Great game! And really impressive visually, especially for a game jam game!

My only gripe with the game is that the pacing is a little slow for my taste. Some more variations in gameplay and some more difficult sections would be a nice addition.

Overall, awesome job!

Loved the overall look and feel. With simple controls it was easy to get into and fun

Nice game! but it really showed me how bad my typing skills are.

I really liked the graphics and animations and i got anime vibes  so nice!

Super fun game! I love how the main character looks a lil bit like someone from dragon ball. Maybe it's just the eyes though. Thanks for sharing this game :D it looks and plays really nicely. If you could try out our game and rate it I'd really appreciate it too!
Edit: i played the game again, and just like you mentioned on the post, the final wave isn't working too well, i get stuck in an infinite loop of trying to get the dragon to do something but all that happens is i destroy crystals and then rinse and repeat. Hopefully this was solved in v1.1 :D

All this game is telling me is that I need to work on my typing lol.  Great concept and super polished execution!  I was admittedly confused at first, but that's because I was playing the bugged version, but playing the updated version solved that.  Great job getting this done in a week!

Really interesting game. We're very close to get a typing game Roguelite XD !

So far I loved it, too bad this game is not very optimised for Azerty keyboard, making the game harder.

Also I'm not sure if it is normal or not but sometime there were two gems of the same color showing up, so there was a missing color on the relic.

Developer

Yeah that's one of the bugs that slipped through! Thanks for playing our typing game rougelite. :)

Really cool game, it's very unique and I love the art! It is pretty hard at first but I picked it up after a few tries. I think adding some feedback to show when keys are going to change (ex: shaking the key beforehand, particles when the switch happens) would help a lot as I tended to miss the change when I was looking at the enemies. Overall, really great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks thanks! We owe all of the game's look and feel to our art director / illustrator extraordinaire and amazing teammate @Jorge-Flores. If we could change or add a new thing to the game, it would be a clearer way to communicate the relic's changes.

Thanks for playing!

Really enjoyed the game. Specially the graphics. It was hard.  But a well polished game in the jam. Best of luck.. :D

Unique game idea. The art was awesome. The key change mechanics should be more forgiving during the combat period. A small indication before the key change will be nice. Otherwise I really liked the game. Goodjob!

Well done, cool game idea.

I really liked the 'combat' sections, but would have appreciated less punishment for errors. In the later stages, I had a few instances where a key changed right before I pressed it, causing some frustrations because it felt unfair.

The animations and classic style audio were all spot on and gave the game a cool retro feel. I really appreciated it.

Side note - linking to a fixed version of the game during a jam is against the jam rules and may disqualify you from ratings. You're welcome to update after the jam is done, but sharing it during might sway raters and is frowned upon.

Regardless of bugs, you still made a cool game in a week. Be proud of that and update it after the review period.

Developer(+1)

We're very glad you enjoyed our game! Yes we are aware the game can be very unfair at times, listening to all the feedback I think some type of cue indicating the key change could be very helpful.

Regarding the 'fixed' version of the game we thought it would be a nice addition for anyone who enjoyed the original version, as it pretty much only fixed a particularly hidden bug that made the last encounter unbeatable. We're still new to game jams and we'd seen other submissions do similar things, and didn't think doing something like this would be against the rules, otherwise we would not have done it. We thought (and encourage) that teams will rate our game based solely on the original upload. We're sorry if it wasn't the right thing to do, but again, we didn't know it was something that was frowned upon.

Love the idea and graphics and nostalgia!

"Typing of the Dead meets Grimrock" - Loved the art direction and aesthetic of this game,  it felt super nostalgic to me as the previously mentioned games are favourites of mine. Great job on getting something so polished in for a jam entry! Keep up the great work. :D

Developer(+1)

This is the exact type of feel we were going for, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Awesome game!

The art is so good, the concept is innovative, and it was quite fun!

Just in the beginning I couldn't notice that the letters have changed!

Great Job!

Submitted(+2)

Loved the characters and the graphics!

Its a bit hard and the letter change isn't quite noticeable, i think u need to make that stand out a bit more other than that awesome game!

Developer(+1)

Yeah definitely. That's a big piece of feedback we've received! I feel like sound design is kind of an afterthought especially in game jams, however it would've really benefited our gameplay and communication with the player!

Thanks for playing!

graphics are pretty solid and I don’t really say that for 2d! it’s also the gameplay pretty interesting idea

Submitted(+1)

Some of the best art I've seen in the game jam. Really cool idea and implementation!

Submitted(+2)

Very good game. The graphics are beautiful. The bugs I encoutered were fixed in the 1.1 version so I was able to beat it. But using keys like ; ' , . - is straight up evil :p

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback, we appreciate it the addition of special characters was part of making it chaotic but as others pointed out it ramps up the difficulty really easy :)

Developer

I'm very glad you enjoyed it! :) We are aware that the game can be unfair at times D: (especially since we didn't have much time to playtest it and balance it), but knowing you went as far as to do your best and beat it warms our crocodile heart. Thank you very much.

The game is good, the gameplay is there and it's playable.

The letters mechanic was very innovative, still needs some polish, because it can get frustrating real quick.

The game is very hard, even when you get the concept.

The moments when the letters change are not signalled enough, i sometimes push a button only to see the letter's changed.

But the graphics were beautiful, so it would be a very playable typing tutor game.

And it's actually quite devoid of bugs, which is very appreciated, especially for a gamejam game!

Good work!

It's a great game, I love how you put this layer of extra context to the experience. Most would have ended it at the match color concept, but you went way further. Great stuff. I would love to hear what you think of my entry?

Developer

At first we thought to leave it at colors, but a small idea to mix it up a bit turned out to be the whole mechanic in the final project. I'm really glad you enjoyed it! And don't worry, I've had my eyes on your game for a while now ;)
