I can see what you were going for here, and the concept works well, but a few areas could use more polish.

The wall jump feels a bit sticky, like I’m getting caught on the surface rather than bouncing off it. It doesn’t feel very satisfying right now. The dash could also use a stronger visual cue, such as a quick blink, afterimage, or dust trail to help it stand out and feel more impactful.

During the chase scene, it wasn’t always clear which objects were safe to jump on or move across, which caused some confusion and unexpected deaths. Improving the visual contrast or readability there would make a big difference.

These are all very fixable issues, and addressing them would really elevate the experience. I liked the aesthetic choices and atmosphere you created, it sets the tone nicely.

Very nice platformer, especially enjoyed the trick or treat scene and amped up sound track that had me running for my life.  Well executed.  Controls were a little difficult with the wall grab/jump/climb system.

Here's my platformer I submitted to a recent jam.

Really nice art. Intense feel. The music was good and helped with the immediacy. I did manage to get to the end of the game. The killer TV was a creative interpretation of the jam theme.

The wall jump was difficult. Might've been easier with a controller. It would've been helpful if the wall jump pushed you away from the wall a bit. I also had to slow down often for the big TV to catch up so I could see the little TVs coming and have enough time to clear them.

Overall a pretty solid platformer.

  • Dino kid is adorable. The art’s got some charm for sure.

  • Music’s catchy, fits the Halloween vibe.

  • Controls are a bit janky, jumps and wall slides feel floaty

  • Checkpoints help a ton, instant respawn feels great.

Fun game! The dinosaur kid is very cute!  Good use of the theme, and the music was good as well.

I finally managed to get past the fire pits, but wasn't able to get very far in the room with the stone walls.  🤪

One suggestion for the controls -- For dash, it would be helpful if we could use either shift key, instead of only the left one.

Great platformer,  like how you respawn immediately, and checkpoints just about right.  I had difficulty with the wall jumps, but i'm sure it will just take a bit of practice.  Good entry, well done. Nice to see a couple of fellow Scots people here.

Thank you so much for playing! We are currently trying to fix the wall jump, no clue why its went a bit weird but hopefully get it sorted soon

The art and level design was beautiful. I think the gravity was too low, so your character took to long to land. In the second chase-level the jump-section with multiple stops fire wasn't doable for me, the tuning was too tight when I had to wait for my character to land on the platforms the TV always got me. I liked it though and would have loved to complete it.

Thank you so much for your feedback, we have just added a fix for this, the wall jump is now a little weird (bounces you away from the wall too much) but added a bit more gravity to the player and tried to smooth out the fire section. Thank you for playing! If you would like to try again, and let us know if you have any more issues that would be amazing!!

It warmed my heart you made this as a husband-and-wife team, i wish I was so lucky I get occasional help from my balding brother lol.

The art was the main thing that knocked this game out of the park - asside form the occasional scaling mainly the cutscene where you meet the monster TV boss if you were going to fix one thing I would suggest that short sequence as it was very noticeable and out of character for the rest of the game. I totally understand how it happened in a short jam - its just some feedback for if you revisit.

The jump was a little floaty so it made it very hard particularly in the chase scene up the tower (I couldn't do it - I did get better and probably in another 20 goes would have got there lol).

Sound was lacking but this was not very noticeable, still some sfxs would undoubtably add to the game.

I thought it was really good and the amount you made and the art standard was crazy impressive.

Adorable main character, very nicely done art, great art direction overall, high quality execution.

    Few comments:

    • During tutorial I died several times and had to start over from the very beginning. This is a bit annoying, consider adding checkpoints, at least along the tutorial level and spawn character on a new checkpoint once the player passed one. It should not be complicated, you just have to store the position of the current checkpoint and updated once the player collided with the new one.

    • Colliders of the enemies (those adorable crazy TVs:)) are a bit to large. It is generally a good practice to make colliders smaller comparing to the enemy sprite / model, so the player still feels the danger but is not being penalized for barely scratching it. Moreover it is usually a great felling when you’ve scratched the enemy but still passed it, adds up to the nerve.

    Congratulation on such an entry!

Can see a lot of works gone into this, lots of art work, and level building.

I think though the player needed more vision of whats ahead, and more gravity or responsive feel to the jump/dash controls.
I got quit frustrated as a player at having to learn where every enemy was coming from, how slow I needed to go up a stairs to not overshoot and land on them,..
A lot of the time as devs we learn the game we're building so well we're such strong experts in the game, we forget that new players don't know how to play it yet.

I recorded my play through attempt. Hopefully it gives some insight into how a player (not super skilled in this style of game) interact with it.

The Update you've made has very much helped with the handling. Got stuck on the fire  pit section though, couldn't find a way across after several attempts

Not sure how to put it, but the controls feel kinda off. In a game where landing somewhere a second too late means dying and starting over, I would prefer less wonky controls. I could not get pass the (3rd?) level where you have to wall jump. Also, I would like the hitbox to be more generous. I swear I jumped over one of the smaller tv, but just kept dying. I do like how the theme is incorporated into the game. And you guys did the art for the tv and character right? They look really nice, I especially like the design for the bigger tv that’s chasing the player. Nice entry!

Loved the interpretation of the theme. Good chase mechanic but the jumps killed me! ^^'

The music was perfect to build the tension. Really nice game! Congrats!

Thank you so much! We added a new update to try smooth the player controls out so hoping its a bit better on the jumps
