Fun mechanic good art/music to go with it! Glad you recommended the phone, it worked well there. Only missed 6!

I didn’t really have time to focus on the combo mechanic, I was too busy drawing. It sounded neat during the intro (Great tutorial), but in practice I was frantically drawing too fast to even look at what’s coming on the left.

For a jam, it worked really great though. My only frustration was some trouble drawing the circles.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, the algorithm i used to detect the shapes didn't detect circles as good as the other shapes.

Makes me feel a bit better, but I know mine were also pretty lousy :)

Neat. Very much like that Halloween Google Doodle about the black cat drawing the symbols above the ghosts heads, though more relaxing, since missing a symbol doesn't mean they are going to attack you. Have no specific feedback for this one. Just a chill relaxing game :)

Thanks! It was based off of that game lol

45335 point 111 souls saved with 10 missed! I feel like it's a good score :)

I gotta say- when I played your early prototype I thought- this needs some polish. And then you gave it some polish! I like the difficulty balance- it feels like with enough effort you really could save everyone, but if that's the case it's not easy! The combo system was also a really nice touch!

Graphics looks nice! I feel like they have more character than in the prototype (I also am starting to suspect that others can't compare to the prototype :))

Audio is good, music fits the atmosphere, and the sound effect indicating success is crisp.

The take on the theme is straightforward, but the gameplay fits it well.

Over all- this is a great example, on how to make a simple jam game, that's also polished, intense, and fun! Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thx! I had to really grind after I got all the feedback from everyone lol. Also thx for the early feedback you gave :)

I like this game because it is very polished. It's simple enough, but everything is done well, from the fun factor, art style, and audio & music. The tutorial is also very helpful, and it's nice you've managed to put it in this game jam submission.

The only feedback i would give is maybe the combo pop up in the center is too big, that it might distract the player from seeing the shape(s) correctly. Other than that, everything else is crisp. Great game!

Developer

Thx! Ig I could have done that to help with visibility. I'll maybe do it after the voting :)

Cool concept and pretty fun too.

Developer

Thanks, glad you liked it!!

This is very very addictive T_T I was so pumped into trying to save them all but ended up loosing 4 souls during the last wave lol. Pretty fun!!!

Developer

Thx! Yeah i tried to make it very satisfying to play lol. Glad you liked it tho!

This was quite fun. I found I was betetr than I thought I'd be. The combo feature was really cool. It could stand to be a bit more difficult, I think. Took a long time before I missed a soul

Developer

Thx! Glad you liked it. I am working on a new mechanic that should make the game a bit more hard and strategic!!

That game is very fun, its a really neat concept that I think is very satisfying to play. I do wish however there was an actual thing stopping you from saving them all besides just skill level. Because I didnt actually miss any and the end screen even said "Souls you couldn't save: 0" so it does feel like the theme is lost on that end. It's a fun and unique experience though and I had a nice time with it.

Developer

Oh you did!?! Maybe I should have made it more hard. But i am working on a new "prayer energy" mechanic so that should solve this problem :)

I really enjoyed playing this! Got really into the flow state, very impressive how you managed to evoke that. Kind of fits the 'narrative' of the game as well, the meditative state the player character is in. On the other hand, playing the game is kind of stressful too, so there's some thematic friction there, too. Not that that hinders the experience in any way, of course.

The main mechanic is enjoyable, I feel like you managed to find a good sweetspot of when a drawn shape registers and when it doesn't. The circle is maybe one exception, but I was playing with mouse, so I'm not sure I can really put that out there as criticism.

The game matches the theme okay, I would say: I missed three characters, but don't feel like it's unreasonable to not miss any of them. What I mean is: I don't feel like I was forced to make a tough decision, I just didn't get around to saving some of them.

One other thing I'd like to put out there as 'criticism' (though I really liked the game!) is that the combo system could, maybe in a more developed version of this game, be given more importance. In my experience, the most optimal way to play was to just be very quick with drawing the shapes, not necessarily looking out for combo's. Maybe, if players engage a certain soul by drawing their first symbol, they're 'locked' to that soul and have to finish it. That would heighten the importance of thinking ahead, which isn't really required right now. Just an idea!

Developer(+1)

Hmm, I get what you are saying! That is a good idea. I am actually working on a new mechanic where you have a "praying energy" amount. Maybe that would help?

Submitted

Yeah, maybe! Curious to see how that works out. Good luck!

I played with the mouse, it was fun but a bit clunky. need to try with the phone, the drawing mechanic is really interesting to play with.

Developer

Yeah.. you can actually use your mouse and press 'SPACE' instead of holding your move down to draw faster!

Submitted

I like the mechanics, they kept me pretty engaged but never got overly complex. My only recommendation is that there should be a score punishment if you draw a different shape that isn’t correct. Right now you can just kind of spam draw the known shapes and it’ll match sometimes before they’re even on screen.

Developer

Yeah, that does make sense. But sometimes spam drawing is pretty fun to do! Thx for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

I don’t disagree, I still enjoyed it regardless of my feedback :)
