Big thanks to everyone who has signed up so far! As of writing this message we've got 77 participants and counting.
I have a feeling I'm going to need more than a hundred fake titles, so I've set to work making another hundred.
My goal is to have titles sent out within 24-48 hours of when a participant signs up, so the first of you should be seeing emails soon.

The modules we create need to "use and reflect the title assigned to you". Is your expectation  for the module to use and reflect the *content* of the assigned title? Or is the title meant as a spark, and we can run in our own direction?

Host(+3)

Well you have to literally use the title for the module, so if you're assigned Theft of the Ur-Sword your module will need to be called Theft of the Ur-Sword. But in terms of how you interpret that for the content of your module is up to you.
So it could be a heist type thing, or maybe someone else has stolen the sword and the party needs to get it back? Or you could get weird with it, like someone stole the "idea" of a sword and now none exist lol
Does that answer your question?

It does. But I missed the part in the jam overview that says the titles will be made up. I thought you were using *actual* titles from those works that inspired D&D -- and I was wondering how quickly I might need to read a book for this jam.

But I got it now. Fake titles. All good. Thanks! 👍

Theft of the Ur-Sword is mine btw! I'll soon start to write it

how about crowdsourcing fake titles?  I've been thinking about  'Hyper Battle Fight Conflict Skirmish For Peace' as seen in  @jjbb84's youtube comment here for quite a while, it's too good to be lost to history. Does it sound pulpy to you?

Host

Ha! That's fun, but maybe a little sillier in tone than the titles I currently have.
I do really like the idea of crowdsourcing more fake titles though. Let's revisit that if we break 2 or 3 hundred participants.

To be honest that doesn't sound pulpy to me-- more like the exaggerated "vaporwave" aesthetic that goes a lot further than the actual 80s aesthetic that it's trying to evoke. It doesn't even sound like a real English phrase, just a string of nouns.

Email with a link to a PDF listing the first 100 titles paired to participants should be in your inboxes!
(if not you can just check the drive linked on the jam page, the PDF is in there)

Just joined! When are the next batch of assigned titles dropping?

Host

Tomorrow afternoon most likely! Thanks for joining in!

Hi guys! I'm ready to make something wonderful for this jam! I hope the muse of inspiration finds you upon this journey!

(+1)

this is my first time trying a jam, this sounds really fun! Can’t wait to get a title.

Looking forward to getting my title! Question about the A5 format; how strict is that? Would a tri fold pamphlet work?

Host

oh that's a neat idea, as long as its physically no bigger than the requirement I don't see why not

Submitted

Cool, will think on it!

Host(+1)

Email with a link to a PDF listing the second 100 titles (101-200) paired to participants should be in your inboxes!
(if not you can just check the google drive, the PDF is in there)

Joining for the third batch of 100 titles.

Are you regretting this or still pumped?

Host(+6)

Its certainly more than I prepared for, but I'm still having a lot of fun making more titles!

If we go over 300 I may start feeling differently though lol

(+3)

As participant number 32X, sorry and thanks for all the inspiring titles!

Hi, I'm hoping to get my Appendix N cover so I can start jamming out my adventure. Do you know when you'll send them out?

Host(+1)

Titles (not covers, woof do I not have time to make 500 covers lol) are given with 24-48 hours of joining and can be found in the MASTER LIST excel sheet in the google drive linked on the jam page.

Looks like you're #380

Cool, thank you! #380 it is.

How do we handle covers? Roll our own?

Host

You make your own, just remember, covers are not mandatory and if you do make one it counts toward your page count.

STREAM!

We did a livestream on Monday the 7th with several of the judges. We went over commonly asked questions, heard what judges are looking for in a module, showed off some draft participant work, and a special announcement!

Submitted

I just joined and would love to get a title assigned!

Host

Just to re-iterate the info from the main page:

  • expect to wait 24-48 hours after sign-up to receive a title
  • your username and title will appear on the Master List posted in the google drive

That said, if its been more than two days and your username and title are not in the master list, then I am either very behind or have missed you. In which case I apologize and will get on that.

You specifically look like you signed up about 9 or 10 hours ago (as of me writing this) so you should be seeing one tonight or tomorrow (Sat the 12th or Sun the 13th).

Submitted

Oh, pardon. I wasn't trying to be impatient. I just thought that was a sign-up spot.

Host

You're good, just wanted to make sure you understood the procedure.

Host(+12)

Just to let everyone know: this month our judges will be looking over submissions. We hope to have it all done by the beginning of September and be making winner announcements then. However, this window is tentative.
We will be making more announcements about this in the next few weeks.

Host(+8)

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay on the stream announcement. Our judges are just about done going through all the entries! So I'll send out word on a stream soon. Thanks for your patience.

Submitted(+4)

It's an insane amount of entries to get through, especially in a thoughtful way. My hat's off to you all.

Submitted

Hi, any updates?

Host(+4)

The judges are talking over all their top picks to decide on 1st and 2nd place this coming week. We should be deciding on a stream date then as well.

Submitted(+2)

thanks! Please send appreciation to the judges for their work!!

Host(+7)

Hey guys! I can (finally) announce that our Appx N awards livestream will be Monday, Sept 29th at 8pm EST!

Links and graphics coming soon

Submitted(+2)

awww yiss! can’t wait to catch it (maybe even win something!)

Submitted

Have the winners been chosen yet?

Host (1 edit)

yeah, we had the livestream a couple days ago. I apologize, thought I had a link to it in this thread but I'll post now with the archived video and listed winners
