How does you game fit the theme?
The core mechanic is to interact with objects that will transform into something else. In that sense, nothing is real because nothing is what it appears to be.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
We created all the assets ourselves from scratch.

Cool game,

I really like the art and the narrative.

The enemies spawning in SFX is a bit repetitive I'd say and they often get stuck on objects, I also noticed that their speed was changing sometimes, not sure if that was intended or not.

The idea is very nice, the riddles are cool.

I think with some polish and lighting this would make for a nice puzzle game.

Would be nice, if there was a way to deal with the enemies other than switching scenes maybe.

Nice entry, Good job!

Hey man, nice little game! I really like the concept of the mimic. I feel like this game could tell a very strong story.

Two things to improve: You cant get rid of the mimics once you spawn them(except for changing scenes). So you might add a mechanic to lock them out or something.

Second: I thinkg this game could benefit from well placed lighting. The flat look took away some of the creepyness you tried to convey.

A cool submission nevertheless!

Feel free to play/rate our game here -> https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-7/rate/1420718

After the voting ends, we publish the 1.1 Version with bugfixes and improvements :) Thanks!

Thank you for you feedback :)

We wanted to add a mechanic to interact with the torches and candes to make some dynamic and creepy lighting, but we ran out of time.

We wil check out your game 👍

I like the core concept. Each riddle is well written: tricky to understand while still being clear if you think about it. The way they ramp up in difficulty from the first to last is also well done. I like that interacting with an incorrect object spawns an enemy rather than instantly kills you. Sprite art is well done, too. The biggest (and only major) issue I had was that the player character moves a bit slow.

Fun game to play. Unfortunately I was stuck at the throne room thing, I tried to interact with each object without success. Aside from that fun to play!

Nice game with nice art & music, specially knowing all assets were created from scratch

Nice little game, impressive that you did everything from scratch! Could definitely have used some more time polishing, just little things  like the black lines between tiles, overlapping tiles or making some smoother transitions between scenes. but a cool experience!

cool game rated it can you rate my game please

Developer

Thanks for playing and your review, we'll rate you game too!

Great game, the art was great and the gameplay was incredible, I really liked the mixture of prop hunt and puzzle, very clever! My favorite thing about the game is how the audio transitions from the standard music to the battle music, it was very smooth. Riddles were the perfect amount of difficulty and the game was overall very well designed and polished!

Developer

Thabk you for that great review! I love the music composition/transition as well :)

Awesome game. At first I went around clicking everything in sight to soon realize that was a mistake. I thought the riddles were challenging, but not too difficult to figure out after a couple reads. :D

Thanks :)

I really liked how you used riddles as hints on where to find everything! I also liked how the combat music transitioned smoothly from the regular in-game music! The pixel art looks amazing, but I noticed that the text box looked a little out of place compared to the rest of the art! That's probably just a placeholder used for the jam though! It would be nice if we had some way to defend ourselves from the monsters that spawned as well! Very neat and simple story though! Great work!

Thank you for your feedback :)

Yes, the textboxes were placeholders, but we has some bugs to fix so we left them in and prioritized the bug fixes.

This is a solid application of the game jam theme. Very cool to see that you implemented from scratch the a* algorithm for shortest path. I use something similar in my game, but to the pathfinding AI of some bouncy enemies that can only jump and not walk in my game. Congrats on your submission.

Thanks! :)

Great themeing of the game! Super smooth animations and fun setting! Felt like I wanted more audiodesign, and maybe easier navigation of the dungeon, but not a big deal!

Overall great game!
