Love that death animation! Fun core gameplay and a good variety of upgrades. The shield enemies were interesting, but I found that lining up shots to hit them in the back was too difficult/left me open for attack, so I 100% relied on breaking shields with the flaming shot, which was a bit disappointing, as it felt less skilled. Not quite sure how you're supposed to beat the boss without a dodge/dash of some kind, but excited to give it another go!

VERY JUICY
the sfx are amazing, the visual feedback is very on point, it's all pretty nice
the shops are a great way to break the gameplay, giving a rest while changing the style of weapon
my only nitpick is that the camera effect when opening a room is kinda too much
amazing entry!
In terms of enjoyment, this is my favourite game of the jam :> Absolutely polished and so satisfying, legit sell this to me on steam at this rate i enjoyed this so much I couldnt find any real issues with this game, only mild game design choices like how the shield enemies are kinda tough to deal with. anyways thanks for willing this game into existence! Love the artstyle so much
Furthest I was able to get was the 4th room in loop 3. Those lines of tiny guys are pretty deadly lol. Putting shields on the normal enemies is diabolical, but also a great choice, ngl
Presentation was great overall. Visuals and audio were both wonderful. Loved how clear and readable things were in general. Especially loved the little health bars around the enemies.
Part of me wishes that there was some sort of aiming reticle or just something to help aim. That said, a lot of the fun of the game was me trying to figure out how aiming actually worked, so maybe it's for the best that the current system is the way it is.
One thing I'm not really a fan of though is the game's camera system. If anything, getting attacked offscreen was one of the main reasons why I died sometimes.
Still, all in all I'd say you still made a great game here. Great job overall
Really enjoyable to play. The presentation is top-notch and the game feel is so good. Well done!
As for the things that I'd change: First, I'd make it so that the charged boomerang shot is actually charged by holding a button (RMB or something) instead of simply waiting, which takes the agency from the player (I'd pair this with a bit shorter charge duration). Second, I was not entirely sure if the upgrades I buy in the shop need equipping or if they are all simultaneously active, so I'd make that a bit clearer. Third, I'd make enemies pass through you on impact - having snakes block your path gets kinda annoying. And, last, I'd try to somehow teach the player that the big enemies should be attacked with the charged shot instead of trying to loop a boomerang behind their back.
A long feedback, but I still think your game is great! Keep working on it, please! :)
Amazing game juice. I could really feel impact of the hits landing. The sound design was really well done too, and added a lot to the impact. The artstyle is really unique, and looks quite stunning. The big shield enemy was kinda hard on my first play though, cuz I kept trying to hit it using regular boomerangs looping from the back. Good news is I soon realized I had to use the charged boomerangs. One slight nitpick I have with the charged boomerangs though, would be that they charge up kinda slow... maybe that's just me though. Finally, I really liked the music change when at the shop, it provides a bit of a relaxed vibe after intense fights. Overall, a really well done game!
Overall, the style and polish on this feels very, very professional. Excellent job! The boomerangs feel very satisfying to throw, and everything from UI design to hit effects to that sick-as-hell death animation are all really awesome. Feels very much like a game I could play on the app store etc.
The "loop" mechanic of playing through the stage layouts over again is well-done. I will say that I feel the game feels a bit slow for my tastes -- the boomerang charge feels like it takes forever, and you're forced to use it to kill the shield enemies (which I was frustrated that I couldn't hit from behind... felt very counterintuitive).
I really didn't like having to CTRL-ALT-DELETE to close the game due to it being in fullscreen exclusive mode on Windows (unless there was a button I didn't mash that closes it).
Very solid game overall. I'm kinda missing a unique twist a tiny bit but very strong execution in my opinion!
i love how much attention to detail there is in this game. the little health bars around the enemies i didnt notice at first but theyre super cool when you see it. i really need to learn how to get awesome lighting like that, it just adds so much to a game.
overall a very fun game, interesting take on the theme and i love it!
if you have time, id really appreciate it if you could give me some feedback on my game (https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2025/rate/3780834) - its my first game jam and im looking to get better!
Really love how the boss is shaped so that the charged boomerange can be extra juicy lol.
I might start to learn a bit of shader programming after playing this, the game looks amazing
What an dopamine-packed game, really well made!
I think the reason people are quite picky in the comments is the bar you set yourself to. As the game is very polished, reactive, and intuitive... People expect more! But for that short of a game jam, it's already impressive and definetly sits on top of this jam. It just shows that people see the potential in it and wanted more from the core experience presented. Don't beat yourself to it!
Really great entry. Nice job!
Great game, really good feedback when hitting an enemy. The artstyle/ shader you used is also great!
