I found it very difficult but you did a nice job crafting tension. The vibe and graphics are good. Also the menu camera swivel was dope lol
Super atmospheric and rather tense. I dig it!
A neat stealth / horror game. Always a hard time if you're NOT the mech :')
I liked the atmosphere and the robot designs. The map had good variations for the different areas.
I'm not a fan of horror games, so this isn't really my genre but I had chills run down my spine, so I guess, mission accomplished?
Ah, one other nice thing: I like the menu transition when going to the settings!
This is very cool, love the stealthy vibes and the mechs look great patrolling around in the darkness with their red lights. Cool scifi looking flashlight too, really great visuals all around. And the stealth worked as intended for me, pretty scary when they start rushing you.
Thanks a lot for the kind words <3
Ok, not sure why but the whole time I was moving forward and to the left on my own. I don't have any additional extra controllers plugged in. I wasn't quite sure about how to activate the controls either, and wasn't able to use different items.
I used the download, and am on a windows machine.
This is on my work computer, so I don't have all the privileges to know exactly what is going on with it. I could try it at home later.
It is a very good vibe you got going on. I think the intro text is a little long
Let me know how it goes if you decide on playing it at home and if the player keeps moving on his own :)
But thanks for trying it <3
The game is original by is context and ambiant. You don’t play a mech but try to dodgethe mechs. The atmosphere is very nice. I’ve appreciated the small briefing, but it’s not possible to cancel or increase the speed of the text pressing a key for example. when you retry a lot, it’s boring.
Read the briefing is important because i was totally lost when i interact with the first pannel, after reading better, i need to use the number on keyboard to enter the code, i like it. This kind of immersive ui, but need a time to user to appreciate it, like the energy of the batterie etc…
I’m divised about that, displaying value or indication is more easier for the player to understand, but in other way without indication the game looks more immersive and real with this ambiant. But for the interaction, you have display : press “E” for the interaction…..maybe just higlight the model and not display text to be coherent ?
About the fight with small sentinel, i find flashlight most inneffective, my best solution is to jump over small obstacle to trap the mech, the pipes at the entrance is good for that. The big mech shooting and seeing very far i think, but i’m not sure. But after all its a stealth game.
I’ve thanks you for the web version, because windows version dont work on my old laptop, performance is horrible but mys laptop is old so its not significative.
I’ve a bug on the web version, when i’m crounching with control, after few seconds the webbrowser close, i think is a key used by web browser maybe use “C” is better.
This a very inventive project and esaily become a full game with good level design but this is the good way ! A very solid entry !
No worries about the web version, and thanks for playing!
About the flashlight, are you standing still when flashing them? Otherwise it wont work, the in game explanation is that you reset their sensors when you move when flashing them, so they don't get stunned.
Yes i have made a new try and it works when i stay still the mech is momentaly stun ! Thanks !
Awsome!
The atmosphere is really great. Love the shader you used, it gave an awesome retro vibe. The stealth vibe and setting were an excellent choice.
The enemies seemed able to see me even when crouching and hiding behind stuff. I also tried the flashlight on them but I didn't notice much difference. I also agree the map was a little too empty, but at the same time that gave it some sense of realism and scope.
Overall this game just needs a few small tweaks,. It's really good!
I'm currently working on making the map better as I agree that it is empty with some spots that are just unnecessary. The flashlight have also gotten a bit of a rework, but still requires players to stand still when flashing the enemies for it to take effect.
But thanks a lot for playing <3
For some reason, this reminded me of the movie “9”. I really felt small and like I had already lost. You created a nice, tense atmosphere, but the map needs to be more densely filled—right now there are quite large empty spaces.
It would be great if you added sound settings and an option to toggle crouch instead of holding the button.
I also noticed a small bug: I approached the console and then ran away when I was spotted—the "E" prompt stayed on the screen even when I was far from the console.
But overall, I really enjoyed the experience. We are waiting for the release :)
So first impressions. Really cool UI, the menu and little intro sequence looks great (love the menu animations in particular).
Would like an option to be able to skip through the opening intro by clicking though, as it's a little annoying having to sit through it all again on second playthroughs.
In-game visuals are nice. I know you said some of these were from asset packs, but it's good that you managed to get things that complimented one another. Nothing feels weirdly out of place, and it all matches the soviet industrial theme you were going for. The mechs look great and are definitely the highlight of the visuals.
Audios a bit of a mixed bag, some stuff sounds great, other things like the out of breath sound effects are a little... off-putting.
As for the gameplay itself, I gotta admit that I couldn't beat it. Hell, I could barely activate more than one of the button. Enemies seem to spot me through obstacles and would often ignore the flashlight when I shone it at them. Because buttons tended to be in a container or against a wall, the enemy would end up trapping me with its collider and beat me to death in the corner.
Your stamina and battery life for the flashlight are also very low and there's no UI elements to indicate how much you have left, which meant I would end up in situations that I was unprepared for.
I think if you fix the enemy detection and stun effects, and increase the amounts of stamina and battery, it will make for a much smoother experience.
The good news is these problems are things that can be fixed with some tweaking. The core gameplay of this is fine, and I think it will turn out great with some adjustment.
So well done!
Thank you very much <3
I agree about the breathing — it’s definitely a bit off-putting, but I felt it was even stranger without it.
Some of the AI is admittedly a bit busted, sound and vision detection still needs work. Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback, it’s really helpful!
I found 3 buttons in as many attempts before I gave up, I really like the atmosphere in this but the map is very large and easy to get lost in, so I feel like finding the remaining buttons would take me way longer than I have patience for.
The atmosphere was great, especially the red light that the robots give off (really cool way to have diagetic vision cones) and the huge robots that you can already see looming in the distance from the start. An issue I had was that I misunderstood the motion tracker, I thought it was supposed to guide you toward the codes so I tried walking towards the faster beeps which uh. didn't end well. An explanation for that would have been nice.
Another small note I have is that it says Controlls instead of Controls everywhere? And the E from the interact prompt with the buttons sometimes didn't vanish from my screen.
Thanks for trying it :)
Yea, now in hindsight I agree — the map ended up being too big for a jam game. It definitely takes longer than intended to find everything.
As for the motion tracker, it actually does work like a Geiger counter — the faster it beeps, the closer you are to the code pad. But yea a better explanation would decently help
Appreciate the feedback, especially the bug notes
oh huh. I couldn't find one of the code pads it was beeping for and that led me to believe it was speeding up if enemies are closer, not the pads
I want to try your game but i have an issue, and i cant launch it can you look if there is a problem with your files ?
what OS are u using? I think u need windows 11 or 10
Ah i’m actually not on my workstation, i’m on a laptop windows 8. I’m surprised because habitually game made with unity work fine. Have you try to made a web version of your entry ?
Im actually building the web version now lol. It as been loading for almost 30min now, but should be done soon
Nice i’ll try it when it’s done maybe tomorow.
sounds good :)
