This horror game did well at causing sound effects causing fear to the situation however I will like to call out that sometimes I do get stuck on some slopes but overall great job with your jam game!

Thanks so much for your feedback, we hadn't come across that specific problem so we'll definitely take a look!

The style of this is adorable yet spooky at the same time! When I first saw the animation of Hanzel helping Gretel to climb the log, I thought it was super cute <3 Well, all the animation for the characters is cute really, but that one especially made me aww :D

Sadly, I ran into a bit of a problem after getting caught by a wolf during the food-collecting stage. It put me back at the house with my already collected food still counted, but it sort of froze :( I can drop breadcrumbs, but I can't move anywhere. I read in some of the other comments that stuff like this can happen, so I will just try again from the beginning when I have more time :3

Thanks so much for your feedback. The artist/animator did a really good job on this :) Unfortunately, we thought we'd fixed that specific bug you're talking about, but apparently not (post jam we definitely will). I appreciate the time you've taken to play through it though!

I look forward to revisiting after the jam then :3 I'm in love with the art style + want to know what happens to the pair of them... I hope they end up being okay x3

We definitely will let you know when we've rereleased :)

I really like the art here. The storybook paper feel is so appropriate for a game about Hanzel and Gretel! I frequently ran into a bug where my characters just stopped moving and my only option was to restart the chapter (at which point it would usually happen again). In chapters where the gameplay consists of ~5 minutes of holding one direction and occasionally pressing E and then 5 more minutes of walking back, restarting just isn't an option. I never found out what the breadcrumbs do, or how to get past the wolf, but I feel like if the levels were 1/2 to 1/3 their current length, I'd be more inclined to try to find out. I love the tone and the art so much, I would love if you could fix up a few of these issues so I could see what else you've made!

Thanks for taking the time to write out such thoughtful feedback! The gameplay does need improving (unfortunately we didn't have enough time to implement everything we wanted to), and the length is far too long. The breadcrumbs are actually the key to escaping the wolf; it's stopped or delayed depending on the light source, so the breadcrumbs pause it for a few seconds while the lamp completely defeats it. We're hoping to complete the game and release it properly, so we'll give you a shout if/when that happens :)

It's a very beautiful game, I found myself loving every animation in it and it conveys a good spooky atmosphere. Like some others, I also ran into a bug where I was unable to move after trying to climb a log (at the food-gathering part, after I'd somehow returned to the house after collecting 4 mushrooms and was told that I needed to go get more.)

As well, some of the ambient noises are much louder than the music. It gave me a good jolt the first time, but after that I wished that they were quieter so I could listen to the music at a decent volume.

Thanks, it's the first time we've created a horror game so we're glad you liked the atmosphere! The bug you're talking about seems to occur when the player gets hit by the wolf (which we're currently trying to fix). The audio levels do need adjusting as well, thanks for pointing that out. Your feedback has been really helpful :)

I thought the art was great. But, it looks like the gameplay is lacking and there are a few bugs here and there that take me out of the immersion. At some point, I got completely stuck while attempting to climb up a wood log.

Developer

The gameplay is definitely lacking, mostly because we had to drastically reduce the scope in order to finish in time. Thanks for the feedback!

The art was great as was the music!  Ran into a bug at the end after getting hit by the wolf where I couldn't move anymore.

Thanks for letting us know, we'll try to get this bug fixed!

Sound was great, the art style is awesome. I wasnt able to finish though because i think i got stuck on my own breadcrumbs after collecting 5 sticks (i never encountered a witch either). I would be interested in playing a more polished version.

Developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback :) We weren't aware of the breadcrumbs problem, we will definitely be looking into that. At the moment the witch only appears at the very end of the game as we didn't have time to properly implement her. Hopefully we will finish this up post game jam, so we'll let you know if we get to a release stage.

This game looks absolutely stunning! great art work and animations! My biggest complaint is that the game just feels too slow.  Maybe try shortening the map or creating varied locations? I don't know just seemed very repetitive after the first 30 seconds

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! The levels are somewhat randomised when playing through, and if you get to the far end of a level they will change again. That being said, they should definitely be shorter with more variation. Thanks again :)
