Very fun! Love the controls and the growing chain of astronauts.

Great little game! So cool to see little details like eyes on the "box" turning in direction of key presses and how the "dash" was implemented. It was great that the gameplay isn't too stressful, it gives you enough time to react to everything that is happening. I think the slow mo effect on death was also great addition. Cheers for this entry!

Can you export on web please? I can't seem to launch it on mac for some reasons

Developer

I've tried multiple times to upload the exported HTML5 game, but I keep getting the error "failed to run (Insert file name).wasm" Very confused...

Developer

Nevermind! All I had to do was export the file with the name "index.html" and it seemed to work!

One of my favorite games of the jam so far! I am really impressed with graphics, especially the asteroids. I would love to know how you pulled off the lighting on those!?

I also think the explosion/missile effect was impressive, is that just a particle emitter?

Great job!

Developer

Thank you! For the asteroids, I used a 3d software called Blender (You've probably heard of it). I animated them and added a toon shader wich made the hard shadows you see in the final image. Then I just rendered it to a low resolution and voila, you have a cool pixel art asteroid! The explosions and comet trails were just normal particle emitters. I was really surprised at how powerful the particle system in Godot is!

Very cool game, the controls feel just right and I really get the feeling of drifting through space!

Graphics and sound also are top notch, nothing to criticise here.

Difficulty is pretty high, but that's ok. I wonder, is there a max amount of astronauts we can rescue? Or is it more a highscore thing?

Anyway, great game!!!

Wow! Well done! I really like the game. I was amazed how complete its design is, even reaching to details, like muffled music while game is paused. The thing, that seems off however, is its high difficulty.  Max astronauts I got is 4, but mostly only 2 or 3. For me,  failing in first twenty seconds over and over, reduces fun, and draws attention to how easily can game be restarted, in which I have a suggestion. At moment, when player fails, they have to use mouse to click replay button, but it would make sense if they could also activate that button with a keyboard(space/enter/any key). Even more so, since the game doesn't use mouse for anything else. But that's a minor inconvenience. All things considered, The game vastly exceeds what I expect from a week of development. I again express my appreciation for the design and add that I felt truly satisfied by the audio and visuals.

Thank you so much for the long and honest critique! I was originally planning on doing some playtesting with my friends, but none of them ever ended up responding. I think I played it so much during development that it became much easier for me than what it would have been for someone else. I've learned my lesson though, and will definitely plan a specific time to playtest. (By the way, my highscore is 8 astronauts).

I loved it. Rated 5 stars on everything. I would maybe zoom out the camera and spread out the meteors as you go or something like that, the difficulty curve feels weird, or maybe I just suck at videogames lol

I love that the more astronauts you have, the more the game fits with the thematic. Maybe i would make a little smaller the hitboxs so the player can play better withouth dying

Yeah, it is a bit unforgiving.
