Game description
In a future where energy waves threaten the quantum realm, you are the last line of defense. Build an array of advanced towers, strategically placing them to intercept incoming waves of digital invaders. But your role isn't just passive observation – you are the Quantum Guardian, an active participant on the battlefield, wielding the power of waves to turn the tide!
Welcome to Quantum Defense, a unique blend of classic Tower Defense strategy with an active player role, developed for GitHub Game Off 2025!
Theme interpretation
Quantum Defense embraces the WAVES theme in multiple exciting ways:
- Waves of Enemies: The core challenge revolves around defending against relentless waves of diverse enemy types, each with unique properties.
- Player's Resonance Wave: Your player character possesses a powerful Resonance Wave ability (activated with 'E'). This emits a wave of energy that can:
-- Revive deactivated towers.
-- Damage special enemies.
- Tower Visual Pulses: Your advanced defense towers emit continuous, mesmerizing visual waves (pulses) that add to the game's vibrant aesthetic.
- Strategic Waves: The game itself is a wave of escalating strategic challenges, pushing players to adapt their defenses and tactics across increasingly difficult levels.

The game looks and feels really cool! I loved the simple art style, and the audio was just perfect.
I kept running into an issue were I couldn't fix inactive towers. I clicked e three times, but it said that the ability is on cooldown. I wasn't sure if I didn't got something or if it's a bug
It was nice that you can play any level, and trying some of them the game looks very feature rich. very cool
Very atmospheric game! I like it has some narration!
Unfortunately, met a bug: The First Stand level wasn't loaded. Before it, I completed tutorial level and start watching Full story, but cancelled.
Anyway, by tutorial it's very promising!
It is a very neatly finished, simple yet enganging tower defense game. I like the dialgoue narrative before each level. Overall, I liked the vibe of the game, good variety in enemies, weapon system and upgrades!
It is nice and the audio.
Maybe it is a bit easy, but I like it.
Thank you for trying trhe game anbd leaving a review. I think some parts of the game are definitely easy, currently there is no penalty in placing towers too close to each others apart from the pulse tower deactivating nearby towers if it hits them. We have plans to expand on the overall gameplay and once we push a new patch containing a whole new set of changes we would love for you to try out the game and give us your review. Thanks again!
Wow, the production value is incredible!
The tutorial is super well-crafted, the story is cool and nicely non-heavy handed while still being cosmic and weird. I really like how you leaned into the fact that we're looking at abstract shapes, but they actually have meaning and character thanks to the story. The blend of tower-defence with an actual player character interacting as well is a pretty fresh take on the genre, and the game is genuinely pretty challenging the farther you go on.
Super good job guys, what an achievement!
Thank you for taking time out and trying the game, more-so-over leaving a review. We really appreciate that. We are still in the process of building this to completion and would love to gather your reviews once it is done.
Awesome! The completeness is really impressive, cannot believe to see game with this level of completeness in a Game Jam!
Thank you for taking the time out and playing the game. I really appreciate the comment. For the jam I will keep the game same but I am going to push a big patch that removes the bugs and fully completes this indie game. I will let you know so you can also try it out, thanks!
Great aesthetic, the story is very interesting. Unfortunately I kept running into bugs preventing progress and forcing me to restart. Not sure why my towers would sometimes deactivate or why certain tutorial beats would fail.
One bug I can help reproduce is that if you “Watch full story” first, then realise that you should have played game first, exit out, then go to play game… then it will continue to skip every level until you reload the page.
Overall the vibe and game play were very impressive, but needs a bit more polish and work to truly shine. Great work!
Hi, Thanks for playing the game. You ran into the only bugs unfortunately which I did not have time to fix.
There are two known bugs which will be fixed with a patch, it is unfortunate that you ran into both of them.
1. Watch full story causes the levels not to work unless you restart. (this was a bit tricky to fix and identify honestly, I put the story mode for personal debugging and left it there :P)
2. In tutorial, if you kill the phantom before it disables the towers then the tutorial is stuck. (I initially put the fix in the build but later realised the code was overriding the behaviour. This is now fixed and in the next patch, which I would like you to play once I push it you can see it fixed.)
I have fixed both of them and am planning to push a bigger patch with the final level implemented, so I will ask you to wait on those bugs unfortunately.
The reason the towers would deactivate are as follows:
1. The phantom deactivates the towers it passes by.
2. The towers themselves deal damage to each other if they hit each other leading to them being disabled.
3. If you place the tower close to the Purple (static) rift then it periodically emits a wave which disables the towers.
There is also the blue (nexus) rift which emits nexus wave which kills the phantom and enables any deactivated towers.
Thank you for playing the game and leaving a feedback, its a shame you encountered all the few handful known bugs which I could not fix because of the time limit of the jam.
Excellent! Not only the graphic, but also story ( it's pity that my poor English level can't help me understand the story ) and human's voice are existing.
Thanks for leaving a feedback, I am glad you liked it. What language are you comfortable in? Maybe I can put some work and add multi language support :P
My native language is Chinese, and I am also learning English and Japanese
Cool polish project. Everything does something when I click on it. Tutorial was verrrrry clear. The visuals style is cool aswell.
Not a big fan of tower defense games but the game is solid.
Thanks for taking time out and playing the game even though Tower defense is not your go-to thing. I am glad you liked the tutorial and the visual style!
Good game. I am not into tower defence games so i do not have any issue to adress on gameplay. the game looks polished and well-done! The music and sfx are also good, congrats!
Thank you for playing our game and leaving a review. Since we are new to game dev and game jam the idea was to go with a game mode we are comfortable making. Thanks!
I would like to see this project developed to completion. I personally was unable to complete the tutorial sequence as after the phantom died nothing else happened for over 2-3 minutes. Getting the game to play at all was challenging as well, I clicked on the story first, and trying to play just looped through the story from that point forward. Refreshing allowed me to play up until wave 4/5 in the tutorial.
Hello, Thank you for taking time out and playing the game and more so over leaving a feedback. The issues you are running into is a known issue which I did not have time to fix due to limited energy and time. It usually happens when you kill the Phantom before the towers are deactivated. I need to add a fix for that which I will be doing in the coming week. We also plan to finish this game polish it more, add more levels, Level Complete Stats screen etc that would make it a full package. Also there is a known Issue in Story mode playback (I put it for my debugging tbh, not the bug but the ability to see storymode) that due to some bug it causes the levels to only show the story unless you refresh the screen. These are some minor bug fixes that we still need to address and will do as soon as I have recovered from the energy drain from the game jam xD. Once again thanks a lot! If you'd like to replay the levels please do so. We will also let you know when the game is completed and available to download via Steam. Thanks a lot!
Wow, this is very polished! I loved the inclusion of voices and storytelling, the aesthetics are very nice with the minimalist art style, and the game flows very nicely too! Really cool!
Thank you very much for playing the game! We are happy you liked it!
Very cool to see a game with proper tutorial in a gamejam, hats off to that! The game itself feels very polished gameplay and audio wise, great stuff!
I really appreciate the approach of making a clean and easy to understand gameplay and polish the hell out of it. Pretty unusual for a gamejam, so again: congrats on this, nice work
Thank you for taking the time out, playing the game and leaving a feedback. I am overwhelmed by how much people are liking the game made in 15-ish days. By the end of development I was feeling that the game itself doesn't show significant changes when polishing it but with all the reviews and feedback on it's general playability really is a strong motivator to finish the game and the fact that the small polihing details added everyday are noticable really makes our day! Thanks again!
Super cool game! Great job on teaching/tutorial and voice work - super impressed! Easily the best tower defense game I've played in the jam so far. I did skip to the last level and couldn't figure it out (nothing was really happening?) although that's probably my fault for not sequentially going through them :)
Thanks for taking time out and playint the game. I am glad you liked it. Thank you for your kind words. Yes the last level did not work because it is not implemented (it is still in development), I think you missed the text that says it on the screen. But I was running out of energy and time to spend on finishing the last level such that it cohesively works with the theme and the story. Although with so many positive feedback I have the motivation to finish the level and publish this game on steam. It will be quite fun. THanks for your kind appreciative words and feedback!
Very clean graphics, menus and all is well presented. I like that you have a full GitHub Readme. I also liked the voice and full instructions and orientation of how to play. First time seeing a space type tower defense. Multiple waves of attack are the obvious Wave theme use here. Sound was engaging and gameplay was better than expected. I like that they travel the paths and there is a full well planned story around the game.
Thank you for taking time out and playing our game and leaving a feedbackl! I am glkad you liked it. We wish to expand on it, finish the final level and polish it more in the future.
I played your game, you have a unique way of talking in the game. I liked how you incorporated the tover defense play style into wave. Congratulations.
Thank you very much for taking time out and trying the game!
I can really appreciate all the polish that has been done for this game. There are a lot of little details like voice-over tutorial and quickly skipping through dialogue options that are usually (understandably) missing from jam games.
While the art style is quite simple, I like the overall art direction.
The game is simple, yes, but I think the polished execution makes it stand out among other tower defenses in this jam!
Thank you very much for taking time out and playing the game and more so leaving a feedback. Since this is the first game we have worked on we wanted to make it as intuitive for the player as possible. The mechanics were kept simple (yet interesting) and a story is added to blend everything together to make sense of it all. I am really glad you liked the art style as it (the art style) is really my Achilles' heel. As a developer on the game, I took full help from my co-contributor Lira who helped design the music and sounds that helps bring all of it together as one package. We do aim to finish the game and add more changes like Level Stats after the game is over and definitely a final fight between Static and Nexus/Guardian to close of the fun little game. Thank you for your kind words.
Also, It is not present but since I needed to debug the game, when you play a story you can press ~ (tilde) key to skip the story incase you want to start the level directly :D
Nice one! Overall it feels nice to play, and good job on the narration and tutorial, it helped a lot to get into it.
It looks great and audio is simple but effective.
It clearly fit the theme in its narrative, which is great! However the gameplay seems to be quite classic as it is "just" a tower defense with a wave skin. I have seen other tower defense entries that proposed more innovating idea.
Despite that, it is a well done game, good job for that :)
Thank you very much for taking time out, trying the game and leaving a feedback. This is the first time we have worked on a game and participated in a competition. It has been quite a journey getting people to build the game, music and ofcourse the playtesting my friends neede to do. I wanted to make it easy and a bit of story aligned and I am glad that it made it easy for you to play and get into the game. As you mention, it is indeed a tower defense game with a wave skin and some story that tries to blend it together. We hope to finish this game, polish it and maybe add more QOL (quality of life) changes that would make it a fully functional. I am glad you liked the game, we will work on the final level and will try to push it on steam even if it only gets 2 downloads from us :P
seems pretty fun, i reallly like the idea, UX/UI its pretty nice to
Thank you very much for taking time out and tryingg our game. We are glad you enjoyed it. This is the first time we have participated in any game making competition or built a game in general so I am glad you liked it. Thanks again :D
