How does your game fit the theme?
Play as the Incy Wincy Spider and climb up the water spout before immediately being washed down again as the game resets back to the beginning! *If you don't have time to finish the game please at least watch my playthrough (2min) via the youtube link on the game page before rating*

This is so addicting and fun! Foddian games usually frustrate the heck out of me but I found myself trying over and over. It was fun finding small movement tech and I suspect the skill ceiling for this game is astronomical. I think its worth continuing, as with polish and better communication to the player this could be a really fun streamer game. Amazing work for your first jam!!
Thanks so much! i dont plan on fully developing it (i dont really have the time or the skills lol) but if you or anyone else out there wants to try im happy to send over the codebase as it stands. thanks for playing!!
Really cool idea, slightly janky gameplay (as expected for a jam game) makes it a bit frustrating. With some polish and difficulty tuning it could be really addictive.
An interesting core mechanic (who doesn't love some grappling-hook style gameplay!?) with good atmosphere and art choices. The physics of the player themselves are hard to manage - some push-away from the expelling of your thread makes controlling a climb very challenging. But the bones of a fun mechanic are there and just need some finagling. Excellent work for a first jam, you should be really proud of the whole package you put together!
Extremely challenging for me! Gameplay feels amazing, great game!
i dindnt realize that you could stop & jump, so i thought that i broke the game, ha ha
Very fun, enjoyed it!
This is a neat concept! However, the level design and quirks in physics make it hard to control.
I like the artwork too, it's simple but quite atmospheric.
I definitely see some jump king resemblance, a fun platformer with cool physics.
Congrats and great job! I learned this jam how tricky momentum based physics can be, so kudos to you for tackling it! Super fun concept, and I thought the web slinging mechanic was very unique. It would be interesting to allow the player to stick their web to walls or overhangs, or even have special "hook points" they could attach to, to help them navigate.
oh i really like that idea and it could make some of the sections a bit easier, if the user is more guided towards where to swing from. thanks for playing
Congrats on your first jam submission!
Whew that's a Rage platformer with a capital R! I definitely see the Jump King influence, and you nailed it in that regard. However, I made it to the waterfall and had to nope outta there because I was getting too mad haha.
Assuming you prioritize the web swinging mechanic, I think the key to making that more fun would be to have a more open level design that let's you really swing around with more freedom. It was extremely frustrating to get bounced off of the wall and have my web get destroyed.
My other suggestion would be to pivot to a different mechanic entirely: wall-climbing. That way you can navigate through the really tight areas and be allowed to line up your jumps and get that perfect landing that we crave from games like this.
Hope that's helpful!
thanks for the feedback and for playing, i did consider being able to walk around and on walls but it didnt feel right and i ran out of time to design new levels around. also i agree with your comment about the open level design, its what i tried to go for with the waterfall room. i think in general i need more practice in level design, and especially the challenge of the player having to go vertically upwards in every obstacle made it very difficult. i learned a lot for next year tho!
Very fun! Even though I’m absolutely terrified of spiders I think this is an adorable and fun game
Hey, had a look at your game and I have to say, if this is your first jam, you should be proud of this. You understood what most didn't, which is focus on a central mechanic of the game, and really make it work well with the idea you are going for, not letting the scope get too big. This game is polished nicely, and I really enjoy the mechanics. Takes a little getting used to, and I would probably move the first waterfall a little farther up, as it is really difficult and doesn't make a ton of sense of what to do. I got past it, just took a few minutes. Good game, overall. Also, it is quite easy to make the Godot game run in the web, just rename the .html file into 'index.html', then zip all the files in the web export up, upload it to itch and it should just work. For next time :)
thanks for the feedback and for playing! i really wish id made it into a html build, i didnt realise it was as big of a deal coming into this jam but its just so much easier for people to play and rate. oh well, ill definately do that next year!
quite a shame it doesn’t have a web build, I think it was like a requirement. Pretty tough not gonna lie. I can barely make it to 2 platforms. It’s an interesting idea, though. Not sure where the loop theme comes in though.
the loop theme comes in at the end when you get washed back down to the beginning. sadly i think i made it a bit too hard so not many people have the patience to actually see the ending, but theres a video of it on the game page if you want to check it out.
yea that’s always a balancing act with game jams
Very fun game! took a little while getting used to the string getting longer but it was still very cool!
Very interesting game. Finished in 20 to 30 min. Some parts is in fact quite diffcult, the bouncing on the wall sometimes would bounce me back to where I started, which is good that you have a check point.
yeah i had to add checkpoints after testing cos i got too frustrated bouncing all the way back down :) thanks so much for sticking with it for that long, i dont think many people have the patience to finish it. ill definately tune down the difficulty of my next game jam game!
Very nice game! The art is nice and feels polished. Unfortunately I am not very good so I didn't get to play much. One thing I noticed is that sometimes when I hold space it doesn't register and just bounces off the ground. But overall really good
Great game! I really liked the swinging mechanic, it was hard to master at first, but I could feel how I become better and better at swinging, after beating the game once, I was able to beat it again much faster that time, and without checkpoints :) Also the graphics are nice, I liked the spider's little animations and tutorial, and audio is good. Overall a very good game!! Especially for the first game jam, congrats!
Thanks! im impressed someone beat it without checkpoints, that takes some serious consistency with the swing mechanics lmao.
Fun little game! A bit too hard for me personally. I couldn't get past the second section but the core is a fun little platformer :)
Yeah i think i made some sections a bit too hard (you can see in the video on my game page even i struggled and ive played through it about a hundred times lol) good feedback for next year tho! thanks for playing
interesting game and gameplay easy to understand.
If possible, can you please rate my game and leave a comment too.
A very cool concept of making the platforming related to grappling hooks. I had fun with it, but I also encountered some difficulties, which could be a skill issue. Sometimes I got stuck as I clicked right on the spider. Could for sure see this be a popular platformer with more time to polish. Good job on it! Again really enjoyed the concept as I am one who enjoys grappling hook mechanics!
For some reason the app closes every time I try to open it, RIP
sorry to hear that! ive just tested it on 2 computers and it seems to work fine. are you definitely on windows?
Yeah, Windows 10. Although I've noticed some other jam games are causing the same problem so maybe it's just an issue with my computer
