Love the art and the animations, game feels super smooth and responsive too, love all the screen flashes and vfx. Great job!!

Enjoyed this - could see it evolving into something 👏

Got my ass kicked by a bunch of birds, otherwise was fun. Suprisngly meaty feeling attacks, might have been nice to have attack-cancelling for the roll, but it felt like a reasonable challenge and the art was really cool and very easy to read

Love the short and simple game. straight to the point with combat but would advise on the attack moves to make them faster and maybe include the controls of the game before the game starts.

Combat is fun and flashy, has quite the crunch to it!

The combo attack was sick, think it’s a concept that has a lot of potential to build more on and I thought the aesthetic was cool. Those damn birds were tough to hit though LoL. Good job!

It's simple but really fun. If I were to change one thing is to just make actions more responsive.

I enjoyed this game. Only comment I have would be to make the movement and attack a bit more snappy.

Other than that, great game.

Simple and effective, well done!

Really cool game, well done

great great game. Love a pixel platformer with nice visuals, and the combat works surprisingly well. I made it to the end after following a set strategy of avoiding the big guys attacks right after he swings.

Really fun. Surprised this is a jam game. Nice combat, art and music

Snappy controls and interesting enemies that test different parts of the players kit, all in 3 days as a solo? Sweet

Also really nice art direction

the art direction, as everyone else has mentioned really blows this out the park. the game feeels really nice to play, but the difficulty does notably pick up. Well done!

I would have liked some more narrative exploration beyond the fact that you are a skeleton so I don't think the game works very hard to adhere to the theme. Why are you a skeleton? Who are you fighting and why? Are you the bad guy or are they the bad guys?

I have a very old and slow computer so the speed was just right (I've seen the comments about the uncapped frame rate) but sometimes the controls felt unresponsive, with the character continuing to run, even though I wasn't pressing a key, or continuing to execute a move, which might be explained by the animation lock that someone else described but doesn't explain the running that sometimes got stuck. When it was working properly the controls were good and I was able to figure out a method for fighting the big enemies.

I really like the art and choice of restricted palette, as well as the animation of the sprites (and the parallax scrolling). Did you use an engine to make this game and, if so, what was it?

First off, incredible art direction and animation -- really impressive. Loved the grey palette and smooth movements.

The combat felt quite good, except for one thing that bothered me: If I'm fighting in front of me and I want to roll backwards, I often can't manage it, because there's an animation lock that feels like it lasts a little too long. As in, not having animation cancelling is fine, but here, after an attack, the character returns to standing upright (i.e. looks ready to do something else) but is still locked for a bit longer. Which makes the controls feel unresponsive (because it *looks* like the animation is done, but the character can inexplicably still not move).

So having the animation (or just the controls lock) end the frame before he's back to idle would probably feel a lot better, in my opinion. (Especially with the number of enemies you have to deal with from multiple sides, and the fact that the combat feels like it wants you to do some precision risk/reward attack/dodging.)

Nonetheless, I had a great time. Very nice! High score was 91 once I figured out how to deal with the big guys (but I was eventually overrun).

First of all, thanks a lot for the huge write up! It’s really valuable feedback. This is my first game and I'm still studying so I did not expect people to like it this much haha! The dash cooldown defo could’ve been presented better with an animation, I agree.

Also, in case you want to get further, another bug I didn’t get to fix is: If you time it right, you can not take damage from the big knight's sword by being in the middle of an attack such as a stab, only works if you've killed something with a previous attack and then are stabbing the corpse.

Honestly, loving how responsive combat feels!

Is the attack on J a little NES/SNES tribute? :D Either way, the game feels really solid—the mechanics are tight, and the enemy knockback in particular is super satisfying. For such a small scope, it’s really well executed and shows you know exactly what you’re doing - And there's bigger okes that come later.  Big thumbs up from me!

yes it is!! I didnt think anyone would notice :) thanks for playing

suuuper cool!

Game ran at superspeed though, which was challenging, but the art, audio and execution is epic!

yooo this is so sick!! combat is fluid (if a bit fast) and the art is so clean!! nice work!
