Awesome game, very juice. Player controller and camera follow is so smooth. Congrats!
thanks!
Realy good game! 100% Worth playing!
Thanks AlvinoP!
This was so much fun. The controls feel great, snappy, and responsive. You utilized the theme very well.
ohh thats great to hear! thanks Acimus!
Hi,
great game! It has very smooth movement and a pretty nice soundtrack, did you make that one yourself? The death animation could be a bit cooler (like a big explosion :)) and the texture wraps around in a weird way, which disturbs the vibe a bit. One thing I do like about the game is the fact that the levels are presented in a way so that you can learn new types of obstacles pretty quickly.
Keep up the good work!
-Remi
yes, i made the soundtrack :P. Thanks for the feedback! going to add some juice to that death animation
I'm a massive F-Zero fan so I really enjoyed this game. Got 4 deaths. Not sure if you already have it enabled, but the player car needs continuous collision detection enabled on the Rigidbody, at the highest speeds I didn't need to jump the obstacles sometimes. Otherwise you would need to do raycasting yourself to check for collisions.
Great music and great game!
didn't have continuous collision activated! going to update it as soon as the jam ends :P
Great work with this one! It felt so fun and satisfying to beat some of the trickier laps when they were at their fastest. Love the torus track too! I am really intrigued how you set it up.
I think adding more juice to car when it jumps and turns would definitely make it even better indeed. I am dreaming of other cool extensions of this game where you can use your own tracks and the hazards would match the music.
I think this one could definitely be extended beyond the jam. Fantastic work!!
Thanks Circumpunk! adding your own track sounds awesome, have to figure out sime stuff in unity :P
Wow Ultratoro have a great potential!!
My suggestion to make this game even greatter:
* I'll suggest to change the music to a more "mario kart" or upbeat song, something with a clear "motiv", so the game can be remembered from its music.
* Add some effects, for example some gas particles behind the car.
* Little bounce when reaching the floor.
* Jump effect
* Synchronize the car velocity with the BG music speed.
The character controller is great, and the game is really fun to play.
Do you drive in an actual torus, or is a straight cylinder with a curved shader?
Thanks for all the feedback AwsApps!
Yes, it's an actual torus without any fancy shader code, just used a little bit of trigonometry to turn the car (sin and cos to calculate the car position and rotation).
Synchronizing the background music to the car speed would be really cool.
Also, one of the plans with the next update is make the jump more "juicy", definitely needs a jump effect and a bounce effect.
very nice game :k. btw i like cubes with legs.
thanks haha, that guy was going to be the main character before i came up with the car
Really cool game! Very addictive and fun to play. I wish there was a Mario Kart level like this!
thanks MidnightBaker! yeah, making a racing game out of this could be so cool
Wow! That was very fun and very well amde! Using a loop around a torus was such a creative ideia. Congrats! One the best games I played on the jam!
woo thanks a lot rthurmed!
This was so much fun. I love repeating just 3 times per level because it builds suspense for the final super fast run. Really cool mechanic for looping and accomplishing an ebb and flow of difficulty. One of the best I have played in the jam.
thanks Rob!!
controls nicely, good music, its obvious how you've used the theme, and simple to understand, that said, eventho i knew that up was jump the first time i saw the jump-obstacle i smashed right into it.
slow downs where less expected than speedups. Love the "Lap" markers around the torus.
nicely done!
thanks darngeek!
This game is a whole ass vibe. One of the best entries imo
thanks Spagoodlers!
Audiosurf vibes. Really fun, and the levels get super interesting (and challenging) if you survive past the third or fourth lap! Great concept with a great name too.
Thanks !!
Pretty cool, I like the aesthetic and it brings me back to the days when I played cubefield on loop!!
thanks! those web games are a blast
That was very cool man, the movement felt fluid and good, it has that replayability factor, interesting enough I am working on something similar already and you gave me hope that it might turn out well, Overall great job :D
thanks ! feel free to ask anything about how anything goes behind the scenes, there are thing that look cool and over complicated but behind the veil it's just a very simple script :P
Thanks, I am actually new in 3D I am doing it like there is a shape and I simulated faux gravity on it, is it the correct way or is there is a different and better way of doing it
Yes! for example, in Ultratoro, the car doesn't move forward, is the torus shape that rotates, you only avoid stuff that comes to you by going left or right. Also went the faux gravity way, there is no physics simulation.
I think the trick(mostly) is moving the shape itself rather than the player object.
The secret character kind of looks like me.
but not as cool (͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖)
Fun and fast paced
Thanks SuperPupPresent !
The fact that ULTRATORO manages to be fast paced without ever being disorienting is quite a feat. This game is tons of fun and has the potential to be a really solid racer with more levels. I'll definitely be following this game's progress. Awesome job!
Thanks Rilantes! i'll be definitely updating this project!
The controls are very smooth and the graphics are top notch. It reminds me very much of an old mobile game called SpeedX 3D. I also realized that all else being equal, it's always better to stay on the inside of the torus instead of the outside!
thanks! i think i would add more obstacles on the inside of the torus to throw the player out of the confort zone :P
