Stuff you didn't do during the jam
Various second life assets were used in the screenshots used for the "prize art" in the game and the photos took place in my second life house which existed prior to this jam. I took various CC0 Audio samples and graphics from freesound, wikimedia commons, and Flickr

what an experience

bless u pickledoge your games are always a treat.  i feel like you've invented the hornypasta.  big fan of the "aaa"

It's scary, it's got mazes, and there's Daphne. Just as advertised!

This is cute and charming. Reminds me of something you would've found in the weird parts of Newgrounds circa the mid-2000s. Making it creepypasta-themed instead of an actual creepypasta was an inspired choice.

This is the most horrifying game ive ever played

4.5/5.1

i like that the scares in the game feel more like a friend/partner doing a little fakeout scare than, like, a serious jump scare. i think it makes the game feel more sexy too, like we are literally playing with this character in a sort of teasing way (or maybe vice versa).

on the itch page, the button for the crystal level is obscured by the four itch buttons in the top-right corner. some level geometry is also sometimes obscured by these. i decided to just zoom out, although something like a fullscreen mode could also address that.

the levels themselves were a little tricky but i got through em all. for me the rain level was probably easier than the previous two as there weren't any super tight corridors. i really like the collage appearance of the game and the crystal level especially.

I forgot about the rate and dev page buttons that does make sense they'd block the game at low resolutions

My laptop screen is a bit too small but it was honestly kind of a fun additional challenge to have to move the maze around with the scroll wheel while managing the cursor placement at the same time...until I got to the rain level and it got too hard lol. Zooming out let me finish though! Really neat concept and nice execution, I think there are a lot of places you could take this idea, and I love the silly chaotic vibe!

Ah, this takes me back to the simple days of flash. I liked the character and all the scenes with her. I appreciate this didn't copy the ol' days of [EXTREMELY LOUD SCREAMER].

Developer

didn't want to hurt anyone's ears or mine while playtesting it yeah

i tried a couple times to cheat on the maze, no luck, i did end up completing the game. pretty neat

Kind of nostalgic actually, I liked how the game didn't take itself seriously at all. I agree with Lupanar that the background and foreground were sometimes hard to tell apart-- most specifically in levels 2 & 4 (bg is too bright in 2 & there's some dark lines in the bg of 4 that can be confused for maze lines). Had fun with this one tho!

Cool to see an impossible maze clone. The only really bad thing I have to note is the playable area and the backgrounds are often indistinguishable from one another, and it makes it a bit hard to read what's going on. Good job though, would have loved to see more levels with increasing complexity.

Developer

yeah i could make some of the backdrops a bit more distinct from the foreground if i make a post jam update

This was so funny and cute. The voice was way too high for me to be scared and I bypassed the resolution issue by playing at 60% its size. Not a fantastic idea but it made this challenging haha
The monster was cute and hot and the difficulty was very well balanced!

Developer(+1)

nice glad the game was still playable by lowering the size.

Short and fun, the perfect length and challenge ramp to keep players engaged enough to get all of the prizes! The assorted assets all feel fitting for the sort of half-chaotic tone you're trying to set.

I got trolled by my small monitor.
I coudnt make it til the end for my resolution.
The levels I did played were bizarre in a charming way.

Buying into the narrative:
Daphne tries way too hard to scare you, it's kind of cute the hoops she jumps just to get "you" to jump.

Developer (1 edit)

might be possible to play the game on a smaller resolution by zooming out the browser using ctrl+scrollwheel to zoom out (might be different keybind on different browsers). Daphne tries her best to be a scary monster in this game πŸ™‚

woaaaa this is so scary im aaaaaaaaaaaa
it was really funny, great job

Interesting concept! I like that the lose screen+sound wasn't too scary, but could still take me by surprise if i wasn't paying enough attention. I think the game could benefit by having a fullscreen toggle for a more immersive experience, as well as a custom mouse cursor as a hitbox indicator.

Developer

I should probably expriment with the clickteam exporter and see if i can get a good full-screen for an update yea. I wonder if a custom cursor is possible too

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

if it doesn't have a specific function for setting the mouse cursor, you could just hide the cursor (I'd assume that's possible in clickteam?) and have a sprite set to its position. That's what I did for my game to make it more dynamic than a regular cursor.

This is like what i'd see if hypnospace outlaw had a 18+ section <3

Developer (1 edit)

I still need to play that game i've seen a bit of screenshots of it though

A rather silly game overall (but that's good!). I did get some laughs out of some screens, especially the water one with the jpegs of lake life scattered about. It's fun, short, and doesn't take itself too seriously. I enjoyed it as a novel short form experience.

Developer(+1)

I had fun putting down the lake life i'm glad you thought it was funny.

Despite how rough this game is conceptually, I was honestly doubling over laughing at the little high-pitched voice lines on the victory screen. An incredibly unique aesthetic, very memorable, such a shame there isn't a rating for humour! Full of charm.

Developer

I'm glad the pitched up voices and aesthetic choices are appreciated πŸ™‚
