I ran out of ink, I think, and couldn't progress further, but the core mechanic is really good! great puzzle platforming!

Developer(+1)

yup that’s an oversight on my part, if you run out of ink in the tutorial you get soft locked

Thanks for playing! if you give it a try again keep that in mind!

God this is flaring my impostor syndrome sooooo hard lmao

I'm stunned you guys could make this over a weekend. It feels like there's a gargantuan amount of systems in play, it's so impressive (procedurally generated terrain, dynamically generating collisions, an elegant tutorial, pristine VFX for everything, a cohesive art style, etc). Was there anything you guys struggled with? Was there anything you guys wanted to add but didn't have time for?

Anyway, probably goes without saying but I think this is a wonderful entry. I don't get particularly strong 'Gravity' vibes from it, and I found it pretty difficult to play, but it's EXTREMELY fun and clean.

Tip for anyone struggling: you don't have to always be dashing :) making nice arches just from jumping back and forth tends to create really useful platforms for you to travel upwards!

Thank you so much! We really pushed through quite a lot and worked the full time almost non-stop, but that doesn't mean there aren't some scrapped Ideas we may add later. But during our initial planning phase, we really tried to limit the scope just enough so that it would be doable. We also worked pretty well in-parallel, as one of us could each work on an individual gameplay style at a time. Very happy you enjoy the character controller, as I also feel like the ink mechanic is surprisingly interesting to learn - so much so, that I don't even have it fully figured out yet, hahaha! Initially, we thought about being able to switch the direction of the gravity, but we instead focused on the idea of two gameplay styles based on that - The 2D Platformer part, where gravity just goes downwards and then the ink refilling part, where you can refill your ink and sort of walk on the page itself.

my teammate summed it up pretty well!

Thank you so much for leaving this comment, it’s great to see people actually understanding how to move in the game

Amazing score!

Amazing. I really loved it! I got stuck in my own ink too often however lol.

Developer

Completely understandable. Thanks for playing!

The way the pen moves is really smooth, and the game feels good when you can effectively use the controls. There are still times where I get stuck under the pen and fall multiple times in a row, but when it works, it feels amazing.

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you think so. I do agree that it feels great when you finally understand how to move!

Great game. But a bit hard for me :D I see this game more like puzzle/platformer then runner.

Developer(+1)

Each little platform is like a little puzzle, that’s a fun way to think abt it

Thanks for playing!

A little platform as a little puzzle for the little Pen...

...that could

Unique Idea! it was very difficult thanks to getting caught in your own ink, but I enjoyed myself!

Developer

glad you enjoyed!

Love the idea, and the art is very eye-catching. It feels a bit rough, especially when you get stuck with the slightest movement, but I think it has a lot of potential.

Developer

thank you for your feedback!

Drawing suddenly stopped during the tutorial

Developer (1 edit)

you ran out of ink! thats an oversight on my part, you got softlocked,
You learn how to regen ink later in the tutorial

great game, but its just the fact that your character gets stuck in their own drawing is a bit annoying. It would help if it was a different key bind to draw, but other than that, pretty solid game

Developer

we are aiming to make the ink more intuitive and less frustrating in the future!

Thank you for your feedback

The art is amazing, and I love how the pen is personified through animation! :)

I agree that getting stuck under ink is quite annoying; dashing mitigates this, but it still takes some getting used to. But I like that the game is unique :)

Developer

thank you! We had to handle lots of frames for the pen so I’m glad you liked it

Very nice idea and them implementation, love the visuals. It's lacking an escape button to quit tutorial IMO. It's also frustrating when the pen gets under the drawing and gets blocked, was not able to go very far, but I might just be bad haha

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! you can use the dash to get out when you are stuck ;)

Oh man. I am really bad  at this game. Sorry I couldn't play all of it. Interesting concept with nice visuals!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

still,
thanks for playing!
