Did you work in a team?
I did everything except for the music, which was handled by my friend/internet brother, Faye. We both had a blast working on this. (I know NOTHING about music so he was a lifesaver lol)

Was the resolution a challenge?
The thing I struggled with most tbh was level design. Making a side-scrolling 2D platformer is REALLY tough with just 64x64 pixels.

What did you learn?
I learned a lot about game design and got some further knowledge on the engine I'm using (Construct 3). In the end I'm really happy with the product and look forward to making more games ^^

Very good level design and platform movement! I think you nailed the parameters (gravity, acceleration / deceleration, speed, jump height, etc), which I believe helped you to play around with the gameplay mechanics in a more creative way, making a simple experience very satisfying — for instance, having the player fall then double-jump to pick up coins in some particular spots, which is not something we see too often in this kind of game.

The pixel art is great as well, very charming, it definitely matches the mood and the action.

The only nitpick I have is with the controls / input — I think for any platformer it's better to have the jump button somewhere else in the keyboard layout, not just in the "W" key. I understand this is mainly personal preference, but it can't hurt to give the player options (and since you use Construct 3, it's super easy to implement).

Great job, especially for a first game!

Yeah, I see what you mean! I had to let my mom know when playtesting that "hey, you can only jump with the W key" since she's used to the spacebar. I'm glad you still enjoyed it! thank you so much for your playing and I appreciate your feedback ^^

The visuals are charming and the gameplay was relatively straightforward. However, the level with spikes was frustrating due to getting killed by one hit and their general placement. Some of the levels were kind of trial and error due to the camera placement not showing the spikes below or the coins being placed to the side of the cloud, implying there was ground under it but instead you fall to your death but once you got past these parts it was understandable.

I think a general adjustment in the level design would make the game that much better.

fair! both camera and level design were frustrating to do considering the small resolution >> but I completely get what ur saying. would've been a good idea to add an indicator that you'd fall to your death, actually. I'll keep this in mind for future games. thank you for your criticism and I hope you still enjoyed the game to some extent!

Game play was super good.  It felt nice jumping around collecting the coins.  Music was also great and fit the atmosphere.

My only issue is(& someone else commented on it too) I wish there was some sort of animation or something when you collect the pizza.  It probably wouldn't have made the game exceptionally better but it's lack of being there was super noticeable since everything else seemed really polished.

Solid little platformer with a nice happy vibe. My only criticism is the abrupt change to the next level after collecting a pizza... some transition would have been nice. Other than that - great work!

Developer(+1)

yeah, I'm also not a fan of the abrupt change,,, I would've LOVED to add a transition, but I realized I wouldn't be able to figure it out in time so it had to be scrapped.

That's really solid double jump mechanic! It was fun to make those dangerous jumps. Good work.

Ooh how cute! and finally a game that is all happy feelings.  just a slime who wants to buy some pizza.. wait.. is that a spike? ooh its just down there. OOH NO! THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!

On a  more serious note, excellent job with the parallax, and feeling like good smooth movement. Good level design moments, where I have to kinda make a leap of faith, and get relieved that I am safe.

thank you! :D this definitely makes me happy to hear ^^ level design is a pain in the butt so I'm glad that I was able to make it somewhat enjoyable. This is the first game I've ever made so I'm REALLY happy you enjoyed it.
