I love the art, it's super endearing! Unfortunately I struggled with the actual gameplay, and couldn't make it past wave 4, nor figure out how to "join together" the towers, although I tried a lot of times. A more in-depth tutorial could've been helpful. The concept is really good, though, and it seems like you put some serious thought into it. Good work!

Really cute and addictive game! Definitely more engaging than many other tower defense games. There are a couple things that might need fixing (and others have already pointed them out), but overall this is a really good submission! Also, how the heck do you get to wave 60?

A fun take on the tower defense genre the art was nice and cute I'd love to see more well done!

You game is really fun! The only thing I had some problems with was differentiating the slime/fish from the background. I suggest you brighten the colours of the grass and beach a little bit so the slime stands out more.

This was really fun, and both the art style and music were great. ~  Do check mine and give your valueable feedback:D

Hi ExplosiveJam!

Wow! What an excellent little tower defense experience! I love the idea of building your own battlefield, it reminds me of Sanctum, one of my all time favorite games.

One way to improve this is to have a tooltip telling the player what each of the slimes do, so the player can strategize with complete information. Also it would be cool if there were a way to pause while you set up your defense and call the wave at your leisure!

With my cheesiest strategy I only got to level 6, but boy did it feel like an accomplishment after failing quite frequently. Thanks for sharing this game is sweet! Good luck!

Best,

I liked the idea of combing tower abilities and that sometimes you don't necessarily want to combine things. That said I wasn't really sure how well my towers were performing since it's hard to notice how much damage a particular tower is doing and the fish all sort of look the same so I wasn't sure if the fish were more tanky that wave or if my towers were just bad.

On an unrelated note tower defense games with mazing need to make a comeback.

Developer

Yes! I love tower defense games with mazing. Though I think for most people in a game jam the pathfinding demands too much coding. If I did premade enemy path and tower slots we would've had much more time polishing the game. The enemy isn't very smart nor predictable anyway.

Cool game! The art and overall gameplay were good, although it would be good if you didn't repeat the tutorial every time. It's also a really good idea to build to WebGL, a lot more people will play your game if you do. Also, I don't know if I missed something but this seems to be a bit of a stretch for the theme

Developer(+1)

We were only able to build the WebGL version after the game which was a bit of a shame...

Ah rip I nearly forgot too
At least you got the windows version built in time tho

First, THE MUSIC IS AMAZING. I loved this game, I feel the dialogue could be shorten or maybe give the player the ability to skip. Also, it would be nice if you could do more to teach the player how to merge slimes and the difference between blue and greet.

This is cool, though I wish I had noticed that there was a way to skip the dialogue in the beginning! He goes on for just a wee bit too long before the game starts, and then the fish just come out like BAM! maybe something as simple as a 3,2,1 would be useful so as a player I know when the actual game part is starting? And, as has been said below, a bit of knowledge about what each slime does would be cool, although I got the gist of it just by using them

what a game! And pretty well-addictive too! Everything about this is just great. The art music and the upgrades. The dance too

This was really fun, and both the art style and music were great. I wish there was a way to see what each slime did ingame though.

Developer

We actually planned to have the scientist’s dialogue describe the slimes but we ran out of time :P

Cool game! I wish I could see the stats of the slimes when they're on the board, but once I saw the tips on the game's page it made a lot more sense!

I love the art style and the music is REALLY good.  The scientist dancing on the left is awesome. I noticed that you can skip the intro by pressing esc but I do think you should signal it a bit better to the player because I found it by luck.

Here are some tips from the game page:

- Shift-click to place multiple slimes

- Escape to skip all dialog

- Enter or Space to skip current dialog

- It's possible to get to wave 60 after that the game lags out

I like the game you guys really put effort into it.

Here is my feedback:

- Very good job on the mechanics and the 2D animations

- The introduction should not be repeated when retrying or at least there should be a way to skip it.

- The fish are too fast. (maybe I'm just a noob lol)

- I like how there is a story for the game.

Overall, you did a great job in 48 hours :D

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! This is our first time making a game. Also, you can skip the dialog with Esc.

This is like plant versus zombies with a maze that you can design yourself! Would fit the theme better if you can add some combo when you connect different slime in adjacent tiles tho and the game is quite difficult. And the exposition can be a better tutorial as well.
