I got to level twelve! This game was awesome, the natural progression of the levels went from needing a bit more careful thought to full on chaos and I loved it. The visuals were great, all the different bright colors were vibrant and engaging and I found myself talking to my screen in a rush once the timer kicked it. I definitely would return to this game and play more of it, just to beat my high score. Great job!

Ooh this one would be pretty great for a mobile game. Very zen, easy premise, and with some difficult challenges. Liked it a lot.

The music was also very fitting. I usually would to try give some feedback on what to improve, but this game was simple and solid. Great job!

This was pretty cool and would definitely be a cool mobile game! It can be a bit annoying because most fails seem like their not the players fault but other than that, I enjoyed it

Great take on the theme, loved how the dots started to move after the tutorial it caught me by surprise, its a  great time killer.Well done!

This would be an absolute banger of a mobile game. Slick and tricky and the challenge ramps nicely. It was a little finnicky using a mouse to get it to stick, but I feel a touchscreen would make it shine.

Developer

Thank you! I'll try browser first (i regret not having that for the Jam) But I agree, I think it would be a great fit for mobile! Hopefully I can make it happen. :)

Love the look of the game, simple but sleek. Using the entire screen as a timer is a really neat idea. Gameplay is also good fun, starts out simple, didn't expect it to get that hectic at the end. Although I'm not sure if a live system is really needed, fighting against time was already a big enough challenge. Anyway, was absolutely enjoyable to play!

Thanks for the kind words and feedback. Interestingly, lives were added before time(but both were always planned). Lives were added to help guarantee an eventual death. Since I didn't want the game to ever game impossibly hard, time scales with dots number. Thus if some prodigy managed to systematically hit X dots per  Y sec, they would never die. One thing that does happen more with dot numbers is messing up. I guess you could avoid that by only doing trios, but that would start to weight on your time. Plus its a way to carry over "state" across levels. Afterall, if you clear one level with 2 second to spare, it has no impact on next level. But with 2 health left, you still have to be careful. You also recover 1 health every round, because I don't like being too punishing.

That‘s actually a good point, probably because I am not (yet) enough skilled in the game, I always eventually failed because of running out of time, so lives seemed a bit pointless. But your probably right, in the long run the lives system could definitely have it‘s benefits to balance and increase the game difficulty the further you get.

A simple but entertaining game! A zen kind of connect the dot feeling with a nice risk reward mechanic makes it surprisingly addicting. Very good job!

My Highscore: 5099

Developer

Thank you! I just want to note that is is a highly impressive score you have. Amazing stuff! (I don't think I could achieve that even at my best) Congrats!

Fun game! I think the hitboxes on the circles should be bigger, but overall a really nice entry :)!
Highscore: 3804 (lvl. 25)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Hitbox on circles was a bit of a dilemma. bigger hitboxes would make the game easier but also risk "clicking" a wrong a wrong dot. right now its pixel perfect, a bit small sometime even hard to hit, but one can say I cheated them(wrong hit).

With that being said, your score is mighty impressive! beats mine by far and only 1 level above meaning you performed quite well! Congrats ! will be added to description and be the score to beat!

Submitted(+1)

You could do bigger hitboxes, and in the case where multiple overlap where the player clicked you assume they wanted the one closest to the mouse.

Developer

I love this! suddenly making me feel/realize I over-thought  things!
Great Idea and I'll be sure to add it. (once the Jam is over)

One slight detail though, is it that the dots themselves are too small, or that you need to be too close to the dot to register?
One unfortunate thing that happened with the game is screen resolution affects the game resolution. Higher resolution screen may get smaller dots and that might feel harder too (it has its own pros too).

I personally didn't have a huge issue with the hitboxes, more just spitballing ideas. Though in general I agree that hitboxes for good things should be larger than the model (easier to collide with, select, pick up, etc), and hitboxes for bad things should be smaller (more forgiving when the player just barely grazes a hazard, etc)

This game is super fun! I like the built-in tutorial since it's a good way to introduce the player to the game and ramp up the difficulty. It's really cool how much depth the game has; being able to overlap only on the last link lets the player take more risks which is really cool! One thing that might be good to add after the game jam is someway to have some downtime between levels, maybe you can make it that the user needs to click the screen for it to start (and hides the circles until then). Or maybe you can throw in some stationary levels every now and then. Only reason why I think that might be good is that it might be a little more ergonomic--my hand starts to hurt after a while haha. Overall, this game is amazing, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words!
Its nice that you noticed the exception on the last line. Very much intended for risk. There was also a bit of fun factor, with dot moving around often by the time you are ready to close the loop, there's no "safe" line back to the first dot.  needing such skill, while perhaps more skill based would less fun/too challenging (or so I felt).

Funny thing about the pause Idea is that's what I initially intended. (or at least transition between levels) but when I first made levels changes it wasn't that bad. With color transition & appearance animation, it felt fairly "separate" though I did wish fora bit more delay between levels, at that point it wasn't much of a priority.

Some stationary levels do comeback although pretty far in ~17-20(?) I'm not going to pretend it was my genius plan,  at that point levels are random and static levels can and do happen. They are fun and do give some reprieve. Whats cool about those is there's no stress of dot crossing lines. but with so many dots, you can take an order that breaks (line or dot cross) or just get a fulfilling full combo!

Cool game! I like how simple it started vs how complicated it started getting when they were moving around and the timer was going. Unique take on the theme. Good job!

Woah... that was so good!! Amazing stuff - the presentation, the gameplay, and the concept - all top marks! What a wonderful gem of a game. Hope you get more ratings soon, you deserve em!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Appreciate it.
Hoping for more ratings too, not sure how though.
I think it came out pretty good! But there's a lot of impressive game in this jam (like yours)!

Pretty nice game! The simple graphics really fits and makes it really enjoyable to play even when there are many dots to see. The tutorial is also well done!

my best score was 685 :)

Cool unique idea that fits the theme! The colors were a bit hard on my eyes so I appreciate you included a no color mode. I found that you can right click to spawn dots as well, I'm not sure if that was a leftover debug feature or intended! Great job overall though.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you liked it. Also nice to see the no color paying getting attention. As for the right click... it is not mentioned anywhere. Let's call it a "feature" I hope not too many discover.(off to a bad start) At least its not game breaking. Cheers!

Super cool addictive game. The look is very simple but that works well, good job !
