Oh wow! You are tenacious indeed! So happy i managed to put a "winning" screen, wven as rudimentary.
Amazing art as always spoon!
You really recreated the original Tamagotchi in your own way, very well executed!
It was a bit confusing but that makes it even closer to the original :P
thanks for playing Benim! hehe thats how I will market it from now own, "confusing is part of the package"
Was the game fun to play?
Your artwork and animations are top tier and watching how everything interacts is a lot of fun. The game seems to be intentionally cryptic but trying to figure it out and piece it all together is certainly part of the fun. I’ve managed to accidentally mutate my cat with a mix of too much medicine and lava I think, which is a hilarious and unexpected outcome. I’ve also got one of each shape green on the factory screen but I’m not sure what it means yet. From what I can tell, the book has fractions and I’m seeing if they are equal or not. It’s all very puzzling but in a good way. I’ll probably have to check back in the comments to see if anyone has worked it all out to see what I’ve missed seeing.
Did the game include the core elements from the original?
Absolutely. The cat is adorable. Feeding cake and fish looked great. Giving the medicine looked great too and the game certainly has the hygiene aspect done in a very cool and original way. Pouring the lava looked amazing and is a great way to clear the poo.
Was there a clear path of progression?
This is the one area that feels a bit opaque. Currently, there isn't a clear indicator of an end goal to me at least. While the mystery is fun, a subtle hint at how close I am to achieving the end result would be great to add in.
How good was the audio and sound FX?
The music is top notch and fits well with the game. The sound effects are equally impressive and I think all of the things like the people saying aha to the cat complaining etc adds a lot to the enjoyment of the game.
How well implemented was the UI?
In a word, I would say the UI is stunning. The main buttons look amazing especially with the shine effect and I love the little details like the keyboard letters written on the bottom of each of them. They animate really well and I like that you can use a mouse or keyboard to press them. The volume sliders are the best I’ve ever seen in any game, those cats on them add a lot of personality. The bars at the top looked great too with the images inside them, but I wasn't fully sure what the blue one represented.
Thank you for such a detailed comment! Really appreciate you leaving this here, but also all around other devs work, it really allows me and i am sure other devs the opportunity to understand in depth your experience with the jam games.
Glad the lava worked as intended hehe and also the buttons with the keys written on them (good catch)
Thank you also for noticing and commenting about the shapes in the main menu! Square represents solid cat, triangle liquid, and circle gas cat. As the pressure increases through time, the cat changes states (and if you successfully keep its green bar above a threshold) it transforms or goes back to the sludge after reaching each pressure point. This was my sign of progression (alongside the bars ofcourse), trying to signify "how close to the end". In retrospect, I could have made it way clearer, instead of leaving at the main screen, without even an animation to draw the eye there. After reaching the gas (circle) cat once, the pressure increases again, turning the cat solid, but more defined. Then again through all the states, to more defined, reaching the end with a lvl9 fully animated gas cat.
The blue bar, I went for "weight" as the original tamagotchi i think.
regarding the fraction task:
Blue button tried to represent the "play/work" action of the original. I tried to draw on it an image of balancing scales. You are given 2 fractions, and must say if they are the same (X- green) or different (N -orange). And ofcourse i have equivalent fractions there, which i secretly classify as "the same" that's why the balancing scales.
The art and music were top-notch!
The trial-and-error nature of the gameplay was reminiscent of Tamagatchi, so the payoff for confusing UI implementation is the inclusion of the original's core elements!
Congrats on the real-life events!
XD this has to be the most polite and elegant way expressing the situation hehe
Thank you for such a divine comment, and thank you for the warm wishes!
I mean it, you get games that have super obvious cause-and-effect because the dev wants you to see everything they made. Not very 'tamagotchi, though.
Then you get games that have obscured cause-and-effect because there isn't any real impact to the player's actions.
Then there is this game, which has plenty going on and new types of cats/artwork along with the obscured cause-and-effect. I think it's a brave move, to preserve the core elements even knowing players that get too confused won't see everything you made for them to experience, kudos!
This is how far I got (I can't believe this whole time I thought the fraction game was to select the button on the same side as the larger fraction or do nothing for equivalent):

Wanted to say thanks for seeing it as balanced!
Also, super congratulations on getting there! I didn't playtest a lot, but it must have been super tedious to get there! Great work on finding that was the progression chart, was not very obvious with it hehe.
Really cool art, sfx and music, I could have used a little more direction in game or labelling. I got the handle after a few trys really nice game.
Hey Rico! 100%! I have to improve my communication skills, trying to be cryptic yet always confusing peole is something of a habit of mine hehe
I loved evolving the cat. Took me a little while to get what was going on, but after a few dead kitties I was able to get the hang of. As always I love your art and game designs. Great job!
Thanks Dev Pirates! Correction: The kitties dont die, they become one with the sludge (wanted to spend more time making this clearer but oh well, no time hehe)
Thanks for the support!
Incredible art as always! I struggled understanding what was going on with the game in general though xD Especially the screen with the fractions I did not really understand lol
Hey SQLPY! thanks for playing, sorry for the confusion lol
As usual I want to have some part cryptic in my game, but most of the time I make it just weird 😅
Pasting this here if it helps:

Beautiful game! Awesome atmosphere 👌
Hello evengy! Thanks for dropping by! Glad you liked it!
Graphics is definitely making it feel real good despite the lack of deeper gameplay.
Did not understand the purpose of the blue button, was relative difficult to find the right key to get out of that again.
Otherwise it looks cool, and feels good to seemingly take care of the liquid/gas cat.
Hey crudeforge! Glad i got away with the graphics hihihi

I tried to follow your suggestion on discord, to take care of the things <3
This is really cool! There are a few things that could use clarity but as it is this is a very cool tamagotchi clone. As usual, the animations are superb, and the UI looks and feels so clean. Great job!
Thanks p4songer! Glad the UI felt okay!
yeah... i need to study how great games take care of "cryptic" instructions and hit this vague spot. Do share any games you think do it well!
