I like this! Pretty simple, but still fun all the same, I like the throwing mechanic how it made the bucket heavier when you had a lot of candy! good work! The tileset for the floor looked a little bare when there was no grass or top layer, but that might just be my opinion
Thanks :D as for the tileset, that was mostly intentional, it's a thin layer of grass, but I think it was a little too thin. It's my first time making that sort of asset and I was running out of time to spend polishing it more. I'll have to make a point to revisit it when I start adding more levels.
This was really cool! I liked how the more candy you had, the heavier the bucket got -- leaves a lot of room for interesting level design and I'd love to see you do more with that. Pretty simple and intuitive, with a nice use of the visual theme. One of my faves from this jam!
Thanks :D I'm planning on adding more stages after the jam, just have to figure out how to do that properly.
cute graphics and mechanics in the game, it was quite loud tho, maybe the audio could be a bit quieter. but it seems like you put a lot of effort into levels, mecanics and the puzzles. good work it was quite fun
In options you can adjust the sound levels. I'll look into not having all the audio start at 100% in a future version, though, thanks!
oh that's fair, i totally missed that, i'm sorry
Fun concept for a platformer, having to physically carry candies inside a bucket while also using that bucket as a tool to help you platforming. The gameplay felt pretty smooth & engaging, with a few more elaborate obstacles and levels this concept can definitely go places! good game :D
Thanks! I'm planning on working this concept a bit more post jam and add more stages to it. I'm just glad the parts I spent the most time on show by how much ya'll are enjoying it :D
Yessir, keep it up and best of luck to your future developments!
Hey — I just played your entry and was really impressed by the clean design and how smoothly everything works. The controls feel responsive, and the atmosphere you built kept me engaged from start to finish. One suggestion: you might consider adding a little more variety in the level design or a subtle surprise in the middle to keep the momentum going.
If you have a moment, I’d love it if you could check out my game and drop a rating: https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977
— thanks so much and good luck in the jam! 🎃
Yeah... I'm gonna totally admit I slapped that stage together in about 30 minutes. I put all my focus on the gameplay to make sure that was solid and ran out of time. I think I'm going to work on the game more post jam and add more stages to it, and adjust the starting stage or nuke it from orbit. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check out your game in a few.
Liked the idea and mechanic. Good stuff
A visual arc while aiming to show the final landing point of the bucket would be beneficial
Yeah that sounds good, just going back and forth about it mentally on how to do that properly. I should experiment with it for later. Thanks for the suggestion!
The game was overall fun and simple.
I liked the way you gradually introduced the mechanics one by one.
The graphics is clean and controls are responsive.
Overall a fun game.
Many thanks! I'm hoping to add more features to this after the jam that eases the transition of mechanics a little better, and add controller support. I'm already working out a few things that I plan on launching soon after the jam ends. Thanks again!
I love seeing Godot other games! This was a very creative mechanic and got me to play all the way through. I enjoyed the music and the art style.
The need to pick up the bucket every time you teleported it was very annoying. It would have had a better flow IMO if you could just pick it up by running over it. Also would have been cool to have more than one level. I also think this would be great with controller support.
Really solid game.
I thought about doing that, but sometimes you're better off leaving the bucket and running off to get some candy than porting back. If I make more levels for this in the future, that'll be a mechanic I'd introduce/encourage. Thanks!
As for controller support, yeah I agree, just I need to figure out how I'd handle the throwing mechanic though I guess thumb sticks would do it... hm.... that should be the first thing I patch in if I keep developing this, thanks for the suggestion!
I would probably do exactly what you did for the mouse. Right trigger to initiate, right stick to aim, and release right trigger or press left trigger to shoot.
This 2D platformer has a lot of varied mechanics that require the player to hold a certain amount of candy in their hand and bucket. I like how the TV is used to reset your candy held stat back to 0 so that the player can collect more candy. Apparently, running to the TV while collecting every single candy in the level completed the level.
I would make one suggestion though, sometimes aiming was very difficult since I always hit the sides of the platform and the bucket would fall to the ground. This was probably where the ground trajectory would've been useful when aiming so that I know where the bucket will land before throwing.
Other than that, level design is fantastic and the overall game design and feel. This game perfectly captured the feeling of using the TV as a way to restore your ability to collect more stuff. Well done in general.
On a post jam patch I'll be adding improvements to the trajectory, thanks for the suggestion!
Cool little platformer with additional mechanics :)
Thanks for playing :D I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm planning on adding improvements after the jam from everyone's suggestions.
This was pretty fun but the collection gameplay could have used being broken into some smaller part with little rewards or narrative to break it up a little.
I've got some ideas for how to do that post jam, thanks for the suggestion! I think I'll end up doing smaller stages at least at the beginning. But yeah, I ran out of time to think of a good narrative for this. Welp, post jam I have all the time in the world lol.
Very nicely done. The mechanics is really cool once I figured it out.
Thanks! I want to make it more clear next time I do one of these. I think if the game has legs I'll work on improving it more.
Heyyy, I made it to the end! I almost gave up part way through, because it was hard to get the basket to land where I wanted. It took me a while to get the hang of it. Controls are kind of tricky - a few different keys to remember. But the game was pretty fun overall and I love the name! (I played the web version.)
Thanks! I really wish I could of figured out a better way to do the controlls and some things could have been clearer. I did make sure that the stage was beatable. If you have any suggestions I'll mark it down and make an improved version outside of the gamejam.
