Really love the way you do PS1 style games, the CRT filter feels so authentic. A platformer with an air dash is one of my fav genres, getting to zip around felt really liberating with the level layouts. The effect to let you know when a Skremplet is around was very cool, and I enjoyed the story a lot, especially Gretchen's part about saving the planet lol. The music perfectly complimented the vibes, stellar game!
This was great, start to finish. Sick visuals and music for a strong spooky vibe, and excellent takes on the character designs (DSD being a personal favourite). Fun movement, and I loved getting to explore and pick my own order for completing areas, with the ultimate goal of the tower there to stop things from feeling aimless. Fantastic job all around.
Excellent game that completely nails its PSX aesthetic. Very fun to play with loads of surprises. I would play a whole game of this. Love the atmosphere!
Stellar atmosphere and environments! It's really really impressive how well you brought this world to life!
Fantastic aesthetic, character designs & music! Also really creative use of the Skremplet's goblic endowments for traversal.
Y'all really nailed it this year with this is incredibly impressive submission! As someone who just got into 3D art earlier this year I am stunned by the amount and detail of all the 3D models & animation. The platforming and level design is also very solid. The mechanic of unlocking level traversal objects rather than abilities is surprisingly novel. My only nitpick would be to have an inverted camera controls option for weirdos like myself.
I was thinking of writing something up on the struggle to get enough rigs to fit so many different character types in a short time, and the trials and errors in that. Low poly is a blessing and a curse to work within, but it does hide a lot of rig sins.
That would be a great segment in the postmortem!
The original takes on each Skremplet design are superb! Really enjoyed how each Skremplet added more mechanics and traversal options to the world. Great style, and its clear how much effort went into this project. Kudos!
It was quite challenging to get a design that struck the right balance between Kyle's designs and the atmosphere of the environment art. The original giant foozloo looked too out of place gigantic which is why they became the small ones and a new one got designed.
I'd definitely spend more time on the designs if I had another try.
Pushed an update to the rails to hopefully fix that rail grind crash Kyle had, was not able to replicate it so not 100% sure its fixed.
Very "Alice: Madness Returns." This was really fun to play!
Wow, awesome level design and visual aesthetic. Super fun to explore this world and unlock the new traversals!
