crazy to see what you guys were able to do in two weeks! Only thing I can say is that I wish there was look inversion for the controller haha
really nice work - I'd love to see this turned into a full game
Crazy effort, great Visuals too. This has to be among the top.
Wow this is stunning! I'm not even exaggerating when I say this is one of the best feeling mech games I have ever played. I am seriously impressed with what you all managed in 2 weeks.
Wow, thanks!! that means a lot 🥰
Was pretty floored by the quality of this game especially as a game jam game.. I wouldn't be surprised if your game won or ranked fairly high. The visual polish is great - love the low poly aesthetic. The animations were super fluid and expressive and the controls were tight and responsive. The character portrait art was well made. The voice acting was cool and I liked how each opponent had their own personality. I ended up playing through the whole game and there is quite a bit of content that made it in. Which was nice. The AI programming wasn't bad either. I was having a difficult time playing with mouse in keyboard, but once I swapped to a game pad and used the lock on system I was able to get through things pretty easily (on easy mode) - curious how you handle the other difficulties. Fantastic work overall. There aren't too many games in the jam with this amount of polish.
I definitely wanted to make the AI more sophisticated and modular, but at some point it in development it just got to that "good enough" point and I had other things to do so it stayed there hahaha. Definitely a tricky thing to develop for me personally. the game was definitely designed around a controller and I think we could have done a better job (any job) teaching and explaining the controls. The various difficulties are just increased damage scaling on the enemies, 1x, 1.75x and 2.5x. I like hard personally! :D
Thanks for playing and for all the feedback!
Wow this is like peak production quality for a game jam.
The art, the mechanics, the voice acting, UI, all of it was exceptional.
The only thing missing from making this a legit time sink mech game is an upgrade system. Having the exact same loadout for every fight started to get stale towards the end, but it was still a fun experience.
The one thing I would change without adding anything would be to just get rid of the first fight. Fighting a swarm of spongey fast moving drones isn’t really fun with the given main weapon, but the one on one fights are awesome albeit easy.
Great job putting this together in two weeks!
We actually talked about maybe cutting the drone level but decided it would cut the game a bit short. We really should have made a tutorial level in it's place but we didn't have time-- we kinda left it in as a 'you can get acquainted with the controls here' kinda level but I agree it's not as fun as the duels.
Thanks so much for playing!!
Love the locking-on system! I wish the melee dash would account for verticality of the opponent and that the main machine gun shooting felt more satisfying, but otherwise this game's aesthetic and polish is the ABSOLUTE PEAK. Absolute artistry and command over the engine and your art assets, this was such a gorgeous experience and I'm surprised at how many levels your team squeezed into this game jam. Appreciated the end credit dedications too, peace and love!
Thank you so much! Fixing/improving the melee dash attack was up there on my wishlist but alas I didn't have the energy/time hahaha
Now that's everything you could ask for in a mecha game! This game is amazing!
The variety, the design, the voice over, the effects. Everything is on point!
Unfortunately, the game lagged really hard on my machine. I don't know much about optimizing, but if you could look into it for future entries, it would really help. The game is so good, that I even enjoyed it with < 20 FPS XD
Really amazing that you pulled this off in two weeks! Keep up the work.
Glad you enjoyed it thx for playing! Unfortunately I don't know much about optimizing either LOL
You had me from "In tha future". What a great game, love the character portraits, little introductions, the whole vibe of the corporate sponsored tournament is spot on. And the gameplay rocks, fast and furious.
This is better than a game jam game has any right to be. Sick enemy design with matching theme levels? Customizable mech?? Voice overs??? Ya'll cooked with this one.
The game is incredible! all the work you guys put into is very obvious, the mechs the art style the details, its all great !The only thing for me is that the health pool of almost everything in the game just seems to big, If they just had a bit less health I think the game would feel snappier. Also maybe knowing the enemies health as well would be nice. Over all tho this is the most polish ive seen in a game jam in a while lol Good job!
Amazing work. The style is impeccable!
Thank you!! 🥰
Just wow!
There's so much in here that it's staggering. This feels more like a vertical slice for a full game, than something that was made for a jam in just two weeks.
Everything from the art, to the sound and gameplay is all on point. I really can't find any areas to critique, I only want to see more.
Maybe more weapons to provide a bit more variety to combat (big cannons that you need to stop for a second in order to fire, melee weapons with combo hits). But this stuff would, of course, only be if you were all going to continue to work on this, which I really hope you do.
I can totally see this becoming a commercial game, 10/10!
Thanks for all the kind words!!
I love the final boss so much, very fitting finale. The music in the robo customization room was a bop fr, I must of spent 15 mins playing with colors and grooving to the beat. All the art was stellar, was oozing with the kinda charm that pairs perfectly with piloting a mech!
It played tight, I loved the feeling of dashing while letting clouds of missiles fly. The boss with a nice caboose caught me off guard, a real treat. All the visual and written humor paired with the crisp sponsor designs had me wearing a cheshire smile the whole time.
I was spitting laughing when I walked into a car. 10/10 Enjoyed myself the entire time, thank you to everyone who worked on it~
Thanks so much for your kind words!!! glad you enjoyed it
Incredible, it looks fun, it plays fun, it is fun!
Holy freaking hell this is fantastic :D
Had a blast playing this, the whole visual presentation is a treat, from the mech models (especially the player’s with the custom color options) to the characters, the arenas the sponsor billboards(seriously they’re hillarious) even the camera work with the fight intros
Plus a round of applause for the voice actors :)
Gameplay wise the WASD + mouse shooting works as expected and the lock on system for the missiles is really well made and feels authentic to the retro games that had the same mechanic. Plus the overall fast pace of the battles makes it really fun.
If i had to nitpick i’d say my only gripe is the absence of an opponent Hp bar to help and see how the fight is going cause the action is so frantic at times i didn’t really know if i was hitting or not while dashing around.
Other than that it was really an amazing entry you guys made this so polished, and the humor is absolutely spot on with the characters and Corpo ads, so good i don’t want to spoil them for people who haven’t played yet XD
Well done team :D
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed yourself <3
BTW-- There is an enemy health bar if you lock on to enemies (E on keyboard, click RS on controller). Sounds like you were using unlocked firing. Lock on locks the camera onto your enemies as well as shows range and HP info. Anyway contextual controls and tutorialization is missing from the game so that's on us.
Oh dang well that might explain it i didn’t even realize that sorry my bad :(
No worries! We should have signposted it better, and to be fair unlocked aiming is still a totally valid way to play anyway haha, if anything be proud of your opponent-tracking skills 🔥🔥🔥
Haha :p
