hit would be enough. Until I managed to destroy an asteroid, I had no clue if I was doing damage to it.
  • Including music would also be beneficial to your game. Maybe something quick-paced to hype up the player's feeling of danger.

Overall, you have a cool game and congrats on submitting!

Thank you for playing the game!

As for the art, yes I did most of the art of of the objects and enemies.  A friend of mine who's in the special thanks, provided me with the ship, the starry background and the planets!

Regarding the feedback, Yep I do agree I should've implemented a stronger indication for progress when damaging things. Though I wasn't sure if sound effects is the best choice in that regard, especially when everything that appears on screen is destructible.
As for the music, I agree with some quick-paced music

Thank you again for your feedback!

Just beated the game! my strategy was avoid destroying asteroids as the small asteroid pieces can kill your past easily. It also would be nice adding multiple pasts and going crazy with the time paradoxes, really fun

The concept is amazing and very cool visuals. 9/10 for me, the only missing point is that the pace is quite slow.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the critique! I'll try to do something with the pace of the game in the future as many others have also pointed out

Nice, it remind me of same arcade games when i was a kid. nice visuals too!

Love it, as another comment said I really wish there was music. Maybe that would make the early stages not feel as slow if I have something to jam to.

How fun!!

At first I thought the game was slow, because the projectiles were being fired slowly. But as the game progressed, the upgrades made it funner! Also the death clone was really cool to have, but I didn't really have to use it since I only died 2 times and it was in the beginning stages!

I got up to 4 missiles upgrades and 3 speed upgrades yay.

The boss was really easy as long you have all the upgrades.

I love the simple SFX

Just wish there was music tho!

Btw, if you ever need music, even for this project, I am available to compose for your projects!

This game was fun!

Thanks for making this game!

Thank you for enjoying the game!
As you pointed out, the use of the mechanic gets under utilized if the player is good. (I'll have to figure a way to make the player to utilize it more, probably when I'll work more on this in the future).

And in regards to music, I'll keep that in mind!
