The main menu's artwork, and the music that plays while it boots up is very nice! And so is the execution of the story, with what you were going for.

A short and great read!

This cute little sci-fi game gave me a glimpse into a future I'm quite looking forward to. :)

I must say I was rather surprised with the direction that Project: Halloween took and that was rather shocking. Though I suppose at this point, that was your whole intention for the story. 😅

Rebecca’s stellar voice acting adds a lot of whimsy to the concept of this kinetic novel. I’m also very impressed with the recording of the song and the details to the effects. A shame it wasn’t added to the game, but thank you for sharing it with your audience. A job well done!

Are you looking for a disturbing, whimsical, and unique game? Then look no more!

Project: Halloween is a well-crafted visual novel that follows the story of a mysterious AI and her grand mission to spread the eerie word about Halloween throughout the world. Featuring an original theme song and a unique character design, the game is sure to leave a lasting impression and a few memorable moments in the player's mind. I highly recommend it!

This was such a fun play through! The art, the voice acting, the story... absolutely brilliant! Really loved the "Roko's Baskalisk" reference! Great job!! :)

Haha, that certainly took a turn :D Great set up and delivery. VA made it feel professional and the art was really nice. Good stuff!

Spoilers below.

You perfectly captured the single-mindedness expected from an AI tasked with a single duty. This was a hilarious little story.

A while ago, our editor told me about Roko's basilik, actually. I found this thought experiment pretty fascinating and am glad to see it in this VN!

The backgrounds are really cool and your character design is both cute and symbolically fitting, considering the way Leena comes off at first vs. what you later find out about her. Love the victim blaming towards her father and the resistance lol.

Also, the voice acting! This was such an amazing display with a huge range of emotions. Beautiful.

And underneath it all an epic soundtrack to round out the experience.

Overall, this was just a cool little game.

(Tim) Thank you for this comment! I'm glad you appreciate the finer details. Our team wanted to make all the different parts fit together as well as possible, and feedback like this gives me confidence that we're on the right track.

Aw man. Have I been bringing about the apocalypse the whole time? I've been watching horror movies all month!

This is great. Perfect for the season.

(Tim) Thanks for reading! I also enjoyed your entry.

I don't need any convincing to enjoy Halloween because it's already my favourite time of the year x3 Halloween is my Christmas, haha. So I was sold by just reading the tagline for this xD That and the fact that I enjoyed playing through Splinted Wings for Otome Jam :3

This was just as beautiful but in a completely different way story-wise! I don't think this would really count as a spoiler too much, but I'll put a warning just in case, sooo:

SPOILER below:

I was not expecting a reference to Roko's basilisk! That made me smile :3 It's probably one of my favourite thought experiments that I've ever heard about. It's just a really fascinating concept. And a pretty terrifying one I guess, haha. But man, I do wish everyone enjoyed Halloween as much as I do xD then I wouldn't get so many funny looks in early October when I'm already dressing as a possessed doll!

Hello, I've tried playing Project Halloween, unfortunately after clicking play on the main menu, not only the game, but my PC became incredibly laggy/framey. Shouldn't be an issue that would occur with a hex core i7 processor, a GTX 1050 graphics card & 24GB ram  for a visual novel (on Windows 10 and downloaded the Windows version of the game), any help with this would be thoroughly appreciated as I really want to play this game to its fullest. :)

Developer

(Tim) Hi FlareBlitzed, did you encounter this issue with the newest version of the game? There was indeed a lag issue with the initial release, as we did not properly downsize our assets for distribution.

(+1)

Hello Studio Madeline Chai, this issue occurs on the currently newest version (1.0.2) where both my computer and the game lag severely after the main menu when the girl introduces herself. Uncertain if Renpy can handle the assets placed, some people's computers in VN chat rooms have not had this issue, where others (and myself) have this lag issue. Thank you for your quick reply btw! :D

Developer(+1)

(Tim) I'll look into this and get more opinions. My computer has had no issues, so I will seek feedback from colleagues on other machines.

Cool to hear, thank you for investigating into this as frame rate & how much a game is consuming ones CPU & RAM is a problem when the game consumes too much. :)

Developer

(Tim) So far, I've not been able to replicate this issue or get anyone else on the team to. We're all Windows and Mac users, with either 8GB or 16GB ram.

Could you refer me to the community you're in where multiple people have reported this problem? I fear that this might be out of my technical expertise, but I still want to see if I can fix this outside just removing the noise/artifacts effect.
