Cute game. Funny to get a gumball machine. What is the objective of every level? Keep updating the game :)
Hello, thanks for playing and the feedback :)
What do you mean by "objective of every level" by the way? I am asking since the game currently has an endless level where you have to not let the jar fill with candies as long as you can!
Will release its next update soon, stay tuned!
Hi, I feel it may feel repetitive if it is only one level with no increasing difficulty or constraints, no?
Exciting :)
Fun game, you could definitely expand by simply adding new levels with different candy types. I have the same comment Ido Adler has, there should be some delay and animation in between the merge and the new item so the player has time to digest the information, and make it more clear what is happening.
Thanks for playing and your feedback! :)
Yes, I am planning to add animations or particles (or both) for merging in a later update! Stay Tuned!
Gives the feeling of classic mobile games. Cute concept.
Fun and Simple.
Why is it timed? Looks like the limit should be when I reach over the top of the jar, doesn't it?
Small issue: merges happen immediately, sometimes few upgrades at the same time, it's difficult to understand what's going on, a small animation might help.
Well done.
Thanks for playing and the feedback! :)
Sorry for the confusion caused, the timer is just to see for how long you have been playing in a single run, there's no time limit, you only lose when you fill the jar completely.
Will update soon with animations or particles (or both) for merging in a later update! Stay Tuned!
feels very polished, music slightly repetitive, wish for particles on merge.
9.5/10
Thanks for playing and feedback! :)
Yes, merging is not very intuitive right now, I am planning to add animations or particles (or both) in a later update!
Stay Tuned!
This was a cute and cozy little game, and now I want to go eat some candy. The animation worked really well, and the special effects added to the game without being too much.
I was playing on the web and came across a couple of issues. The first was the How To Play page didn't seem to load properly; not all of the font fit on screen and the emojis were missing. The game is intuitive enough that missing some of the text and emojis didn't making it harder to understand the game, but it didn't look as nice as the images you show for the screen.
The second one felt like a bigger issue. When I tried to restart the game from the game over or the pause menus, the game seemed to have a soft lock. The music continued to play, but the controls no longer seemed to work. The candy didn't move with my mouse, it didn't drop when I clicked the mouse button or hit the space bar, and clicking on the pause button didn't open the pause menu. If I returned to the home screen and clicked the play button, the game played just fine, as did pressing play from the pause menu. But restart locked the controls for me. It's easy enough to restart the page, and it saved my high score and name, so the game is still playable.
Overall, this was a cute, low stacks game that was fun to play.
Thanks a lot for playing the game providing all the insights ๐
Regarding the emojis and UI elements, yes they are not at the best stage yet and I am planning to release a quick fix for them soon. And for the issue regarding where the game froze after restarting, I think I know what is going on, I will fix it in the next update as well. I am glad you enjoyed the experience of making delicious candies! โค๏ธ๐ญ
All the best for your game too!
fun little game the physics could be a bit more "bouncy" to make if more fun (and more buggy I imagine) the fact that you can loop back to the candies after reaching the max merge is fun !
Thanks for the awesome feedback, but wait what, you can loop back after max merge, I don't think that can happen lol, what you probably encountered is maybe you merged 2 gumball machines and they burst with rainbow effect, maybe you thought they converted back into the first candy because there was already that candy there?
By the way, thanks a lot for playing:)
I tested your game on Linux (Fedora 42 with KDE Plasma) and encountered some issues.
Firstly, I noticed that the Linux file was packaged in a .zip, which can cause problems as it loses the execute permissions (chmod +x). Instead, I suggest using a .tar.gz file.
When I tried to run the game, I got the following errors:
sh CandyMerge.shresulted in a "Permission denied" error.chmod +x CandyMerge.x86_32, I got a "required file not found" error when runningsh CandyMerge.shor./CandyMerge.x86_32.Unfortunately, the Linux build didn't work.
On a positive note, I enjoyed playing the game on the web! The animation and sounds are great, and the game is fun.
I did find a couple of minor bugs:
Overall, fun game.
Thanks a lot for all the feedback and info regarding Linux build, yes, I don't currently have access to Linux, I just used Godot's Linux export menu to export the game (I did it in 32 bit architecture), I am really not able to understand what file would be missing, do you also just use the basic Linux export menu in Godot or do some modifications within it before exporting (I left the Export with Debug set to true before exporting).
Regarding the bugs, thanks for letting me know, I think the rate button was working before, I don't know what happened, I will take a look into it. And yes, I was wondering why emojis won't show up in Android or Web builds as it shows properly in Windows build.
Thanks for all the insights on the game :)
> (I did it in 32 bit architecture) ...do you also just use the basic Linux export menu in Godot or do some modifications within it before exporting
My computer is 64 bit. That's probably why.
Maybe use the Embed PCK feature and include both 32 and 64 bit builds in the same archive?
Ah ok, normally on Windows 32 bit applications can run on 64 bit systems, I thought same can be applied on Linux too, alright I will try that next release, thanks for letting me know ๐
Yeah so I figured it our about the Rate button, I changed the page name to Let's Connect Games from Let's Connect Team a while ago that's why it broke the link, but I fixed it in the itch io page and will release a quick fix for the game too soon.
Also, if you can I would kindly request you to please rate my game (using the new link on the itch page which works now) on the itch.io page.
