Released on April 12, 2022

The Birby puzzle platformer has officially been released on itch.io and indiedb.  My previous link to the game was broken and the devlog was archived so I am posting here again.

What is it?

"Birby is a 2D puzzle platformer in which Gary has to maneuver his way to the check mark without loosing all his splash points. The stripy platforms take away his splash points among other hazards which can kill Gary without the need to rob him of his splash points." Your job is to occupy all the stripy white platforms to continue on to the next level.

As of writing this, the game is sitting on 13 of 60589 popularity on indiedb!

Did you write a development blog story?

Yes, and I am proud of it. You can check it out here: https://shia5347.github.io/personalWebsite/Birby.html.

Conclusion

Well I hope you enjoy my game! I have worked really hard on it for around 6 months.

Open the terminal and type ./franken while in the game directory. What output does it give?

What is happening?

yeah, through wine the game runs at an unplayable frame rate for me.  I tried different flags like -vulkan and -opengl but they don't work.

Are you able to port the game to linux? Wine is running the game at an unplayable frame rate. Want to play it badly.

Hello guys I have recently finished my puzzle platformer and want to know what you honestly think. Is it fun? Boring? Did it make you think? Please let me know. Voting the game would also be appreciated. Thanks.

I have developed a puzzle platformer and want to know your opinion on it. Be honest, did you have fun? Did the game make you think? What is your criticism on it if you have any? Tell me your thoughts. Thanks.

Birby puzzle platformer

A challenging puzzle platformer with unique mechanics. 14 levels are included and has 3 mechanics in total.  Your job is to occupy every stripy platform  to proceed through the game. Make sure to not run out of splash points though.  You can play it here.

I have finished the game. You can play it here: https://beamstudio.itch.io/birby. Make sure to report any bugs if you find any.

Have developed the world and level select screens now. Levels can now be locked and unlocked.

I am pretty close to being finished just may need to create one more level among other things.

Hello guys I am back and just want to say that level 12 has been finished. I have also added new sound effects for the timer platform and a new background music inspired by the game called yume 2kki. So far the aesthetics of the night levels are something I am proud of. I like the almost retro-rainbow night styled themes.

New sound and BG music relative to the level

I used a alarm clock and a baby toy thing laying around to get the effect I wanted.

Early view of the new mechanic that has been added.

Making some sweet progress

The second row of levels (the last 5) will be taking place in space or something

Hello my name is Shahroz and I have been working on a puzzle platformer where every time you touch a stripy platform, you loose health in a way (your splash/blood points). There are other mechanics beyond this that are implemented that helps the player stay engaged.  I have finished 10 levels so far and will be finishing this project up after I have done 15 levels.  This game will be free to play and I am looking forward to contacting websites like armorgames to see if they are interested in the game I made. Let me know what you think. You can follow my twitter here: https://twitter.com/Simple_gamesdev

Hey, I can try making one

Finished the game

Very fun game! I liked how you had to time your attacks with your sword paired with the dashing which gave a deep combat.

*GAME NOT LAUNCHING BUG FIX*

Man I screwed up. Install the .pck file here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fx16a7zugjf5r7i/LifelessBits.pck?dl=0

and put it in the same directory as the game executable

*UPDATE*

Ok I just changed it to .zip now and it should work

A game made for a high school English project based on the novel 1984 by George Orwell. In this game you play as Winston and interact with the environment around you. There is a little bit of dialogue included in this game.

My name is Shahroz and I am at my final year of high-school. I want to make games in c++ in the future but still have things to learn. I have made games in Java, Godot, Unity3D and Clickteam in the past and also have little experience with c++ and Kotlin. I hope to start building up my reputation as a game developer and possibly start a career in it.
