thanks!

(1 edit)

Hey everyone! This past Monday (9/29/25) we did a livestream announcing the winners of the jam and talked about some of our finalists. The winners are:
Audience Pick - The Knight Errant
2nd Place - The Eternal Empress
1st Place - The Eldritch Staff

Honorable Mentions:

(Honestly there are a lot more honorables than this short list. I'm encouraging judges to post more of their own picks, I know I will be)

Here's a link to the award stream.

Apologies for the late post, I had though I posted a stream link in this forum last week and only just now realized I hadn't!

(1 edit)

yeah, we had the livestream a couple days ago. I apologize, thought I had a link to it in this thread but I'll post now with the archived video and listed winners

Hey guys! I can (finally) announce that our Appx N awards livestream will be Monday, Sept 29th at 8pm EST!

Links and graphics coming soon

The judges are talking over all their top picks to decide on 1st and 2nd place this coming week. We should be deciding on a stream date then as well.

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay on the stream announcement. Our judges are just about done going through all the entries! So I'll send out word on a stream soon. Thanks for your patience.

Judges have until the end of the month to…judge. Then we’ll have a livestream award ceremony. Details should be announced in the next week or so.

Thanks! Its been a really fun project!

Thanks!

I wrote 550 of them myself and relied on submissions for the rest.

My procedure was to bring up lists of the actual Appendix N titles, multiple thesaurus’s, lists of mythological places, figures, and things. Then puzzle over all of that to come up with titles. I also tried to keep in mind that the title should be able to be interpreted in multiple ways to give the writers flexibility.

Also I had to envision it on a 70s book cover lol

We're not allowing participants to make changes while judging is going on, but feel free to upload that after the voting period ends. Also, I can tell you that our team of judges isn't going to factor something like not being searchable into their decision, so don't worry about being dinged for that.

Just to let everyone know: this month our judges will be looking over submissions. We hope to have it all done by the beginning of September and be making winner announcements then. However, this window is tentative.
We will be making more announcements about this in the next few weeks.

We would rather not have people changing entires after the deadline, so I would say no. That said, is a typo going to be a big factor in judging? Not really. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Geez, I'm sorry that happened! Not sure why, but I can look into it

Good idea! I just emailed them

I would like to do that. I haven't been able to figure out how.
I'll ask around but if anyone could help me out that would be great. Maybe it's too late now that the voting period has begun?

refreshed!

Aw, I'm sorry you had so much trouble with it. Thanks for joining and giving the jam a try!

I don't think so? I assume that's just itch glitching in some small way, it'll likely sort itself out.
And since you said something I'm make sure yours is not missed when I judges go through everything.

Well this is the first one I've run but the way it *should* work is as soon as the deadline hits you and the other participants should be able to vote 1-5 on a series of criteria I created.
We'll see if that happens lol

you are free to change anything you want before the deadline

up now

I'll try to get you one in the next couple hours. It'll appear in the google drive master list linked on the jam page

Thanks for doing this!

Link refreshed!

Nope. Sorry, that does sound cool but it's not really what the jam is about.

Either is fine!

That's fine. Just remember, if it isn't part of the 4 page PDF then it won't be considered by the judges. So if there's information that only appears on that printable map then the judges won't see it.

It is included!

While I encourage participants to make retro pulp covers, this is not a requirement and I don't want participants to feel they must sacrifice a full page of content for it. I made a bunch as a way to communicate the vibe of what people will be writing, because they make for good marketing materials, and because it was fun.

If you would like to make one but want to avoid it cutting into your page count, several participants have put the cover on their projects itch page but not included it in the PDF. Just be aware that when doing this the cover will not be considered part of the project in terms of judging since it isn't part of the 4 page PDF.

You're good, just wanted to make sure you understood the procedure.

Just to re-iterate the info from the main page:

  • expect to wait 24-48 hours after sign-up to receive a title
  • your username and title will appear on the Master List posted in the google drive

That said, if its been more than two days and your username and title are not in the master list, then I am either very behind or have missed you. In which case I apologize and will get on that.

You specifically look like you signed up about 9 or 10 hours ago (as of me writing this) so you should be seeing one tonight or tomorrow (Sat the 12th or Sun the 13th).

You make your own, just remember, covers are not mandatory and if you do make one it counts toward your page count.

Titles (not covers, woof do I not have time to make 500 covers lol) are given with 24-48 hours of joining and can be found in the MASTER LIST excel sheet in the google drive linked on the jam page.

Looks like you're #380

STREAM!

We did a livestream on Monday the 7th with several of the judges. We went over commonly asked questions, heard what judges are looking for in a module, showed off some draft participant work, and a special announcement!

refreshed the link, will be trying to get a permanent one

Yeah, I made up all the titles to save you from copyright infringement (and having to read a book lol).

Not sure why I discord link wasn't working for you, I switched it out so it may work now. If not I'll check with the folks running to server to see if they need to generate one.

Bold, but a cool idea!

Sorry, because of the prizes I would have to say no.

haha yup Hexcrawls are great! The description was just supposed to give a range of ideas

The ones popping up since the jam started or the ones on the jam page? If you're talking about the jam page ones I made those. It was a fun bit of photoshopping!
