quite a hard game, sometimes i trimmed the red part and new ones keep showing and i cant estimate how much of it was left. art and graphics are great though!

I think I may be the only one so far who actually beat the game. I think the difficulty is compounded by the red parts overlapping with green parts. Sometimes, this completely hides the red parts so that you can't find the last bit to click, and other times, you can't click the red parts because of the overlap with green parts, getting a false "wrong cut". I think spreading the individual nodes out a bit, or at least making the red bits appear and detect collision above the green parts would go a long way in helping the game feel more fair (which seems to be the most common comment). One last thing to be cautious of is use of AI art. That's really triggering for some reason to other gamedevs.

That being said, the gameplay, and tree structure is probably the most impressive thing I've seen in any of the submissions here. I took a look at the tree which you have on your itch page, and it's one of the most impressive ways to create a tree that I've ever seen. As a godot user, I think it would be a fun challenge to recreate that myself to use in gdscript. I also extensively tested the different scissors as I unlocked them, and they did indeed function as you said. I'm honestly blown away at how coding this is even possible. I feel like if I had the chance to read your codebase, I would learn something incredibly valuable. All around, great job. Great demonstration of your skill.

thank you for everything you said, would you believe me if I told you this project under my directive(I decided 100% of the vision) was 100% AI generated? including the tree structure?(the Plant Programmer was 100% made by human, me) people hating on AI is because they are angry artists(AI is faster and cheaper for low and medium qualities, for now) or had bad first impression from AI, but the tech improves democritizing more and more abilities at cheaper costs...

I'm tracking with you, and I don't disagree. People on both ends of the argument have issues that are really hard to justify. I was merely trying to say, using AI in your projects is a hot button issue right now.

If you want to chat more about this, hmu in discord :)

Oh! This is really challenging, especially with a trackpad. The art is great! Did you draw and animate Nora yourself?

DeveloperSubmitted

thank you, regarding Nora... I'll let Grok answer that, go ahead Grok ->
Grok: "I am Pleading the Fifth,
'Pleading the Fifth' means invoking your constitutional right against self-incrimination under the Fifth Amendment, allowing you to refuse to answer questions in legal proceedings if the answers might help convict you of a crime; it's a legal shield against being forced to be a witness against yourself."

Regardless, Nora looks great, whether You or Grok did it or not

<3 thanks dude

Cool mechanic.  Its on the harder side, maybe simplify it a little bit more for 20 seconds.

DeveloperSubmitted

the point is hardcore replayability, you can play for 30 seconds in the tutorial ;) thank you for playing and commenting <3

Wow I really like how you did the plants great job on your game!

DeveloperSubmitted

thanks dude.

Really like the idea of a cozy gardening game, except it's not :)) Absolutely love the pixel art style, looks stunning. Good job!!

P/s: Also, tell Nora i'm sorry for killing her plants and convince her not to fire me please :)) she looks gorgeous 🫶

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

LMAO thank you so much <3

Every now and then it felt like I got a wrong cut, when I was pretty sure I cut a red branch.  This is a fun idea.  I think for a 20s jam, the number of cuts probably needs to come down: maybe I'm an outlier there.

The music, art, and concept are all fun.  Good job.

DeveloperSubmitted

thank you for the feedback! ill look into it

I Polished it, see now if it's more to your liking

Sorry Nora, for ruining your plants ;-; That was hella fun game, even tho i do lack the skill. Awesome concept and delivery!

DeveloperSubmitted

Thank You so Much <3

Never thought I would get to play a roguelite about cutting plants but here we are. Nice game! And uh.. SFW edition implies the existance of a NSFW edition?

DeveloperSubmitted

hehe ;) maybe later, and thank you for playing

The art is really good! I suck at cutting plants apparently.

DeveloperSubmitted (1 edit) (+1)

it gets easier my dude, you can do it, each scissor you unlock cuts more red leaves :) do it for Nora

Submitted(+1)

Its hard cutting the plants correctly hahaha , I keep missing and getting fired. The visual effects are really cool. Nice Work!

This was a lot of fun to play, just trimming away. I was cutting it close (no pun intended) to many of the time limits, but I ultimately got through some of the plants without getting fired. The art and game play was very fun and appealing to look at. Fantastic job! :)
